Art Gallery showing a great variety or art. Large outdoor display.
Absolutely adore this place and their events. They give a ton to the community and I thoroughly appreciate the owner.
Saw an amazing show here. Seats were comfortable and the entertainment was FIRE! Big Girl Burlesque had me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed my time there and will be back in the future.
This place packs a lot of class and style in a small package. The people involved with the exhibitions and live music are passionate about creative works and contributing to the community. An intimate setting, combined with friendly faces- this inclusive space is meant to be a interactive experience with others in the pursuit of our mutual love for beauty and inspiration. A gem of Franklinton.
The Vanderelli Room is a great art space, period! The VR support & exhibit artwork created by upcoming and coming & established visual artists, and experimental & traditional performing artists, and its a great place to just hang out & commune with local artists and supporters of the Vanderelli Room. The founder, director & visual artist of the Vanderelli Room, Alicia Jean Vanderelli aka A.J. has created an experimental/contemporary art space in the Central Ohio area on the level of incredible art centers like SPACES in Cleveland, OH, the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, PA, and Artists Space in NYC. The Vanderelli Room is a must visit for anyone in or visiting Columbus, OH.
Open airy gallery. With exceptional artists!
Filament at The Vanderelli RoomAn intimate stage room in an art gallery. This space is not very assuming from the outside, but you get the feel youre in for something good; the murals setting the tone.Going inside it has a bottlenecked club feel. This allows hosts to direct traffic for your show. For this particular comedy show the attendees were being filed left into the Filament, a room so small that at first I didnt notice its fully staged and wired for performances. On the wall you can see individual letters, FILAMENT. I peaked through the sliding door and saw the crowd packed in. Sofas were lining the back walls, chairs went all the way to the stage. At least a couple of people showed up for all of the performers, and many had more than just a few. There was almost no room left.Perfect for comedy. You want to be as up close and personal without upsetting the fire marshall. When you fill the room you can actually hear the laughter bouncing around room. The performer stands tall, almost birds eye view over the audience; veritably on top of the crowd.I went to the right with the other performers to a small hallway filling out the center of the building. Twin bathrooms lined the wall with the coat rack on one side. Comedians were sitting on the couch beside the storage door on the other side. At the end of the hallway there is a pair of squeaky swinging doors we could walk through to the art gallery. The art gallery has a kitchen, multiple art installations, hanging wall art, and a bigger stage in the back. The talent seen in the art showcased here is worth a trip alone. The stage and open floor space could be used for a larger comedy showcase or possibly a small musical concert. More comedians were anxiously kicking around ideas or going over their notes. I had similar things going through my mind. The hosts rounded us up, let us know a couple of things, and set the lineup. We got excited. I mean, come on, we were about to put on a comedy show! The show went over very smoothly and with so little issue. I was one of the first to perform for the night and quite enjoyed the Filaments stage. Being so close it felt personal. That bond with the audience allows you to connect more. Comedy can benefit a lot from this, and I had a lot of fun performing on the stage.By the time it ended I didnt even realize it was over. Most of the people I spoke to after the show seemed to really like the show, the performers, and the space. I would highly recommend this space for future showcases.
This is a must go to place for anyone who is into the Arts. There are classes here for painters, and those interested in drawing.
Nice room for a small show.
A.J. is such a delightful and kind human being. And the space is amazing! We are renting it for our wedding and A.J. has been nothing but supportive and accommodating!
A small gallery and general art use space in historic Franklinton. Part of a bunch of artists venues j in the area. I went to the Sunday figure drawing session where I was welcomed with open arms despite only turning up for the one time. Friendly and interesting. Worth a look if youre into somewhat counter culture art.
AJ Vanderelli has created an amazing space for art and community to come together!
Nice venue, but parking is difficult
I have attended two private events during the past year at The Vanderelli Room.● Café Ashtray: ACME Art Company Resurrected Exhibition [this event had featured past and present work of ACME member artists], Friday, October 6, 2017.● Marsha P. Johnson Day [in honor of one of the earliest activists in what is now called the LGBT movement] [this event had been held in conjunction with the Columbus Community Pride 2018: Back to Our Roots celebration], Monday, June 11, 2018Both of these events had included many artworks on the walls of several different rooms [including in the gender-neutral bathrooms, one of which, by the way, has a nicely-decorated hand-painted toilet seat].And be sure not to miss the large artworks that have been painted on the outside walls of the building [particularly on the north wall].
Always something super interesting and provocative happening here every week. From group shows, to musical performance. Check it out.Its a block from the 400 Rich arts building in the Franklinton.
