I had the pleasure of having my niece Sweet Sixteen Birthday Party August 7th, 2020 at the Columbus Museum located at 1251 Wynnton Rd Columbus, Ga. What a beautiful building. The staff inside is even more beautiful, the way the staff accommodated and attended to my needs was just awesome! I highly recommend having any special event in the Galleria Room, and ask for Kelly. Kelly guided me through every detail and gave the best customer service. The price to rent the Galleria is worth every penny, and if you want to know the event planner, her name is Jamie Sims. Jamie took the party out of orbit with her talent. She was kind, professional and always had great tips and ideas. Jamie has a great support team by her side. They really work well together and was professional and kind as well. Everyone was so knowledable. Man! What a great experience I had.

Dont forget to visit this cultural icon of Columbus! I learned so much about portrait history, furniture, and culture of Columbus by coming here. Its not just history, they have art by featured African American artists that I had never heard of, and can now appreciate thanks to my exposure here. I wasnt able to see the uppermost level, but it looked interactive and had beautiful symbolism. Too bad my kid lost his temper and I had to leave early!

They also have a part just for children, where they can paint, they have color books, they can play with puppets and wear costumes. I had a Great time with my nieces. Outside theres like a botanic garden where you can take a walk and maybe enjoy a picnic. The front desk is so nice and helpful and they have special galleries every certain time... Great place to visit. Always new exhibits to see. Large play area for the kids with fun and educational things for them to do. My daughter loved this place when she lived in the Columbus area. Many fun memories there. Its also free. I recommend leaving a donation to ensure this place stays up and going for future generations to enjoy. Good little day trip for the family. Super clean everytime I have visited this location.

Beautiful gallery! From the outside I expected it to be a small collection of boring work but I was wrong! They had quite a bit of work to offer! There was also a childrens room for them to interact and play, which I thought was a genius idea. If you enjoy museums and visiting Columbus, this is a place to see!

We have a recommendation for a very safe, very enjoyable day trip (from Auburn). Yesterday we spent the afternoon at the excellent Columbus Museum. They have a fine regional collection which includes renowned artists like William Christenberry, Amy Sherald, William Spratling, Bo Bartlett, and Alma Thomas. The museum is quite powerful in its historical and artistic presentation of the African American experience in our region. Besides great art, the museum has historical components like window bars from the slave auction house. They also have an intriguing temporary exhibit celebrating Womens Suffrage in the region. As for safety, we were virtually alone in the spacious and open facility. Everyone was masked, bathrooms were perfect, and sanitizer was widely available. Oh, and Olmstead designed the gardens. 45 minutes from Auburn.

The Museum has many new and old art inside. Each piece tells a story of their own, its calming to walk around inside the Columbus Museum. Recently I saw a painting that left me confused because it was a yellow canvas with a black line that went to the edge of the canvas but didnt form a square it left me curious as to what the artist was trying to show and what they were feeling. It was beautiful to walk through the art there.

Im not qualified enough to rate a museum, but I can tell you that the historical portion is interesting if you care about Columbus. There are some pieces that never leave though. The special exhibits upstairs are always fun though. Ive been to bigger and better, but its all about the content and size of the museum honestly.

I made a blown glass pumpkin! Kelly Robertson was the glass artist teaching the class and he was wonderful. when picking colors I ask for a certain color for the stem that he had not brought, and he ended up mixing some other things and making a custom blend to try and get the color for my pumpkin stem similar to the one I wanted. He showed us how we were going to do everything and helped us, so that there was no way that we would end up with a wonky looking pumpkin. We had brought a 10 year old with our group and he was wonderful talking to her at her level and not overloading her with information and making sure that her pumpkin came out just as good as the adults Pumpkins did. Case friendly and outgoing and loves to talk to people. The next day when I went to go pick up my pumpkins, even though he was helping prep for a class he recognized me, an impressive feat since I had gone the day before wearing old jeans and t-shirt my hair pulled back in ponytail and the day that I picked up my pumpkins waa Sunday so my hair was down, makeup on, and in a dress and heels. and I know that he really knew who I was because he called me by the nickname that he had given me, Birmingham. I cannot wait for Christmas when we do Snowman and or ornaments!

An exquisite find in Columbus GA. We entered the family exhibition of the surrounding area and who they were. The audio stories were awesome. The stories are heartfelt and personal, just wonderful. The history from 10000 years ago was short and could be updated with more details. I visited the LSU Natural history museum which added iPads with background information to the exhibition. All and all a great spot, I will return when back to the area.

Very community minded organization, probably THE BEST ART MUSEUM FOR ITS SIZE in a city the size of Columbus! Having called quite a few places “home” as an Army family, we’ve seen a few!!! Now settled and having raised 4 children to young adults here, Columbus is HOME INDEED!!! I couldn’t begin to tell you how many programs and opportunities we have enjoyed via the museum over the years!!! The children’s corner museum with so much to offer & explore, classes, summer camps, movies in spring winter & school breaks, art shows from kindergarten through college!!! LOVE THIS PLACE AND THE PEOPLE!!! If I was independently wealthy I would be a donor, but since I can’t do that just yet I just have to say, listen to this Yankee—Y’ALL COME!!! YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!

There are many things under one roof. The permanent history collection is very well done leading the visitor through the history of the area. They also bring in temporary exhibits. These are always changing and lead to a different experience each time you visit. I almost feel like this is a well kept secret! This museum has great art on display, and fun kids area, and more. The museum boast of the history of the local area but does little to give a complete picture of the past. Indigenous populations and slave life are grossly just brushed over. The childrens section does offer activities that entertain children up to the age of 10. However the activities do not seem to incorporate any of the themes of the museum.
