I love the ghost tours here. I get bored easily and let me tell you if I loved this, and never felt restless to leave, you will love it too. The staff shares personal ghost experiences the home is architecturally preserved and the whole place just gives you that Halloween fix you’re looking for.
Friendly, helpful staff, plenty of parking on the grass, but no reserved handicapped parking which was a problem for a few of the guests. People who had to set up equipment had a hard time getting near where they had to set up. The guests were well treated. Recommended for a wedding or other special occasions.
I must say I was disappointed with the ghost tourNot at all scary. Just anecdotes about people who may or may not have experienced something out of the ordinary. The write up said prepare to be scared. No period dress. They said it was too cold .
The people were so wonderful and kind. Thank you for the tour!
Amazing historical site. Trails are beautiful and serine.
Best place to get fresh local produce. So glad they adjusted for the pandemic.
I have not explore the area for hike but seen people coming with their dog where can run freely. Ive seen mountain bikers. I am sure it us nicer in spring and fall season. I was hoping to catch farmers market I figured out is is on Saturdays. I went there on Sunday, but may be next time.
It is still closed but the grounds were nice.
Great trails to walk
Sundays Farmers Market is great. Very well organized and so many vendors. Was better than the fair
Trails here are awesome! Great for biking and hiking.
Great place to visit. Our docent, Barbara, was very knowledgeable. Well restored. Interesting history. Beautiful grounds.
Nathan wasnt there when we stopped in, but there were some people who showed us around his house and told us some very interesting things about his life and his home. Worth checking out.
Great place to take the kids. Very historic. Go on a Sunday and make a day of it at the farmers market.
Great historic site. We go weekly for the farmers market in the summer. Its crowded, but a lot of fun.
This is a beautiful place, we attended a Naturalization Ceremony there so it was a fitting setting. We were given the opportunity to tour the homestead while there. Its a step back in time, reminiscent for me of Greenfield Village homes in my home city of Detroit, Michigan, complete w/period garbed guides. Think Sturbridge Village or Mystic Seaport here in the East.
Beautiful grounds. Came for Farmers Market. Lots of good stuff.
Interesting part of American History, although those who lead the tour have a limited general knowledge Early American History. It appeared that their info for tour was scripted.
Expensive to visit the inside of the house. Entrance not clearly marked. They do their best for disabled parking and entrances.
Beautiful views and the history behind it was soo cool
If you like history and spies you will enjoy the Hales homestead.
The Nathan Hale Homestead is a fine museum in its own right. They offer excellent programs (e.g. hearth cooking, Ghost tours), and the history is intriguing. The weekly on-site Farmers Market has received quite a bit of well-deserved recognition. You need to arrive early as the parking fills up and traffic can be heavy.
A smaller historical site run by the state but not insignificant. Lots of history here and the docents were happy to see us. We visited when an encampment of soldiers, both British and Colonial, put on some supurb demonstrations. Low admission fee helps. Be sure to include this site in addition to other site visits during a day trip.
Wonderful location for a farmers market and such a beautiful drive through the back roads of CT to get there.
The Nathan Hale Homestead is situated in a beautiful setting in rural Coventry. The grounds are a great place to visit any time of year and they are home to the Coventry Farmers Market held seasonally on Sundays from 10am to 2pm. The Farmers Market has been voted as best in Connecticut by Yankee Magazine. The house was completed in 1776 and contains many Hale artifacts including Nathans gun and his buckskin covered trunk. The Connecticut Antiquarian Society has done a marvelous Jon maintaining this beautiful property.
Beautiful museum, great farmers market
Beautiful grounds and great venders however many people did not appreciate the use of smelly portapots!
Omg best farmers market in the area
My husband and I visited the homestead for the first time on Saturday. I love historic buildings and places. The tour guide Matt was awesome, he took his time and answered all questions we had and was very knowledgeable about the Hale family. The facility has taken great care in acquiring authentic Hale artifacts, BRAVO! Would recommend this place for anyone who likes historic landmarks.
Amazing people, very knowledgeable, loads of fun
Beautiful area with so much to see
Perfect place to spend a few minutes on Memorial day
Well preserved, knowledgeable staff, fun for kids
Nice old homestead, grounds, forest with walking trails, gardens. Coventry Farmers Market in season on Sundays rocks! Over 50 vendors, food trucks. Dog, kid & family friendly.
Very informative tour about Nathan Hale and his family
Awsome place to go with the family.
Not open, and no indication of any activity. Nothing there but buildings.
Very informational, good place for school field trips. Also, the farmer’s market is very good.
Love going here in the summer for the farmers market.
The Coventry Farmer’s Market is fun to go to
AMAZING!!! We will definitely be going back!!!
Best Farmers Market! Excellent Vibes, Enjoy the food, music and surroundings!
Coventry farmers market is a great time for the whole family. The food is to die for a must try on Sunday afternoon.
I grew up around the corner from here and have visited often. I love the feeling of history that I get there.
Great place for a wedding
This place was locked when we got here. Their hours said they would be open online, but they werent and neither was the Strong Homestead. When we called, the recording was for May hours of operation, it is now November. If I hadnt have driven an hour to be here, I wouldnt be so upset, but alas, I did. My advice is to call first.
Memorial Day weekend was amazing at this property. The Flag Field of Heros is so moving.
Loved the history of the place!
Beautiful home and property
You should definitely check out the museum at Nathan Hale they got some great artifacts that a couple of metal detectorists have gave them plus other things they have gotten its a great experience
Really cool and interesting
Coventry Famers Market is a must!
Come check out the farmers market in Sunday to hear music and eat at great food trucks
If you shred the trails on Sunday when you come out you can get a bloody Mary off the food trucks
Hours of operations said it was opened today but it was locked up with no one around.
Had a great tour with Matt. He is very informative.
Farmers market at its best!
Visited during advertised open hours. All locked up with no one to be found. Disappointing.
Greatest place ever!!
Had a great time at farmers market!!!
