Pros: Sports book kiosks are fantastic. They offer great odds on almost all sports. Quick and easy.All the usual table games, low minimums. Never seen them myself but heard the greyhound racing is cool.Cons: you must pay for drinks, even if your spending lots of money on table games. Not the most modern or good looking casino/hotel. They could use a make over. Please make sure the dealers are paying correct odds, multiple times theyve tried to pay me less than posted odds (specifically 3-card poker). Unacceptable.All in all its decent, nothing special. Ill likely return for sports betting when in the area but not really interested in anything else.
We were so impressed and happy with the covid protection that was in place.
We have stayed here numerous times through the years. This last visit was already a letdown due to no pool and none of the amazing breakfast foods. The room was not the cleanest and the gold fixtures are now chrome and gold due to someone using the incorrect cleaner. All of the restaurants in the casino were closed and there was no room service.My suggestions to help would be:Breakfast: Since the old buffet style wont work, the easiest way to serve the delicious hot breakfast would be for each room to put an order in either online or by calling concierge. Their items would be prepared and could be dropped off contactless outside of the room or could be picked up in the lobby.Cleaning: Supervisor checking rooms to make sure they are bring cleaned properly. They should also be sure to teach proper use of cleaning agents and which products to use on each surface.Restaurants: If none of the on site eateries are going to be open, either offer meals via room service again or at least put together a listing of nearby restaurants and contact information. Maybe even see if any would be willing to give hotel guests a discount.I know some of these items seem small but if you want to call yourself a resort and be a destination vacation spot, you cant overlook the little things.
My slot machine messed up as I was sticking my players card in and it disabled the machine. I had to ask for someone twice to come look at it. (It was the only one open). 30 minutes and no one came at all.The players club card will not read the first time you put it into the machine. I have to reenter my card 4 or 5 times before it will read.There is no way to save your machine if you have to use the bathroom or walk up to the bar to get your drink because there are no servers available.We stayed at the hotel a few weeks ago for our anniversary and the pool, hot tub, and fitness center were not open. No one told us when booking, nor was it announced that the fitness center and pool were closed. A lot of the machines were disabled and are still disabled. No restaurants were open either. I do not know what time the kitchen shut down, but I know I wanted food around 2am and it was not open. The casino was open until 4am, though, but no food.I will continue to go here, but I will never pay that much to spend the night in the hotel. I love the variety of machines, even though most of them were disabled and when you need help, you have to look for someone and they dont always come. I had to go to the bar to get my own drink because the server walking around never came back.The place is clean and the staff at the players club are friendly. I also enjoy watching the dogs race and I enjoy playing the machines.The place could use some improvements. I will say that security does a good job.
It was our first time here and we won a little over $800 the first time. There isnt a lot of service, no one offers you drinks. Machines are down I think most on purpose because of Covid, a lot of them. There arent any machines that are like true games, theyre all the same. We didnt get to play a table game although a lot of those are shut down also. Its a nice enough one but there is nothing to eat or open, you can get wings or a sandwich at the bar.
Security guard Jeff was kind, professional and welcoming. He made us feel at home upon check-in. Please commend him for being a valued part of the team. We also had a roulette table to ourselves... How often can you say that? Perks of covid if you can say such a thing.
Not impressed. Had to order food from the bar. Should have ate McDonalds. Would have been better. I ordered boneless wings. Im telling you my dog eats better food than that. Ordered French fries. Nasty. Employees were nice.

As David Chappelle says better not bring your kids. We made a reservation on a site that was not the hotel with 2 adults and 2 children. After checking in and paying for the room the receptionist asks who was with me and then tells me no one under 21 allowed to stay in the hotel. Even though my kids had a sitter with them still unable to stay one night! Also looked online after to find children policies very vague and was not posted as should be.
Nice clean room. Bed and pillows were excellent! The room was also quiet.

Stains on comforter and carpet, cigarette burns in lamp shade or some kind of holes since it was a non smoking room and toilet barely flushed. Had to remove tank cover to stop it from running. No amenities, had to ask for a hairdryer. Casino so so. Will not visit again.
I like it alot, wish we could go down and watch the puppies run. But ya cant.. you have to. Watch from the betting spot in the main floor. And everyone betting on sports so we cant watch the dogs.. they need another simulcast rooms. Alot more
We have stayed in a lot of hotels during this covid ordeal. But this is the cheapest throw your breakfast in a bag i have ever seen. Small thing of milk, juice, oats and honey granola bar, and a small yogurt. I could get a better breakfast at a 59 dollar hotel. Come on. Other hotels still make eggs and bacon and sausage, you can too. Never be back. Cost over 300 bucks for 2 nights and you get a 2 dollar breakfast.
I love the casino.. but the hotel is a different!! We checked in the hotel, the first night was great, but the next morning the toilet overflowed. All over the room !! The maintenance man came up and truwd suctioning all the water, they gave us a different room, however at check out the manager acted like it was our fault the toilet overflowed!!! She only took off $20 off of the room, and act like it was no big deal. It was a big deal, my fiance had wet shoes I had wet shoes and was unconvinced to have to move to another room yet she only took off $20 . She acted like it was our fault she had to move us to another room.we had no control over a overflowing toilet .therefore I would not recommend staying the night at this Resort!!!! try to stay at another hotel even if it means having to get a Uber!!!!
I give this a four star because of COVID! Stop blaming Covid-19 for everything. Get you breakfast back! Open the restaurants. Everyone else is figuring this stuff out and so should you. Put the coffee pot back in the rooms! Bring back things before it ruins a good thing.

With Covid, the spacing of active machines has to be reducing the odds for the players making winning much more difficult...It seemed way to easy to lose

Drove all the way from Louisville to watch the dog races. 2 minutes before post they cancel the races because they don’t have enough people to walk the dogs out. Place looks like it is going out of business at this point. No where to even eat. I use to love this casino sad to see what has happened. I know Covid has changed somethings but I’ve been to a lot of casino over the past 2 months and this one is by far the worst one.
The staff is helpful and pleasant. Various slots with plexiglass for social distancing. Table games with plexiglass are in place.
I expected a 4 star experience but was let down ~room was not ready even though we arrived at 6pm, payouts were far and few between, room was ok however I was traveling with my elderly aunt and requested a handicap bath and it had a tub rather than a walk in shower. Restaurant was closed leaving only the bar food, even with the covid pandemic they could have done better if they were going to be open. Guest across the hall were wild screaming and carrying on both my self and the adjoining room called security it took them almost 20 minutes to arrive after I called . The people in the room next to us must have called first becuase the next thing we heard was a screaming match in the hall. After security arrived and warned the unruly guest they never came back leaving them to party on until 4 am. I would say this is a management issue.
Workers there are very nice and helpful. The facility is very up to date and clean. I really enjoyed my experience here

Our room was filled with bugs, so we switched. The second room we stayed in had neighbors who yelled and shouted until 3:30am. I couldnt call the front desk as the phone in the room didnt work and when I called on my cell phone, I could only get the hotels voicemail.The only compensation offered was a free upgrade should we stay again. No thanks, I will not give this hotel another penny of my money. Awful experience, awful customer service.

Pros: The staff were all very friendly and our room was clean with comfortable bedding. Cons: No refrigerator, coffee maker or microwave and for the price for a room, I feel that is not acceptable for a hotel thats considered a resort. We had a room on first floor which I do not recommend. The walls are paper thin because you can hear everything out in the hallway and in order to get into your room from the main lobby/casino area, you have to use your room key and go through automatic doors which is very noisy when it shuts as guests comes in and out of the door, and you can hear guests on the second floor walking around. You had to eat in the casino area for meals, which we chose not to and went elsewhere for our meals to local restaurants. If youre there only to gamble and dont care about the noise and lack of amenities, you should be satisfied with your stay.
Very nice Casino. Ive been donating to this Casino ever since Ive been in West Virginia for work. The atmosphere is very welcoming and I feel like Im going to win big, every time I go! :) One of the best things there is their Huge Swiss Burger from the Cafe, its so good! Highly recommend Mardi Gras Casino to anyone that enjoys a good time, alone or with friends!

Our first visit here was after completion of their big remodel 2019. The staff was very helpful, hotel room was exceptionally clean, beds extremely comfortable!Casino looks new with many new slots, new carpeting and very clean. Loved no smoking. Restaurants all serve great food and have great service. Everything you could want is here!!
Security and crowd was very safe and friendly. All staff went out of way to assist in any matter. Many areas of the building are outdated and needs some attention. The chairs at dog races are torn up and the machines were all unplugged. The hotel rooms are clean and mattresses are nice. Pillows are extra soft and you might want to bring your own. Bath and Body works shampoo and soaps that are very pleasant.
It is a nice place to come if you want to get out the house and have fun. It can be for all types of gamblers, but experience with machines is a must or else youll lose your money fast
Rooms are substantially overpriced. Was there for four hours and witnessed ZERO major wins. A greedy COVID cesspool. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
I love playing cards with the Veterans during the day time. Never too busy during weekdays, but fun.However there never is any of the entertainment like they show in the commercials. I have never seen a band or women in Mardi Gras costumes.

Casino is very clean and well kept. Breakfast was very good. Rooms are very nice and bed is very comfortable. Wish they had a refrigerator in it. Very convenient when you’re traveling.

Nice. 3 restaurants. Live music and dance floor and a friendly staff. The food in the restaurant overlooking the dog track was very good. I had the fish and chips and a garden salad. The garden salad is welll, you might share it. Lol....Good.Returned to the Casino in November to dine at the restaurant overlooking the dog track. You can dine and watch the races from your comfortable seat and table.I ordered the prime rib and a Cobb salad with mashed potatoes and green beans.CAUTION: The Cobb salad is enough for 2 people or one very hungry person! Delicious! The prime rib was very good too. The potatoes and beans were good but too much food. Lol. Never thought Id say that.
They lied about smoking in there rooms. Said they had proof ashes on bathroom floor. I go to see and they show me pic of a can with ashes. Now i no they lied never get cans. Greedy people
Even with Corona Virus going on they managed to keep their customers happy after reopening.
Considering the virus has everything shut down we could still hit the slots, bet the dogs and have a drink and bite to eat. Would go back but not until it is back @ 100!
This is a nice place, but Im not sure if I would call it a four star hotel like their site says. I have differently stayed in some much nicer four star hotel. The carpet in my room was differently old and needed replaced. But the casino is very nice and big for a East coast casino, and the complimentary breakfast at the hotel was awesome.
Not somewhere I normally go. I dont gamble. This was a group thing. We ate at the French Quarter. I had the shrimp and grits. It was fantastic, as was the wedge salad. We also went to Louies lounge and listened to the band. Nice venue. The prices are pretty expensive, the food is great though. Weird thing, we had 7 people with us, we were told, by the hostess it would be an hour wait. We decide to go to the bar to get drinks. She hovered over us and told us we were not allowed to order food because the kitchen couldnt handle the orders. They had 3 large tables and they couldnt handle anymore. We waited for well over an hour, we were never called to a table. We ordered food at the bar and had no problems getting our order.
Its great! Super clean and the entire staff is quite inviting. They offer deals all the time and I recommend you start there. They offer several ways to get started with gambling or other forms of entertainment without breaking your bank. I had a delightful time.
Awesome Casino!!! Tons of Slot Machines. Self serve drink machines are the best!! Also free coffee too! This is a non smoking casino which makes it better. Lots of card tables and a huge sports TV area. This has been newly remodeling for 2020. Its a MUST SEE Casino. The Hotel connected to the casino is awesome too!!!!
We really enjoyed the greyhound track/casino combination. The entire facility was clean and well kept. Staff was friendly, gracious and helpful across the board. Well stay here again on our next trip through.

Mardi gras casino was great. They take everyones temperature as you go in, you are required to wear a mask, only every other slot machine is turned on and there are plexiglass partitions at the table games. It was very clean and i felt very safe.

Stopped in on my way through town, what a great place! They have $5 table games (craps, blackjack, and 3 card pocker). The staff are friendly and joked around with us. Drinks are cheap and I spent $100 in about 3 hours that includes gambling, drinking and tipping. Good price for entertainment, I would have left with more than I came in with if I didnt get greedy.
Cant say about Mardi Gras, because I never got there. Explanation: Google Maps turned me around in a traffic jam, North of the Virginia border, which was helpful at the time. Then, directed me to some place in downtown Charlotte. I wound up travelling 300 miles, total, for no obvious reason.
Cute miniature casino in WV. Rooms are clean, staff is nice. Pros: indoor saltwater pool, $20 free play when you register for their players club, food court in casino looks good. Louies Lounge behind casino has live music on weekends. Cons: French Quarter sit down restaurant in casino is very expensive and just regular (definitely not New Orleans French Quarter) food, no cajun/ creole menu items at all (we shouldve just left and went to food court.) Overall its a cute little place. Not a destination site, but if youre passing through the Charleston area anyway check it out.

I went to play blackjack on a $10 table. Some of the dealers weren’t very helpful for people that had questions and one of the dealers make three mistakes so we had to take 3 cards of oils play but were refused a reshuffle. Nice small casino and for the most part people are very friendly and knowledgeable
Firstly - the staff is excellent. They are kind, efficient and just so darned nice! Everyone, from restaurant wait staff to security to folks who go around cleaning up, is very courteous and welcoming!We only ate at the Orleans Cafe, but it was truly excellent food for a great value.The poker room is kind of sad, but we got there on a weekday (Tuesday) so maybe that was the issue. There was only one table (total) running, a 1/2 NLH. It was a soft game, so if youre looking to make a bit of cash and know how to play, this might be the place for you. You wont make a ton because they dont call off huge bets, but if you can dodge a chase now and then, you can chip up. They had a PLO tourney that night and only 8 people signed up for it. The next day I wanted to play some poker in the morning but the poker room didnt open at all before we ended up having to leave (1pm). They also had a fairly limited number of slots to play, if youre into that, but Ill note that there were very large sections undergoing renovation, so I suspect normally the selection is much greater. They had the standard table games (blackjack, 3-card, Mississippi stud, criss-cross) a well, and the dealers were very helpful and pleasant. I had never played criss-cross before and our dealer would look at my hand and give me advice on what to do. And it was good advice, as I quadrupled my buy-in within about an hour!All in all, we truly enjoyed our stay at the Mardi Gras
Has improved a little bit you cant park out back its employee entrance only you used to be able to park out there and go in found that out the hard way the other day they changed it around where its a lot brighter in there which personally I didnt like and also theyve set it up to where they can see every nook and cranny of that place standing pretty much anywhere it seems kind of tactical to me which is good and away but I feel like Im being pured upon all the time I mean isnt all the cameras in the ceiling enough but you know it is what it is one a good bit of money there the other day so I guess I cant be too upset anyways check it out make your own decision

The resort is nice and very clean. I was disappointed that coffee was not available in the hotel after 10. They give free breakfast but only until 10 on weekends. I wish they would extend the hours until 11. The coke machines were broken and housekeeping was not accommodating in giving free water. Overall the casino was a lot of fun.

We went for my husbands birthday and had a blast. The dealers were cool, place was clean, and it was a lot of fun. We went on a night where there was some kind of rearranging being done so not all of the tables were open but there were enough to still have a good time.

The hotel is very nice. i got a handicapped room with a bath chair. the tub was too slick to use it. id rather buy a breakfast than eat at the breakfast buffet. the machines are extremely tight, but i still had a good time
No poker table open which is why my husba.d wanted to go fir his 40th bday. Kinda disappointed about that.
Went to have a good time and they said I had to many alcoholic beverages and told me to leave. Thought the reason to go to a casino was to have a good time. We had a designated driver which didnt matter to them.
