Our daughters have been swimming here for years. They started at stroke school and were quickly “challenged” to try out for the swim team. They made it and it’s been fantastic. Foe years, they’ve completed and have been pushed physically and mentally and we love that about the team, coaches and staff. Then, we get slammed with COVID. Man! Hurricane Aquatics didn’t miss a beat. They figured it out: zoom workouts, park workouts, beach swimming, alternate locations, etc. you name it, they did it. They made it happen so that our swimmers could have a sense of normalcy. They have worked endlessly and ferociously and we are so glad to be a part of this team... better yet, this family. #gocanes - a special thank you to Coach Liz. Doing a fantastic job!!!
Im not part of the team ( yet ), but do hope so in being . Ive been trying to contact them through the front desk but no one answers. Looks great and all. Just need to communicate better, unless its better to go there in person . Ive been looking forward to talking to them about the team. Just hope they answer through this as a last resort.
Awesome experience with Hurricane Aquatics. This staff really knows what they are doing. They are great and fair with the children/swimmers and make sure that each one gains as much as possible from each lesson. My child made the varsity team in his school after one summer at Hurricane Aquatics! Simply amazing. If you want your child to have a chance at the Olympics, bring them here.
My son has been coming to Hurricane Aquatics for the last 3 years and he loves it!! Swimming has been so beneficial for him and our family. My son, Alex, has ADD and struggled to focus in school. Ever since I enrolled him in stroke school, I have seen a tremendous change in him. He is performing better in school and I have also noticed a positive change in his behavior. I am grateful to the staff for being so kind, patient and accommodating.
My children have been coming to Hurricane Aquatics for over two years. I only have wonderful things to say about this place. My children have greatly improved their strokes. The staff has been nothing but accommodating and kind. I highly recommend Hurricane Aquatics for any parents that want their kids to progress in swimming. The waitlist is totally worth it!!
Extremely disappointed. We signed up several months ago and then were put on a wait list for our 7 year old daughter. We received an email after a few months asking to come in for an evaluation. I left work early and took my daughter. The evaluation lasted less then 5 minutes. They said she needed private lessons and to check with Rosemary. We went back in to the office and she said there were no openings. What a joke! They only had opening for stroke school. Why make someone come in and then put them back on a waitlist. Complete waste of time!Do not recommend at all.
Hurricane Aquatics is awesome. My son has attended their camp this year for various weeks and not only is he having the best time, but he has improved tremendously in swimming. He is 6 years old and has learned how to properly do freestyle, with side breathing, backstroke and is now learning breaststroke. I am honestly truly impressed with how he was able to improve his swimming in the few short weeks he has attended camp. Not to mention the staff is so kind and friendly, He LOVES them.
This is an amazing team, with a wonderful staff. My children have been on this team for several years and they love their team mates and coaches. As a parent I could not ask for better coaches, they foster an enviroment of respect, team unity, hardwork and fun! The college students that work for hurricane aquatics are wonderful rolemodels. The adminstation staff is outstanding and address all issues before they happen! The UM pool is a great place for kids to learn to love swimming and college. The head coach is dedicated to developing well rounded future leaders that now how to work hard and have fun. She looks beyond the pool and sees each indivdual child and that childs goals. Our whole family has made lifelong friends.
Horrible. I took my kids to the test during Summer, paid and at the first class we were able to go, after vacations, they said they were not on the list. Because the classes were only during summer, but nobody told us. I was pretty sure it was for the semester.. so disappointing
I have 2 daughters swimming at Hurricane Aquatics. The classes are ok.I’m writing this review because I have had a very bad experience with one of the instructors here. Her name is Coach Liz Kershaw. My daughter, who is 7, was doing a make up class with a new instructor today. He told us to go to the shed where they keep the fins. My daughter has never used fins before and I was trying to help her find the right size quickly, so that she would not start her class late. After 30 seconds this woman, Coach Liz Kershaw, came with very bad manners and kicked us out of the shed saying that it was her turn and that we where misplacing the fins, which by the way, wasn’t true. We where putting them back right where they were, maybe they were already not the right place but, how would we know? It was our first time there! She repeated that we needed to get out, and I said “Ok, you don’t need to be rude”, and she yelled again: “Out!”I went to ask for help to my daughter’s instructor and he said he couldn’t do anything because she is the owner/CEO/manager of Hurricane Aquatics. Very frustrating...If this place is managed by such a nasty, uncaring person, I’m going to think twice about bringing my kids here...
Amazing coaches that are happy to teach swimmers of ANY level. Great workout for anyone who wants to try swimming.
Nice.
Lockers could use a little upgrade.
