An 18th C dreamland. This tour is well worth the small $5 admission fee. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable on every object and architectural detail in the home and was a pleasure to speak with. The structure is beautifully preserved and the collection and styling of 18th c objects throughout made this home come to life in a way rarely seen. If you are anywhere near Columbia and are at all interested in architecture, antiquities, decorative arts or history in general, do yourself a favor and stop in.
Liz was our tour guide today and the title doesnt befit her as she is so much more. Liz showed how passionate she is of the history of Susanna Wright and the museum and its exquisite artifacts. Thank you for having such a delightful, intelligent individual who made our morning a most memorable one to remember.Sincerely,Jeanette DaltonFrances B. Koharcheck
Remarkable home of a remarkable woman, Susanna Wright. The furniture and artifacts are beautiful, period accurate (1700-1750) and authentic. What a gem! The architectural restoration is also right on.
Great tour guides give you many insights into the early settlement of Columbia. Furnished with items from the correct time period. Tour is about an hour.
Excellent tour. The docent was especially knowledgeable. The house has been restored to the pre-revolutionary war era of its orginal Quaker beginnings. Susanna Wright had links to Ben Franklin and other early Pennsylvanians.
Fascinating story of brave settlers. Ferry house is beautifully restored and accurate to the 1700 period. Excellent tour guide.
What a wonderful tour we had last week, our Guide Lizzy Dillon was exceptional, she spoke with great passion and knowledge, she also had great patience and answered any questions we had. The House and Grounds are restored to a very high standard giving a great insight to life in Columbia in the 18th Centuary, I would strongly recommend a visit.
This is an exemplary house museum -- really world class. Every object is of interest. The beauty and simplicity of the Quaker architecture is pleasing to the eye. The gardens are lush. Our guide was thorough, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Everyone who loves history should see this out of the way gem of American history. (I say out of the way but I do not mean hard to get to!)
Great tour guide; fascinating story of an independent single woman who was apparently treated as an equal by Ben Franklin and other notables. Beautifully restored house and grounds. Wel worth $5!
Excellent tour. Tour guide very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Very good preservation of a seventeenth century home.
Very historical site. Nice learning experience
Great building with a lot of history...thank god some people wanted to save it.
Very interesting there was a young girl with a lot of knowledge on the house
