Affordable day use parking, camp grounds closed (not sure if seasonal only or per covid). Plenty of parking very close to the water. Small waves and kid friendly, but sand is very rocky, so may want to wear sandles with straps or water shoes if you have sensitive feet. Beautiful rainbow rocks to collect along the shoreline.

Ive been camping at Doheny State Beach almost every year since I was a little girl, so this is one of my favorite beaches. But, even when you dont camp there, you can visit just for the day and enjoy the bike trails, long walks on the beach, gorgeous sunset, and campfires at night. This is a great place to bring your family for a fun day out, or a special someone for a romantic beach day.

This is a pretty great campground. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful. The facilities were very clean and well maintained. Most of the sites are pretty good with hedges separating each spot except for in the middle. Check the satellite view on Google to see. Each site is a little small but worked just fine. The entire beach area is really nice too. Great having multiple access points directly to the beach in the campground. There are also sites directly on the beach but cost about $20 more. There is also drinking water access all over the campground. Never seen anything like it! There are bathrooms and showers (for an extra fee). The picnic tables and green spaces in the park are a must visit! Well done California.

Super nice place. The snack bar has more then your typical nachos and there is a bar to enjoy on their patio. The lifeguards are on top of their game and make sure everyone is safe and having fun. Even through labor day weekend with the whole beach packed there was plenty of parking. The current does tend to pull in some spots more then others but the lifeguards will inform you if youre in a bad spot.

This is a small campground but with big possibilities. The campsites are very small. If you have a travel trailer or rv no problem but if you bring a tent or two you will be right on top of the next site. If your concerned with social distancing during Covid some sites may present an issue. The roads within the campsite are monitored multiple times during the day and thus clear of any extra cars that may otherwise block roads. If you have kids that like to ride their bike I think its safe since, for the most part, the roads are not long and thus didnt observe much speeding among cars. Still recommend bringing kids at play sign. Access to the beach is amazing! Even at the campsites towards the back it is a 3 minute walk to the beach. Firewood is available for purchase at the site. If you forgot something for your trip dont worry since there are markets near by outside the camp grounds.

This state owned beach has good parking but you have to pay at a machine, you pay either by the hour or for the day. You have to pay for 2 hours minimum, which is $6.00 or $15.00 for the day. The beach it self has lots of places you can rent to have family gatherings, but there are lots of rocks on the beach sand at by the water. If you like to walk along the shore and pick up rocks and small shells this is great spot to go. There are also places you can rent bicycles and car pedal powered cars. There is a place you can buy alcohol and the restroom were spaced out, but clean.

Very nice! Restrooms were reasonably clean for a beach area. Nice concrete picnic tables and benches, BBQ and grassy areas. There was a large place to buy food, though we didnt check it out as we brought our own food. We were able to social distance quite easily and wore masks to bathroom. You would need to be cautious as a lot of people were not wearing masks, but were making an effort to social distance. Overall really liked it.

Too many rocks in the ocean here. The waves kick up the rocks and pellet right into your feet. It hurt and actually skinned my big toe. Other than that its a lovely beach. There is a trail that starts here and goes 2 miles north. Its right along the train tracks and the beach.

Just a great beach area with lots of amenities for all. You can park really close to the sand and ocean by going south beyond the park and past the RV park which makes it easy to unload and spend some time at the beach. The park has a bar and grill with outdoor seating that is nice, along with picnic tables, grills and a nice grassy area. They recently replaced some water lines along the asphalt paths and did a horrible job of restoring the asphalt. Hopefully this is temporary and will be restored properly someday soon. Definitely one of my favorite beaches in LA for ease of access and cleanliness.

Very nice beach! This beach is small so it could get crowded pretty fast. There is a life guard on watch so it feels safe for the little ones in the water. Since there is a gated community in front of the beach you have to walk a quick 3 minute walk to get to the beach down stairs and a sloped sidewalk. But overall great place to enjoy the day

Great view of the ocean. Long term, short term, and hourly parking. Next to a jetty and marina, so a little bit of a fishy smell. It has a big parking area and park right next to the ocean. Super clean bath rooms with soap and toilet paper. The water was extremely clear and the beaches spotless. Volleyball nets, surfers, & lifeguards everywhere. There are tons of benches, fire pits, and areas to camp out or bar b q right next to the walkway, right before the beach. Lots of trees and shady areas. No wonder they have music festivals here. I absolutely love this place as a family meeting spot! My family and I have been coming here for years. It’s great! There are plenty of giant benches with a BBQ stands. There is an outdoor toilet. There is a place where you can rent a 4 person bicycle! It’s more fun than it sounds! Also, you can talk a walk on the long road that follows the water all the way under the bridge. There are pretty flowers on one side and the beach on the other side. The beach has a volleyball court. This area has space just to lounge out on the sand OR grass! I love it!FYI: Just keep in mind you have to pay for parking! There are patrol cars all over the parking lot and you will get towed if you don’t have the tag on your dashboard!

Doheney State Beach is great, because theres something for everyone. Great waves for surfing, lots and lots of picnic tables and BBQs, a large lawn area, a campground, lots of parking for hourly or day use permits, and a long stretch of beach where all the beach bums can hang out. Absolutely stunning. Waves are manageable for people of any age on most days whether swimming or surfing. Some areas closer to shore are really rocky so bring your sandals if you’re sensitive to that. When you’re done in the water the showers are great and have warm water usually so you’re not going to freeze while rinsing off. Day parking is $15 as of Sept 22 2019 I recommend that rather than running back and forth to the parking meters.
