8/14/2018We did this room with 6 people total - 2 experienced players and 4 newbies. I signed up for the Dollhouse room based on the online description - I wanted a creepy room and they do a good job of selling that online, but once the lights eventually came on in the room (10 minutes into the game) I was a bit let down. The props they had in the room fit the theme quite well...I just wish there were more of them. With all the resale and thrift stores in the area, they really could have gone to town with the props and decor...Regarding the puzzles - some of these were quite frustrating and not because I found them difficult. Many solutions were much longer than they ever need to be, especially when youre on a time limit. Good solutions should be 4-10 characters long, at least in my opinion - after that, it just gets to be confusing and boring. We did escape the room, and the first-timers in the group did have a good experience and felt like they achieved something, which is great. Overall, I did have a good time, but I think part of that relates to watching the newbies explore their first room. Unless Im invited to the room by someone else, I dont think I would go back to attempt the other games.

The Treehouse escape room was challenging, but we had a ton of fun trying to figure out the clues. Jeff was great at giving hints without giving anything away. Definitely look forward to trying out other rooms.

We had a team building event here and it was really fun! Our host was super friendly and helpful with clues. We did the 1902 Ship themed one and it comfortably fit our group of like 10 people. There was lots of clues to divide and conquer. We were just one clue away from escaping, we couldve made it out if we had had 1 extra minute! We definitely want to go back!

We were on Elm St. and thought oh, a room escape that would be fun. Website says we open at 5. We arrive at 5 and door says sorry we are closed I have called 3 times. Each time, no one answers and the voicemail says the box is full and you cant leave a message. Dont believe I called? See attached photo.

Had a really great time in the Theatre room! We didnt solve it, but we were being a bit stubborn (and werent keeping the best track of time) and didnt ask for any hints. The room, puzzles, and props were all fantastic! My only recommendation would be to ask for help if you get stuck on something for too long. Regardless, it was a lot of fun! Cant wait to try another room!

Fun rooms, helpful staff. Weve done two of the rooms and have found both complex but ultimately not hard enough to lose interest. These are the first two we have ever done, so we are beginners, but without the help from the staff that we received, I feel confident that an experienced team would be challenged.

Pretty average escape room experience but located right in the middle of Deep Ellum. I dont see myself coming back here without another Groupon deal, but it certainly wasnt bad with the discount we had for a party of 8 on Groupon. The puzzles were quite creative and I really appreciated not having too many find the combo/key to this lock puzzle, but some of the props/room seemed really worn and the workers at the escape room didnt seem all too stoked to help us out with clues or actively moderating the room.

Gotta be honest. I have done a couple of places for escape rooms and I wont be back here. The theater room was tiny for a group, the jigsaw puzzles were falling apart, the banners didnt line up properly, and like most have stated, this place is just a lot of lock opening. There werent a lot of places to explore so some of us were just left standing around bored. Nothing about it was exciting or made a lot of sense. There are much better escape rooms out there. And the place will probably leave me an automated response or an excuse about how I didnt do x and y or something to detract from the fact that their establisment is not worth your time.

What a fun escape room! I would say we are veterans of escape rooms. We have visited over 20 rooms in various facilities. Room with a Clue has got to be one of our favorites! I love the atmosphere of a small-locally owned business. It may not have all the distractions of a large franchise as in other clue rooms we have visited, but the clues were fantastic and cohesive with the theme. We cant wait to try another room next time we are in the area.

I really enjoyed the Theater escape room. It required a bit of technical theatrical knowledge which I didnt have, but fortunately someone else in our group did have theatrical expertise and was able to help. I have been to several different escape rooms and I enjoyed this one more than other locations. If you are looking for something fun to do in Deep Ellum, then I highly recommend this escape room!

Pretty disappointing escape room experience, puzzles only involve unlocking boxes with malfunctioning locks over and over. No cohesion or flow to the story. Staff were great. There are better escape rooms in the area that have much more to offer. Not a good value for your money.

Just look at the responses the so-called owners give if someone gives a bad review and that’ll give you an idea of how bad this place is. The only good reviews are from people that have never been to quality escape rooms. Don’t waste your money.

A Room With a ConundrumWe journeyed out to Room With A Clue on a Saturday night with 4 friends, who were all newbies, in tow. Its in a great location right in the heart of everything. The gentleman at the front was very welcoming and friendly. The lobby was nice and fit the quirky vibe of the area. We had chosen the Dollhouse room, which is built around the tale of a crazed killer so everyone was excited. Our friends all loved the beginning but I found it frustrating. While I understand what the room designer was going for because it did create tension, I am not a fan of rooms where everyone has to cram around a single clue in order to move forward. As we progressed I found a mixed bag of pros and cons. There were some fantastic clues and some that were more confusing than helpful. The decorations were sparse, but the dolls (not a spoiler since it is called the dollhouse after all) were suitably creepy. The locks were not cheap quality but some of the directional locks required multiple attempts because the codes were long and easy to mix up when entering. I will note that there are a couple of puzzles where you NEED to pay attention. Keep your eyes and ears open. Also, use any writing tools youre given to break things down and then go back over it and break them down again to make sure you have it right. In the end, we escaped and all the new escape artists were thrilled. Everyone felt accomplished, which is the goal of these spaces, and a good time was had by all. My feelings on this room are mixed, though. I am happy that everyone enjoyed themselves, however, there were some puzzles that just drove me crazy. Not because we couldnt solve them but because they were rather annoying, such as the initial one I mentioned earlier. I think overall, though, that most, especially those new to escape rooms, will enjoy the Dollhouse and come out of it feeling happy with their experience.

This place had a lot of problems. The room we were in had a series of puzzles to find combinations for a series of locks. The problem is that the puzzles themselves were non-intuitive and poorly designed. There was no connection between where you were supposed to find the combination and what you were supposed to unlock. Furthermore, the locks themselves were sticky and malfunctioning. Twice, we were stuck and called for hints only to find that we had the correct combination, but the combination lock itself was jammed. Some drop-down flags were supposed to line up, but they didnt. Once, we were supposed to get a combination from a CD, but the CD player didnt work. I even leaned against the locked door we were supposed to escape from, only to find that it sprang open with the lightest touch. So, only go if you like bad puzzles and faulty props. To sum up Room with a Clue, its pointless, frustrating, expensive, and boring.

The games here are delightful and imaginative. Ive played a bunch of escape games and these dont try to copy what everyone else does. They stand out as uniquely fun creations and the owners passion shows through. The staff is so friendly and I love they way they interacted with us throughout the experience.

I am giving it one star because that is what our experience was. But, it could have been a very good experience with just a little forethought and effort by those running the game.I took 3 kids and they were excited to play but the game was well thought out and it was difficult. So, we struggled and struggled and got help a couple of times. Then, the guy comes in and says times up, sorry. He then shows us all this cool stuff we would have seen had we made it to the end. What a letdown and terrible feeling. All he would have had to do is keep us on track with help to where we could experience the whole game to the end. Then it would have been really fun even though we would not have solved very many clues on our own. Instead, for almost $90 for one hour of entertainment, i would never go again to be made to feel that way.

This place was rough. It undoubtedly stays busy due to its location, and maybe the clever name. But ended up being quite humdrum. We did the doll room. It wasnt scary. It was just filled with old, dirty, tattered dolls. In addition, the whole escape was in a single rectangle room. They try to fool you by having a door you assume leads to another room, but when you swing it open it reveals... a wall. Its unfortunate. Theres potential, but it would take a bit of work revamping.

A couple of friends and I did the Doll House room last weekend. The set design was pretty fun. The puzzles were all solid but there was a reliance on one type of lock that was a little disappointing. The room was relatively easy but told a coherent story. The guys at A Room with a Clue were nice and helpful when asking for hints. If youre heading out to Deep Ellum to spend the day I would definitely recommend using an hour here.

Ripoff in a word. We spent several days in Dallas doing escape rooms. This is by far the biggest joke of a company and we were ripped off 186 bucks. The rooms are not of any quality whatsoever. Locks don’t work even when you have right combination. CD player in the theater room doesn’t work. Banners on walls don’t line up for proper clue sequence. The staff member himself didn’t know the sequence because he couldn’t get them to line up. Walkie talkies for communication which they don’t answer half the time when every other company has tv screens in rooms. They have no hidden walls or magnetic trip switches. It’s all just puzzles that unlock cheap locks that don’t work. We get out of most room, some we don’t but it’s all been fun. Until this one. Don’t waste your money with this company. Staff was rude and unfriendly.
