Interactive screens were out of service per COVID, but overall it was well put together and thought-provoking.
I spent several fascinating hours at the Sixth Floor Museum. There are a good number of physical, audio-visual and interactive exhibits throughout the museum and its a fantastic experience for anyone interested in the JFK assassination. I dont usually opt for an audio tour but it was reasonably priced and very effectively supplemented the information shown by each exhibit. Im told that they update the exhibits fairly frequently so Ill be sure to head back in a couple of years when Im in the city. Highly recommended.
If you are in Dallas, this museum is a must-visit. The employees were very helpful and friendly and informative, and there is a lot of history and signs. You’ll learn more in an hour here than you learned about the JFK assassination than you did in school. Of particular interest is looking out the window where Oswald shot from and looking at the angle - you start to understand why the historical marker outside of the site has ‘allegedly’ carved around it.
Absolutely amazing! Extremely informative museum loaded with original items from the time period. Very easy to navigate and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Please take some time to see this part of American history. I would love to take my family.
It was an awesome experience! Learned a lot . The audio stations were down because of covid but they staggered us well throughout the museum to ensure safety and cleanliness. We stopped by the grassy knoll. Never forget the experience
Did an awesome job of telling a sad story.
This was one of the most interesting museums that I have ever been in. The historical significance of the information and exhibits here are nearlynunoaralleled elsewhere. Tons of information and artifacts from the Kennedy assassination coupled with a very well presented audio-tour that is delivered via the voice of a newsman than was present when the assassination actually occurred. Highly recommended to check this place out if youre in the area- its worth the wait and every penny of the admission price.
Great customer service!! Very informative place to go, stayed for at least 4 hours.
Excellent place to experience the Kennedy assassination in depth. Inside the museum is a wealth of information. Over at the Grassy Knoll is an exhibit that covers the proposed second shooter, as well as, the aftermath at Parkland Hospital. Very educational!!!
Amazing sites to see. History to learn.
Small and intimate museum with just the right amount of displays and behind the scenes information to provide some very basic background on the sad day in american history. Some positive and negatives about the kennedy administration and the policies of the day. Lots of photos of the incident from the different perspectives and types of cameras used.
A somber place to reflect on the unnecessary assassination of such a young President before his time. This place preserves some of the area of the 6th floor but with displays and artifacts related to the event all over. This comes with an audio tour and you can see the area with the snipers nest which is now protected by glass.Only odd thing is the gift shop, dolls, pressed pennies, mint tins, magnets, Christmas ornaments, all surrounding this event? I do understand the need to raise money to help upkept this important landmark of American history, just a bit odd seeing the gift shop, theres also another gift shop and cafe across the street.
Easy parking next to the building. Staff direct you to where to go. Lots of security. Tells the story in detail and provides visual context to help the visitor gain perspective.
Very well done and educational. Covered all facets. Took us a little over 1 hour. Staff very helpful and informative.
Excellant museum. Every detail you need to know. It is a must see. Really worth a trip there
Great info about an important American historical event. Kids loved it and learned a lot. Highly recommend.
Tons of info about the JFK assassination all in one place. Everyone should visit and get a better understanding of that sad day. Ticket sales are only online due to COVID.
I am an art lover and I loved my experience here. The exhibits were awesome!
Mainly photos and interesting narrative display...with a few audio and video loops. All interactive tools and film theater are closed. Not conducive to social distancing. Mask policy enforced.
Was truly worth it to go see this museum dedicated to the 35th President JFK. Lots to read and immersive experience taking one back to the 60s and Dallas in that era.
Was very eerie at times to think I was at the very spot where it happened. The info was very well presented and informative. I was happy I went.
Living in Dallas, I have been there many times. It is an incredible exhibit!I remember being on the 7th floor in 1991 on one of the days they were filming the motorcade for JFK. I cant tell you what an eerie experience it was to be standing at the corner window, (one floor above) watching virtually the same thing Lee Harvey Oswald saw back in 1963. An amazing moment I will never forget...
Outstanding visit and a must for all you history folks.. Clean and well organized during covid-19.. we never felt we were put in an akward situation during our visit. Go See It.
I enjoyed this! But head to the grassy knowle the nicest guy in Texas is there with some amazing information. He is actually the guy who was doing the tv interviews with the key witnesses 20-30 years ago.Doesnt ask for anything in return just loves a conspiracy, very interesting stuff even if you dont beleive in it.
Moments in time that are a part of everyones lives. The imagery and preservation of history is remarkable. The sixth floor museum and moratorium is an amazing tribute in downtown Dallas.
With COVID going on, the team did a great job keeping the space from filling up. Inadvertently making the experience better as you get a clear view of all the items on display and never feel like youre obstructing someone elses view. Would love to see more art & expansion on the 7th floor. That was a nice surprise.
This place articulates the JFK story in a detailed fashion. The best part of it is the self guided audio tour which keeps you engaged throughout the tour. The mix of audio and visual movies with boards holding real pictures and stories of the great President truly never ceases to lose your attention even for a minute. Worth every penny, or maybe more. Check pictures :)
I was really shocked by the depth and breadth of the topics covered within this museum. First 55$ three adults spent 90 minutes learning tons about the assassination of JFK. The views and exhibits are top notch right down to lee Harveys wedding ring made in Russia. They dove (a little) into the who done it. Go see it! This is worth it.
Excellent tour worth the trip to see. lot of information about the president kennedy
This place is fascinating. The JFK assassination took place when I was a child. Looking at the photos I saw in history class, the Texas School Book Depository and Dealey Plaza look large and expansive. Actually seeing them and then standing within feet of the snipers nest, it removes the thoughts of conspiracy theories from ones mind. Everything is close in and compact. There is no doubt in my mind that one man could have done it. Could there have been more, perhaps, but seeing is believing. This is a place to visit more than once in memory of a great President.
Very impressive, impactful and emotional. Beautifully and tastefully done
We have lives here in Dallas for over 10 years and never got around to visiting the Sixth Floor Museum. We had some family in town and we suggested in going here and boy are we glad we did. The family had a great time, from our 7 year old and up it was great history for all ages. Well done.
It is nicely laid out and organized. Very informative. I recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time and beat the long lines
Easy to spend hours in here.
Its interesting, the workers were nice, the lady that takes the tickets is adorable.
This was an EXCELLENT tour of American history. To be more feet away from where history was forever changed was somewhat surreal. I would suggest this for anyone visiting Dallas. The museum store has a lot of cool things too. One very good thing is the audio tour. You get a set of headphones and a device that looks like a cellphone. You can listen and go through the tour at your leisure, which is MUCH better than a guided tour..
An amazing museum experience. Truly unique location and audio tour was included! Parking was expensive but it was good for the whole day in case you have more to do in downtown Dallas.
Amazing! I was not really sure what to expect from this museum after reading through a bunch of reviews. Here is what I have to say after making a visit to this museum. It is a must visit for all. They have done a great job at capturing many details of not only the life of JFK but also this horrific tragedy. I do strongly advise to buy your tickets online before going. I bought mine on Saturday night and went on Sunday morning right when they open at 10am. There was already line and probably half were buying tickets there. When I left a few hours later, the line was even longer. The audio tour is great and maybe the only issue is at times it can get really crowded. But as you nice along there becomes more room and it becomes less of an issue. Well, what are you waiting for? Go! Go now!
A very interesting stop, loads of history,Oh, dont buy the special edition paper from the guy on the street as you can buy the exact same paper in the Museum at half the price!
Thanks to this museum, I have a new perspective on JFKs legacy, the difficulties he faced in office, and how much the political climate in Dallas has shifted. The view from the 6th floor and the grassy knoll were something I had to see for myself to understand the controversial magic bullet theory. I suggest going early and during the week to prevent crowds. Some photos were hard to observe due to placement. But the audio equipment used to guide you provides wonderful information.
The museum is excellent. You get an audio tour included with the ticket. There was a lot to learn and very detailed explanations. Sad but very educational. My 1 years old daughter was amazed by the narrative and the images. A must go, no matter where you are from.
Really great experience$18 for adults$16 for seniorsKids under $5 are freeA full tour and thorough explanation of President Kennedys life, time in the white house, and assassination and beyond. Model replicas a few times and the exact spot of where the rifle was used to assassinate him. Kind of surreal, sad and just monumental in feeling. Worth the money. The gift shop is really cute with lots of unique things relating to the Kennedys.
I have not seen this, but lived in Dallas in 1978. I think this would have been before they opened the museum. At that time, while I was there, they closed off downtown completely for a couple weekends in a row, and did experimental gun shots audio re-enactments of that fateful day perhaps to gain new perspectives. Went pretty much both Sat and Sun, all day. Some of the radio stations were there and played the shots being fired from different angles. It was spooky for sure. Chilling. As I say at that time it was just a building.I was about 6 yrs old when JFK was shot, and still remember the shock of my parents. My dad came home early from work to console my Mom.So it would be very interesting to visit this, I think.
Excellent self guided audio tour. Explores many angles of the time. Get tickets in advance on line as they are times entry and plan to spend 1.5-2 hours.
You can be an investigative journalist and sift through clues. Its also like agood vantage point.
This is an amazing experience! If youre ever near, you should definitely go. Definitely worth a visit. It is phenomenal to be able to look back on history like you can here.
Their gift shop across the street wasnt selling tickets due to a technical error. We tried to wait until the Museum opened it doors at 10 am, but after seeing what had occurred outside, you could clearly see how JFK was assassinated. So we skipped it.
Very informative piece of history. When we went it was extremely crowded. I highly recommend buying your tickets in advance. We bought 1pm tickets and still did not get in until 1:45pm. If we would have bought them at the window when we showed up they were selling tickets for 2 hours later so be advised. I would also highly recommend the audio tour as it gives insight you would not have known otherwise. We also parked in the garage right down the street from the museum and that made for easy parking and getting in and out of there.
Excellent audio tour of the 6th floor Museum. Great detail and background this tragic and historic event. Highly recommend you visit when in Dallas. This museum and Texas BBQ are not to be missed.
So wonderfully organized! We highly recommend visiting when in Dallas/Texas.
A fascinating way to get an overview of the U.S. history in the 60s, and to learn more about the the pre and post assassination stories, as well as the details of that fateful day Nov. 22, 1963. Well curated, complimented by video, and an audio tour. Being in the book depository takes it to another level. This is very popular. Advance ticket purchases are recommended. I got mine on my phone. You can get additional discounts if you have a Dallas coupon book, Dallas CityPass.
Provides great education and incredible artifacts from one of the saddest moments in U.S. history, the assasination of President John F Kennedy. This experience is a walking tour with audio clips provided at stations using headphones and a small recording device. Took about 2 hours.
It is a good place to go.I didn’t go into the museum but the conspiracy story by the volunteers standing there is much more interesting than the actual 6th floor museum.
Really enjoyed this experience. Well laid out, extremely informative, love the audio guided tour where everyone received headphones and were able to enjoy the exhibits at their own pace.Despite the number of people in the museum, I didnt feel rushed or cramped at all because we were free to explore each area according to our interests. The current exhibit on the upper level is also spacious and very nice, the staff at the ticket counter was very friendly and sweet, and the gift store had a lot of delightful souvenirs to choose from.Certainly a well planned and extremely well executed use of such an iconic landmark of American history. Wonderful!
This is a great piece of history to visit in Dallas. You can tour the building from which Kennedy was shot from and you can go to the grassy knoll where the fabled second shooter was located. Super sweet area to get a mini history lesson as well as a nice place to relax.
A great museum to visit. I wouldn’t suggest it for small kids as they will definitely get bored. The audio tour was excellent and I spent about two to three hours there. Not American myself but citizen of the world I got some goosebumps while going through the Kennedy story. I have to be honest that I got too emotional. Definitely worth visiting when in Dallas!!!
Very interesting information, plenty to see and experience. Well organized event with the crowds. Came on a busy day which can be overwhelming but staff were helpful on ensuring everyone was moving at a steady space. Highly recommend.
A small but well made museum. The audio tour was very well done and gave a lot of great detail. You have to wear headphones the whole time. I really enjoyed all the photographs and videos from the incident and investigations. Its also fun to go walk around the plaza and see how it all went down. The distances are all much smaller than Id imagined.
Historical place in Dallas. Very small and somewhat expensive but still worth it
This place has some amazing facts...check it out
Hard to say you love a place when you know you are visiting the site of a national tragedy. But the museum does a wonderful tribute to President Kennedy that doesnt just focus on his death. They discuss the times and how the Kennedy family influences the atmosphere and thinking of the 1960s. Also, they show how Kennedys memory still influences the US to this day. Highly recommend going to this place of history for all ages
This was my second time experiencing the museum. I absolutely love it. My fiance had never been and hes not from Dallas so I thought it would be a great opportunity. We really enjoyed it even though it was much busier and crowded than the first time Id went. They have made additions and exhibits that were not there 10 years ago which I loved even more. Id always go back for this experience no matter how many times Ive already been. I love that you can go at your own pace with the audio and visuals. Love the store thats also inside. A but pricey but thats expected. Always a wonderful experience.
The museum does a good job of providing the full context for the JFK presidency and this event in US history. The museum was full when we were there and the reaction of the patrons added to the experience for my children. It was nice to show my kids this part of US history to provide them the context. I think they left understanding that JFK was the boomer version of their Obama. I hope my children will not take public service for granted nor the impact of the alteration of a US presidential election result.
Building is the location from where Lee Harvey Oswald gunned down President Kennedy. Turned into full museum with visual, video and audio presentations all about this tragic day Nov 22, 1963. A must see place if you are ever in Downtown Dallas, TX. I was amazed how the entire street location still looks the very same as it was on this historic day that changed our nation forever and sadly ended the life of our beloved President Kennedy.
Theres so much detail here about the Kennedy assassination and his legacy. An audio guide helps you to navigate everything section and talks about the exhibitions. I highly recommend this place as it is a very important historical documentary of this country.
Lovely historical place with so much attention to detail. Great audio visual aids and a fun experience.
Would be better with self guiding system. Walking around reading captions on displays during Covid wasnt enjoyable.
One of the best museums I have visited. I really enjoyed the detailed tour. One of the first times I have used headphones for a tour. After my visit I felt so knowledgeable about the events that occurred. It is better for kids that are a little mature or older. My three year old and 22 month really got antsy. We also didnt get them headphones. When in Dallas, this is a must visit.
Six years after visiting; still fresh in my mind.....excellent facility; great staff!
I took my grandfather in 2013 it was his last wish before he passed this place was amazing! Strongly recommend everyone to see this important part of our history
Very interesting. They do a good job with the social distancing.
We went when it was really busy but it was still fun and pretty formative. The muesum isnt too big but they have a audio tour guide on a little headset. If youre trying to bring kids this probably isnt the best muesum. They also have a student discount if you ask. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit.
Definitely a must see if you plan to visit Dallas. Plan to spend around 2 hours, not including waiting for the ticket! I strongly suggest buying tickets online prior to going here. We arrived unprepared to a very very long line, just to buy the ticket. While in line we noticed people without tickets going to the back of the line and people who had bought tickets online going outside to wait for their scheduled time.I figured if I bought the ticket on my mobile I could technically just jump the line. I did just that and it was emailed to me in seconds. Within 20 minutes we had started the tour.It can get very crowded as the space isnt that large, especially around the TVs which have a 5 to 8 minute clip. People tend to congregate around before continuing on. Other than that the exhibit sets a stage for the 1960s and then focuses on the day JFK was shot and then everything that came after.I recommend coming here, if youre into history and appreciate exhibits. It did get slightly dull near the end but it was a good $18 spent. I suggest probably not bringing your children as the exhibit doesnt really cater to kids.
Half open (no interactive stuff, audio, movies) yet full price, plus additional expensive parking. Overpriced but still worth seeing.
The guided audio tour is fantastic. The museum is wonderful curated. This is a must visit in Dallas. My only complaint would be the crowd. They let people in as fast as they can and it can get really crowded really fast which takes away from the experience. If you can get between two groups then it helps.
This Is the place to learn all about JFKs legacy and his assassination - its where it happened afterall. Be prepared to stand for a while as the exhibit narrative is detailed and extensive. Took about an hour and a half even after skipping some bits. Youll be riveted.
Really enjoyed the museum. You get a handheld smart device and headphones that take you back in time and walk you through the history of JFKs presidency and the assassination. My 11 year old took it all in and not once was bored where he wanted to cut it short.... They preserved the spot where Oswald took the shots and have a replica of the gun. On the ground in Dealey Plaza, you can see the window on the 6th floow and they have marked the road with Xs where it all took place. Interactive History!
I love this museum! It really captured the historic feeling of the tragic day President JFK was assassinated and respectfully tells the story.
It was definitely surreal to visit the such historic locations... truly remarkable. The museum does a great job at walking you through the amazing history during JFKs visit and what ensued. Well put together.
The place has such historical significance, it needs more than a headset and endless panels of text. I was underwhelmed and felt the absence of a personal, emotional connection. It should be more of an experience, and less of a low-budget walk through. I left there wanting something more.
Such a well done museum, covering all the official angles as well as a lot of the conspiracy rumors. Get your tickets in advance, it is definitely worth the price of admission.
Such a wonderful, historic place. I’ve only been here once in the summer of 2016, but I will definitely be coming back. The entire place is so interesting and the audio tour is wonderful. It can be a little pricey with parking but if you are one that really appreciates history (especially the JFK assassination) then you will NOT be disappointed. Takes a good look into JFK’s life all leading up to his death. Involves conspiracy theories revolving around this subject as well. Very exciting for adults and teens!
I am in love with History and Sixth floor museum has it all figured out. Beautiful displays with so much to learn. Takes you right to the day the fatal shots were fired. It can be a little busy, so buy your tickets online to make for a way faster wait. Once you’re in, slow down, listen and look, read and dive into this infamous day of US History. Unforgettable.
Grabs your attention right in the door and holds it all the way through! Very informative, the audio is easy to listen to. Several people outside the museum trying to sell you souvenirs though.
This museum was really informative and moving. I didnt know what to expect but the self-guided audio tour probably takes close to 2 hours and was much more than I was expecting. If you are in Dallas you should really check this place out.
Very educational. We enjoyed it very much although we do have that sad heartbroken feeling experience as if we had witnessed the events. Very well exposed and fairly priced.
There are a good number of physical, audio-visual and interactive exhibits throughout the museum
Very cool place! I will could have stayed longer! If you are looking for a place to learn something interesting, this is the place. Even if you think you arent interested, you will find something in here that you love. From the audio tours, video presentations and images, to the very real exhibit that truly lets you experience history, this is an awe inspiring place. I highly recommend it!
Wow, so many pieces of memorabilia! Such a tragedy - the assassination of JFK and all the speculation surrounding it. We took a tour that went down the motorcade route, the path that oswald took back to his rooming house, where he shot JB Tibbit, the Texas movie theater where they found Oswald, by the courthouse, saw the ramp where Jack Ruby shot Oswald, the grassy knoll, the Xs on Commerce street where JFK was shot and the 6th floor museum. Make sure you have plebry of time to look around as there are alot of pictures, 2 short films - one covers the events after JFK was shot as well as the funeral. Also, be sure to get the audio tour as it provides more i information than just looking at the pictures. Very moving and educational. Definately worth going to and taking older kids to learn history.
Best way to understand history and facts about Kennedy’s last days, hours and seconds.... audio guide included in ticket price.... found most of crows was Americans and we were the few outsiders but I really would recommend a visit there! Singular pictures, and conspiracy theories included!!! Don’t miss it!
Reasonably priced entrance and a great audio tour that gives good info on the state of the nation and world affairs surrounding the whole event. Definitely a must see even if the presentation is tainted.
Was in town on a business trip and had a half day to burn. Was told by a coworker that this was a great place to check out. MAN..he wasnt kidding. I had such a nice time walking the museum. They give you headphones and your own screen on a lanyard to walk the museum at your own pace and its more self-guided opposed to walking through with a live guide. I recommend this to anyone visiting Dallas who is looking for a very educational tour. You can sense the somber feeling in the building and out onto the grassy knoll.
Youve got to set foot on the grassy knoll if you are going to the 6th Street Museum.
Great historical collection of photos and information!
Parking is $10 and good until 6pm if you use the museum parking lot.. Tickets for the museum are $16 for adults...The ticket line went fast but the waiting to get in was long..You get an audible headset to listen to that guides you around.. Absolutely NO pictures allowed to be taken in museum..I heard security get on someone who tried... The museum was packed and there is so much to see...I enjoyed it alot.. Standing in the window and looking down you can imagine that day in your mind..My heart was heavy... I didnt think the bookstore or gift shop really had anything to offer...I would recommend going here..It is a great part of American history all around!!
This place was amazing, also very sad. I learned a lot about not only the assassination but also the history of JFK, much of which I either did not know or had forgotten. The audio tour is put together well and was well narrated. It’s crazy to be that close to history, would def recommend
A must see! Definitely worth the walk through. It will get your mind thinking about what really happened that day when our president was murdered
Amazing audio tour feature. It almost tells you Oswald wasn’t responsible. Talk to the vendors and homeless people. They’ll tell you the truth too!
