The history is really interesting. I liked the museum and the staff very friendly. The movie was informative and put together well. My only recommendation is to have the house open the same hours as the museum. We couldnt wait until it opened but at least we drove through the neighborhood and got to see the houses from the street.
Fun place...lots of history and friendly staff. I climbed up the 97 steps and got a great view.
Learned alot about the Homesteaders was brave enough to climb the 97 steps uo the tower
Interesting peice of history.
Great place to learn the local CCC history. The view of the Cumberland Plateau is great from the top of the Tower. 97 steps on a very narrow that wraps around the water tank inside the Tower. Nice, brief video starts your tour of the museum. Great artifacts that reflect the local pride. Very worthwhile.
Ive stayed in the Crossville area many times and have took several friends to see the Homesteads! The homes are beautiful and the tower museum is very interesting!
Great history, watch the video its really educational and heartwarming! 97 steps to the to of the tower ... A fun trip up and down
Lots of history about how people came together in hard times
Interesting little tourist stop if you happen to be in the area. The tower is a highlight that is a bit challenging to climb. Your thighs may be sore when all is said and done. Also, the main floor areas aside from the shop have a small fee to view. Bathrooms are available as well. Area to get around the tower to park is a bit funky.
Awesome great information
Interesting .Fair price Check it out if you into learning about the past
A museum that tells an often forgotten story of the depression and FDRs new deal.
Interesting place to visit. Good displays. Interesting information about how early settlers lived.
This museum is definitely a must-see. It depicts some of the local history very well. There are 90(ish) stairs that lead up to the very top of the tower, which gives you a birds eye view and on a clear day you can see for miles. The museum gives you information on the era of the New Deal, which is when the homesteads were first created in Cumberland County. When you finish your visit here you should go to the Homestead house museum about a mile or two away.
Great historic information about the post depression era and the creation of the local stone industry along with a thriving community!!!
Nicely preserved.
A good stop lots to see we enjoied our visit
A neat place. Those tower stairs will get you. A great save. Its a perfect place to take kids. The history comes alive.
A little gem hiding in the open. Great place for those who love to hear about local history
4$ entry fee, the video taught me a lot but was really boring. It was kinda cool, they do have a little gift shop. Going to the top has a good view.
Was amazing. I learned a lot about my family and where we came from.
I love history and this place packs a lot in one small museum. Its inexpensive to tour and I recommend donating extra to help maintain this piece of history. The views from the tower are nice and they hold a little apple festival craft fair here in the fall.
Interesting place telling how local people who were once desperate during 1930s were given the opportunity by FDRs New Deal to become part of the CCC to build their own homes as original homesteaders at this beautiful part of the country on top of Cumberland Plateau. It changed their lives.
More than just an old tower. Its a tower of important American history brought to life!
Place runs off volunteer help. The guy we met today was very helpful and was a fountain of history, not only with what youll find in the museum but experience of passed down knowledge. The tower itself is free to climb, but beware there are a lot of idiots that etch their names on the water tank and the wood at the top. Im sure that if they could they would carve them into the stone walls. Great place to step back in time. An 11 minute video gives a great look into why the place is there. The cost is extremely cheap and for a little more you can visit one of the homesteads. Gift shop has some wonderful items and in the fall they have the best apples for sale.
Very interesting place, its part of the New Deal program that President Rosivelt sponcered. Not wheel chair accessable.
Incredible view of the area, awesome history!
Very interesting place to visit.
A relatively nondescript little museum, but it contains a lot of very interesting lifestyle pieces from the early 20th century.
Interesting displays and info
Interesting cheap $4
Must see! We enjoyed stopping here!
The guy who works here is very knowledgeable on the subject. Its a really neat little place!
Very interesting, people very friendly and helpful. My Mom climbed to the top of tower today on her one hundred second birthdayAll 97 steps.
I got to go up into the tower! The admission fee is only $4 per person. Really neat museum!
Great place of history
The curator was extremely helpful and added a great deal of information while we toured the museum
This is must to see, specifically you like history
A great collection of the history of the Homesteads.
Closed today, but still a great place for historical value. The town, Cumberland Homesteads, is significant, too.
History of the place was great a must see
Great way to learn about the local history.
Interesting history about the depression. $4 to get in and an extra$1 to visit the house. House hours are in the afternoon so plan accordingly.
Great piece of history!
Thx to the museum & nextdoor school for their support of amateur radio!
Never been
A lot of history to learn
Small Museum with a very friendly staff. Lots of information about the homestead and the people who settled here
Very cool!
They ask way to much to visit that tiny museum.
Awesome
Interesting.
Be sure to get pinto beans at the Homestead Apple Festival.
It was great very interesting
Of great historic value.
So much history in this area! The Museum does a great job of bringing the Depression Era back to life - lots of photos and period furnishings.
