All in all it was a good course. Greens take some adjusting to because of there speed.Shot 81 but I cant say that it had anything to do with course conditions. A triple on a par 3 because I pulled it in the woods and the rest just missed putts..
The course and greens are in great shape. 4 hour round with a 11:20 tee time on Sunday. Starter does a good job. No waiting during the round on a busy day.The Bermuda roughs are getting tough. Keep em in the fairway.
One of the best courses in Charlotte. Always in great condition. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Wow is all I can say. Its in pristine condition. Challenging run but not frustrating. Our group sees a lot of public courses in Charlotte but this one is our new favorite. Greens were pretty, but fast. Its worth the extra drive if you live in South Charlotte. Theres a reason this course scores well annually in the top 10 public courses.
Played today for first time at this course (RRGC) and was very impressed with the layout and overall condition. The greens had been punched a few days ago and were sanded but rolled pretty well and true. I will definitely come back to play once the greens are fully restored. Senior rate is $35. Masks are required in the clubhouse.
Good layout, fast greens, friendly staff. Did not enjoy the controlled golf carts that slow down or shut off based on GPS location.
My group plays Rocky River quite often. Courses in fantastic shape although today they just aerated the greens about a week ago and theyre little bumpy but still under the circumstances excellent conditions, and still rolling true. They gave us a $5 discount to compensate for the greens. Jonathan &Bryan and Steve always do an excellent job. Well be back in a couple of weeks
Awesome golf course! Staff helpful and very professional. I dont live in Charlotte but highly recommend playing this course as often as u can if you visit the city. Just loved it!!
Awesome food an cold drinks awesome menu to chose from an a super friendly staff
Fantastic course! Awesome greens that will challenge even the most experienced players. Tight fairways that welcome a good shot.
The course is great, however, there were several discrepancies with the staff. A tee time was set up a week in advance and upon arrival, we were told that several other people would be joining our group without any heads up. During the round, our carts would randomly shut down and the system would advise us to go backwards for several feet before they kicked back in. We never received any apology for this considering we spent good money to play the course. The staff was very nonchalant when approached with the issues. Although the course was nice, I will not be going back.
Still a little wet from all the rain but overall good experience
Course was in great condition...greens rolled true...staff very friendly...very pricey though - $72!
Great course...but, in this day of Covid-19, I went out with 3 friends to play 18. The starter assigned a single to join us. He wanted us to share a cart...I never met this guy. I said I wanted my own cart..now mind you, Im one of the 3, not the extra. I was told if I wanted my own cart, I had to pay an additional $10!!! When I went inside to register a complaint at the proshop (and ultimately pay my $10), the guys at the pro shop said it wasnt their decision. The website suggests otherwise. It wasnt the $10, it was the principal. In times of COVID 19, this is BS!!
FABULOUS....May be my all time FAV munie EVER. I highly recommend this golf course. Check it out if u are in the area. Great location too next to Charlotte Motor Speedway. I live in Soda City and I cant wait to play here AGAIN.
Just played the course yesterday. From the greetings at the bag drop to the Pro Shop to condition of the course, all exceeded my and the foursomes expectations. Looking forward to playing again in the near future.
My review should be taken very lightly. Im new to golfing and have only been to the driving range. The driving range was really great for me i was able to purchase a large for $10 and was enough to get some great practice in. I asked one person beside me on some tips and they helped me hit an 8 iron consistently 100-150yds (my 2nd day golfing ever). I plan to visit often and continue to practice there and maybe one day try the 18- holes
Loved it! Great layout, challenging but fair, has tees for all types of golfers.
Despite consecutive days of rain, the course was in very good shape. Thats a testament to the staff, and a well designed course. It was a great day for golf.
Every time Ive played here the pro shop has an attitude. Playing today and gps not working Keith in pro shop says well its cart path only so you dont need it. Every time I play here they are very condensing are arrogant like they are Bushwood or something. Not impressed
The course is in great shape and offers a challenging but fun layout. The price is reasonable and I will definitely be back to play it again.
Very nice course. Challenging if youre spraying the ball.
Making you pay up front, convenience fees and taxes to book online. This is ridiculous for a course I play often. You lost a customer.
Very good practice area with pretty fast greens.
Good course....excellent greens
Interesting challenge of golf in good shape
I had the pleasure of playing this course last month, and it was so nice. The course was in great condition, and is woman friendly which is always nice. The price was very reasonable to play early morning. I highly recommend this course!
Great shape. Good challenge for average golfer.
Would rather hit on the grass at the range
Played today. The course and greens are in great shape. Had my first ever Ace on the par 3 5th hole! And witnesses to prove it!
Played for the first tine yesterday. Great course in good shape
Great condition, moderate green fees.
Course was in good shape, but seems just a little under par for the area. Greens were firm and super fast. All in all a very enjoyable experience.
Rocky River is a great public golf course. Have played it for years and have seen how much they are putting into the golf course to take care of it. Greens and Fairways are in great shape.
ALWAYS in GREAT shape....great test of your putting skills....greens will make you want to practice more putts !!
Fantastic golf course and friendly very helpful staff. Treated like royalty! Thanks for having us. We played a captains choice tournament and were done in 4:45minutes.. bring your good game this is a good one!
We were looking for a course on the north side of Charlotte as I was coming into town from that direction. This is a very good facility as they have ample parking, a wonderful club house and a driving range. The course plays to a variety of lengths with the different tees and has a lot of elevation changes and dog legs to test your game. We enjoyed our round and look forward to returning.
Best greens you can find at a public course in the Charlotte area. They use the same grass variety as Quail Hollow, which doesnt get beat up by the amount of play at a public course. Combine the greens with an awesome layout and friendly staff, and you have a true gem.
Very accommodating. Great job staff!!
Great course
Fist time playing this course and it was fantastic. We were checked in and helped by the head professional Brian Porro, who was super friendly and helpful. Course conditions were better than many of the private clubs in town. Greens were smooth and fast. Super fun layout with a lot of different looks. Ill definitely be back soon!
Very clean and efficient proprietorship. Nice Lounge area, knowledgeable bartender, good food, and good links. A well-managed golf club considering it is a public course.
Beautiful public course with great facilities. Im going again.
Tough course but I always enjoy playing golf here
Challenging but fun. Im a older player thats not give up the white tees yet. An from time to time flush a few birdies out.. Enjoy playing any time Im in Charlotte
Not worth the money, better courses in the area for less. They actually enforce the rider fee which is annoying (claimed it was to cover the gas for an extra cart - they are electric) and it wasn’t a case where I was trying to play for free since I’m in a cast. Although the beer cart girl was great, saw her 3 or 4 times during the round!
For someone to refer to Rocky River as the public crown jewel of the greater Charlotte area would be an understatement...the outside staff are always at the ready to carry your bag & direct you to the clubhouse & upon entering the aforementioned, you are greeted by aromatic tones of rich mahogany, leather bound books & success. I was so overwhelmed by this first class establishment I temporarily blacked out & when I regained consciousness, I was wearing an all new ensemble consisting of Titleist hat, Adidas polo (RRGC logo adorned on the sleeve), Adidas shorts & Tour 360 shoes & a new box of Pro-V1xs in hand. I then made my way to the first tee (tips obviously) & proceeded to smash my drive 310 yds with a 7 yd draw into the fairway, tossed an easy gap wedge to about 9 ft & then 3 putted for bogey...went onto shoot 93, mainly due to being awestruck on each hole due to the sheer magnificence of turf management, which hindered by ability to focus. I shall return!
Called at 6:00 to see if the range was open at was told open until 745 got there at 630 and it was closed. 2nd time
Nice place to practice and play on a Sunday afternoon. The pro shop and restaurant staff are great.MJ
Great course. A little pricey for my taste, but not over priced by any means. Well maintained. Friendly staff. The golf carts were a little annoying... They limit your speed and ability to drive forward if you stray from the cart path with little room for error. Driving range was also closed after I had arrived early because of its location next to a race track. Call ahead!
Good course
Very good course.
Good place to get some practice in nice friendly atmosphere
The course is always in great shape, and golfnow runs some great weekday specials. Id give this place 5 stars, but I ordered a tuna salad sandwich on the turn, and they must put mustard in the mix or something. Tuna salad shouldnt be yellow, or rancid. Do things right and just use mayo...
Best municipal course in the Charlotte area!
Great golf course. They had a lot of rain recently, cart path only hot but great track for the money will play it again when Im in the area
Great staff. Course is in great shape. Greens best in Charlotte.
This place is always in great shape.. Probably one of the best public courses in Charlotte.
What a great course. The architect wove it through a swampy/forested river area. There are beautiful holes and wooden bridges and causeways. Plenty of challenge—but not unfair. Really a gem.
Course is in great shape. One of the most fun 18 holes in Charlotte.
Love their onboard yardage to the pin. Beautiful course!
Very nice course.
Played here twice in the past week. Greens were in good condition, rolled true but not extremely fast. A few tee boxes were chewed up pretty good, mainly the par 3s.
Had a pleasant time with friends. Very friendly staffs. I highly recommend
Fun course, can be challenging if you are in the high teens handicap, greens rolled very smooth and true.
Enjoyed playing this course. Greens were in good shape. Would play again if ever back in the area.
Inspire of all the rain the course is in great shape.
Tie for best public greens in Charlotte along with Charles sifford golf course.
Good course but certainly not worth the $49 rate when there are multiple courses that are just as good, if not better (at cheaper costs). Always under repair. I made a tee time under the assumption that aeration alert meant the course was just aerated; however, I was forced to play the back 9 twice because the front 9 was closed. This experience reminded me why I stopped playing here about 4 years ago. Take your business to more affordable and quality courses in the area. Not coming back.
Nice track but a like pricey. Better in the summer when the vegetation has grown out.
Rocky River is most defintely NOT your fathers munincipal golf course. It has a terrific layout of varying holes. No two are alike. They all have their own personalities and challenges. Some are easy. Many are chalenging, but none are unfairly hard. The greens are always in excellent shape and run true medium-fast speed. The great greens and the course overall are in the top 5 public courses in the Charlotte area. Add in the chance to see hawks, nesting egrets, deer, and even a wild turkey occasionally, and its a course worth the trip to Concord.
Pretty nice facilities, course was fairly clean but challenging. Prefer more cost effective courses that are catered to novice golfers. Plenty of hazard on every hole.
Drove by looks great well maintained
I played there 4/26 for the first time and thought the course was in great shape for early season. Much greener (fairways and rough) and friendlier staff than Rock Barn (Jones course) which I played on 4/29. Good test of golf with several memorable holes. Bit of advice, if your HC is higher than 10, play the whites and maintain pace-of-play. Priced right on GolfNow.
The course is in great shape but is not worth a price tag of 64$ when there are so many better with in 1 hour away
Super fantastic
One of the best golf courses in our area. Great service and a friendly attitude.
Played with Clickit Golf group on 6/22/16 and the course was in wonderful shape. The fairways were manicured and the greens were in perfect shape and running about 11-12 on the Stimpmeter. Its a tough layout but it was enjoyable to play. The staff was pleasant and had our carts ready and made sure we had everything we needed to have a good day.
Great Club -- Well run and everyone that works there has been wonderful.Highly Recommend for playing golf and parties/events !!!Wilson Blanchard
Very good golf course, little pricey
Great shape for a public track. One of the best conditioned public courses in Charlotte. Great Bermuda greens.
Good layout, easy to get to from hwy. Old range balls and clubhouse, but course is interesting.
Played today with my wife and usual golfing buddies. Had a flat tire on 16 and we called the clubhouse to get a cart. I was told they would try to get one out. After 15 minutes I called again and the person told me they would send someone out. I told him we had called 15 minutes earlier they told me the same thing. The gentleman on the phone told me If you are tired of waiting, you can walk. That smart assed comment might be expected from a cart boy or clerk but come to find out the person I spoke with was Ryan, the golf director. I guess customer service is not a requirement for PGA certification. Certainly not what we expected. No matter how nice the course might be, it only takes one person to put a damper on the roundThanks Ryan.
Good layout with some challenging holes, some water in play. Great greens! and a LOT of poison ivy!
A little price-y for outsides. Golf clubs come with good ball tracking system.
Great course and great staff
Nice layout. Well maintained. Decent clubhouse.
Unbelievable hidden gem! Love the layout of the course.
Great course
Great staff, great food, and the golf course is in magnificent condition.
