My 4 year son absolutely LOVED this museum. He wanted to explore the animals more than anything. I was interested in their current Periodic Table of Elements Exhibit. We were the only visitors at the time so it was a very calm environment. We enjoyed ourselves. If we are still in town when the exhibits change, we will be there! Thanks Scott County Library
A great museum for understanding the significance of wetlands, prairies, ecosystems and the overall protection of our planet. My significant other and I went during COVID-19 so some of the interactive aspects were not available but it was still very informative and enjoyable.
We love taking our two year old grandsons to the Putnam. They love going through every room and looking at the fish, animals, trains, and the Indian teepee. Climbing up the stairs into the tree Is one of their favorite activities.
Most of the exhibits are closed due to COVID-19 which is a shame. Wish they were more upfront on their website.
Great place to take your kids to explore.
Very educational and fun for all ages
What a great local treasure we have. A fun and interactive day. Love all the Quad Cities history as well as all the changing exhibits. Lots of hands on learning. Great place for kids and adults alike.
LOVED the overall exhibits. A very great learning opportunity for kids and adults alike! It definitely had the feeling of being a kid again and there was something for everyone. I highly recommend spending a day there! The theater was amazing.Rated 4/5 because: we went twice a few weeks apart. The first time, there were a few exhibits broken. After a few weeks break, we returned and the exhibits had still not been fixed. Hoping they switch those out or get them fixed soon! Will definitely go again.
The Putnam is always a good place to go...for all ages. The National Geographic movies are so educational, amazing and inspiring. There needs to be more promotion and support from the community. Only one con would be the outside landscaping and upkeep (garbage and cigarettes) need to be cleaned up daily...and show the pride and respect this facility deserves to be seen as before you enter...for children of all ages. Surprised there is not a local landscaper that would want to show their stuff and make rhis museum shine on the outside. But we love all of this place has to offer.
Was in from out of town and enjoyed most of the museum. Would have stayed longer and didnt get to see everything because there were some children there for a field trip for school who were super loud and extremely rude running around the entire place. If the teachers and chaperones had more control over them, it would have made it a more enjoyable experience and think at some point staff members shouldve stepped in to tell them to settle down. Good to go when field trips arent scheduled.
Great local science museum with exhibits great for all ages!
Love taking the kids. So many things to see and do including hands on exhibits showing how different things work. Fun for the whole family from my 2 year old, to 5 year old, to 40 year old mom and dad!
This is a family friendly interactive museum. Some of the exhibits need some care but it is still worth a visit. My teenaged son and I visited during the exhibit they had on race. It was very insightful and the price is comparable to other museums with similar exhibits.
This place is amazing. We had a great time exploring the museum, well worth the price.
It’s great that the QC area has this. There’s a lot to see, from physical sciences and engineering to the history of this area. However, this museum needs a lot of maintenance. A lot of exhibits don’t work, need to be fixed, or need cleaning up. I hope the museum can get some financial help for these things.
Nice place to take the family
Great exhibits, honestly figured we would see the same things we have for years but they have mixed it up. Enjoyed the experience and the element demo!
Had a day with great grandma before school starts! She brought us here for the first time 13 years ago and we have loved coming year after year and now bringing our children!
We had a lot of fun here! Plan on spending at least 2-3 hours here and add a few more if watching a movie. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We couldnt get our dinosaur exhibit pictures to send to us though which was a bummer. Hopefully they will look into an attendant being there to help answer questions.
Always love going here ... close to every week 3-4 times a month
A fun and interactive museum that encourages learning. Fun for all ages. Been there many times with my boys.
Cool science exhibits. The day we went there happened to be a special event in the imax theatre so they only showed one movie and it wasn’t until late in the day. I have toddlers and after about an hour and a half they were ready to go.
Where else can you introduce a child to a mummy, and let them hands on explore physics. They had no clue they were learning. It was just a great adventure. And they are asking to go back. That is the best praise any place can get.
Hands on areas are super great for kids that like projects! Very fun for kids to dress up and use imagination.
Things change here frequently enough to warrant a revisit if its been a while! We went back today after about a year or two and most of it has been remodeled and changed up. There is more kid friendly options than I remember. Today we got signed up for a great deal for a family of 5, $80 for 1 year of free visits, 6 free guest passes, and with it we can apparently get discounts at other places.Great deal for family fun! Took us several hours to see everything. Kids didnt want to leave!
Awesome time here, kids 10 and under will have a blast with the hands on experience exhibits! Pro Tip: get the city brackets that make it buy one get one free!!
It was very nice and educational. There were plenty of hands on experiments to do. Everything was well organized.
So much fun in the kids learning center that my kid wouldnt even stop to take a picture with me
My daughter loves visiting museums, so we thought wed check this one out while staying in the area. We live in the Chicago area and frequent the museums downtown, so we werent expecting anything as massive, but we were pleasantly surprised by how much there was to do! While its definitely not as big as the Chicago museums, it is waaaay more affordable, and all of the hands-on exhibits were really fun for my daughter. We ended up staying the whole day! We definitely recommend this museum.
Five stars because this museum exceeded my expectations. Came here with my little kid cousins and they LOVED IT. Friendly staff, educational, and fun! Looking forward to another visit soon!!
Great place to visit when you have nothing better to do
Havent been in a while. Same exhibits, would like to see something new. Overall had an amazing time!!!
Very interesting exhibits. You can definetly learn something.
A pleasant and affordable little science center/museum combo. A lot of exhibits are currently under renovation, but those still available are engaging and fun. Makes for a good hour or two, likely more for younger visitors.
Very neat and organized museum Ive ever visited so far! Staff is very welcoming and friendly! A great variety of exhibits, the giant screen and the choice sample was great. Kids really enjoyed! Keep up the good work!!
Spent entire afternoon at Putnam for The Polar Express pajama party and it was a great time. Will do it again!
Ive been taking my kids there for years. We also enjoythe IMAX 3D.
Though young (9, 6 and 3) grand-daughters had a delightful visit. There us enough to learn/do of all ages. I at 66 learned something. However, had little time to learn more running after excited little ones.
Putnam Museum and Science Center is a wonderful place for any families looking for a smaller museum to visit. It has all sorts of different exhibits and experiences, from meeting dinosaurs to playing a laser harp. The employees are great, the concessions are convenient, and the gift shop is full of goodies. Id very much recommend it.
Best place for kids of all ages. Stimulating
They have fixed some exhibits but still had quite a few that were not working. Other than those interactive displays I really like the meusum. Ive been taking my kids there for years.
My two young boys & myself love to go to the museum! It keeps us busy for several hours & is affordable. It is good for kids 3 & up but my 2 year old still has a lot of fun. Dont miss the virtual reality area!!
Great IMAX theater showing Apollo 11. Amazing. Nice history museum, with some science.
I love this museum there was hardly anyone there and the exhibits were interactive. I enjoyed this more than the science and industry museum in chicago
Was very educational lots of fun with hands on displays. Enjoyed ever minute we spent there. Love the dinosaur screen.
Wonderful addition to the QCs. Our nephews love the science learning center, theyve come a long way since we last visited. Great learning experience for kids And adults!
It was nice to be able to learn the history of the local area. The science center was cool, but I wish it was bigger!
Nice for kids 10 and under. Lots to look at.
Great for a little family outing. Many different things to see and interact with. I liked the race exhibit, there were many educational things throughout the whole museum, and the gift shop is pretty cool too.
Very fun for a weekend away, took about 2 hours to see everything. Staff was amazing and the exhibits were super cool!
Was there for a wedding reception tonight. Did not know they did those there and was pretty great setup.
Pretty cool. I remember it being better though.
This is a great place to take the kids. Its also great for school trips. They have IMAX 3D movies that you can watch. Theyre movies are educational. They also have a lot of interactive things in their museum. I highly encourage you to check it out if youve never been here.
Awesome place!! There is so much to do here! People of all ages will find something to enjoy at this place!
Though I now live in Atlanta, the Quad Cities is my hometown area. I grew up going to this museum and the many events held here. It has changed, grown and improved over the years. This museum is a lovely place to visit for people of all ages! Learn about history, natural science and whatever subjects are being offered in the movies on their GIANT Screen in the Movie Theater. Many special exhibits have been on display at this museum. I saw Princess Dianas traveling exhibit: Diana, A Celebration while it was at The Putnam. What a privilege that this museum was chosen to house this world famous exhibit and a personal privilege to have viewed it!!! It is something I will never forget! Check out this museum...you will not be disappointed! Enjoy all it has to offer!!!
This is a nice museum with lots of stuff to do and is definitely great for kids. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is connected to a school and when we were there, there were lots of bratty kids running wild and going crazy all over. Most of them seemed unsupervised, although there did appear to be a teacher or chaperone here and there. It seems this is where the school and museum let the kids do their play time.
After a two-hour museum experience yesterday with our three visiting grandsons, ages four, seven, and ten, the morning request today was... Can we go back to that museum?. Wellllll... Maybe tomorrow.
An essential museum but needs quite a bit of maintenance.
Lunar party was terrific. The music was amazing and good tasty. Staff very welcoming
Great place to take your kids and have family fun !
Always a fun place! The movie theater is a great time too. Lots of good memories here !
My kids loved playing with all the hands on things. If adults want to look at stuff and get into depth it’s best not to go with kids. I overall enjoyed myself though!
This place is great for the kids to explore! They love all the hands on science exhibits. Plus the movies are a great added bonus. Be sure to check out the gift shop for any gift needs.
Have always supported and liked the museum.SERIOUSLY need to have evening IMAX times. Also need a better website manager.
A great place to visit alone and with the grand kids.
Such a fun and interesting place. Im only giving 4 stars because an unfortunate amount of things were not working. I will go back again and again. With so much to learn and read. I cant remember it all!
We had a lot of fun with the hands on kids activities. Great little museum
Fun and intetactive for kids. Also IMAX theatre.
My youngest saw her first 3D movie.... loved it!!
A lot of fun for my 4 year old. He especially liked the new dinosaur dig exhibit.
Had a fun time. Wish more of the exhibits werent broken. Never found the dino dig room either.
Great place for the family! Lots of fun interactive exhibits.
Fun time with the kids! Have your walking shoes. Handicap friendly. $8 a person
My kids and I sent the day here and love every minute of it. My kids were off their phone and enjoying being disconnected from there internet!
So much fun. Had a blast, so much hands on fun, plenty to see and do.
Took our boys for Christmas Eve and staff was extremely helpful and cheerful. Lots to see and do. Spent 3 hours and didnt realize it cause time flew by. Cant wait to go back
Absolutely amazing and well worth a visit!! We could have spent twice as much time here! We spent at least two hours here and that was rushing through some of the areas. Lots to do and see, something for everyone!
Had a great time got to see a lot of exciting things there recommend to go visit
The race exhibit was very informative and eye opening. Good info and different types of displays to intrigue. Children and teens werent really into it though
Very nice place with great atmosphere here...
Putnam museum was cheap and lots of fun! There are many things that are interactive and it was easy to spend a couple of hours there with kids!
We enjoyed our visit very much.
Our children had a great time doing all the hands on activities and loved the exhibits, there is a ton of things for children to learn about at this museum.
I attended Flourish to support the Living Proof non-profit. We had a great time. It was gratifying to support such a compassionate organization.
Was here years ago. Wow have things changed. There is a lot to do and see. Keep track of where you are. Easy to get lost and hard to find your way out.
Always a good time with the kids
Great local museum. My mother had her mothers handmade quilts on display as well as a nativity scene that I inherited. I also love looking in the gift shop at all the cool things. Great place to take your kids.
The class Mable Woolsey School sure loved it here
I was there for a Meeting so I didnt get to check out all the exhibits but it looked really great. I almost wish the kids were young again in order to take them there.
I will always love the Putnam the staff are really nice and the price isnt bad for a day with the family just went the other day and seen the butterfly movie and learned a lot of info. Only thing I wish they would do is eaither fix the broken exhibits or replace them some of the things have been broken at least5+ years. Overall still a great place.
We came here from out of town and just planned to kill some time here, but found ourselves to be very impressed with what the museum had to offer. There were so many cool things for the kids to interact with. There are many smaller places within the museum to go and explore, we kept discovering new areas. We also caught a movie at the end. We were worried about the kids in a big theater but it was a great experience and not like a traditional theater. It was not too loud and the screen was not overwhelming. Overall we were very happy with our time there and would definitely plan to spend more time there the next time.
I hope to take my future kids here. Also not a bad place to go as adults without kids
Have a year family membership to here. its a great place for kids. I take my daughter when we have free time
