The house is charming as was the guide. It was fascinating to see the place where the first successful abdominal surgery was performed.

This place was amazing. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and even showed us things that aren’t part of the normal tour because we are descendants through Ephraim McDowell’s brother.I could easily spend hours going through this place!!

Went to the museum yesterday and had a fantastic time! The guide was great and very knowledgeable about the history of the house and its previous residents. Definitely opt for the story about the surgery itself, it was really interesting. Its located in Constitution Square, which is also neat to wander around and look at all the little historical tidbits.

Nice historical home right across from beautiful park in downtown Danville. The lady who gave us our tour was very knowledgeable about Dr Ephraim McDowell and his family. Really enjoyed seeing the home and old apothecary.

This small museum is beautifully maintained and the grounds are lovely. Alice was a wonderful guide through the first floor and kitchen and apothecary, and Lauras recounting of the first surgery in Kentucky was riveting.

Highly recommended, especially the tour!
