Unexpected tunnel on a really well-maintained dirt road heading up to trailheads, bridges and falls! Adventurous and fun to drive!

Tunnel 1 and Tunnel 2 are part of an old railway called Short Line that went from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek. You can drive from the parking lot Just above Helen Hunt Falls or from 26th Street. It is a gravel. road with no guard rails and at times turns into one lane road. The tunnels are also single lane. The views are amazing of Colorado Springs. The tunnels are fun. I read online where the tunnels are haunted but I parked my car and walked through them. I went early and not many cars but few bike riders. I enjoyed!

A very unique and beautiful experience. A very narrow but awe inspiring drive from the top of the mountain down to Colorado Springs. Have good ground clearance and AWD or 4x4, particularly in winter. Fun if you’re prepared. Also there are great hiking route/trailheads off this road.

This tunnel is pretty great if you dont mind the small dirt roads you have to take to make it up or down. Its well worth the drive to see the amazing views. Take a lunch and take a good hike on a pull off as well.

Was so awesome!!! The views are beautiful. The air smells fresh, the weather was great the day we went. Heard it was a bit scarier when theres snow out, I can only imagine! The drive was scary at times, but only because I get nervous looking down. The tunnels are great the second one is bigger, and longer then the first. There are Awesome places to get out and take pictures. Remember to drive slow there are places where it seems theres only room for one car to drive by. It has great views of the city. Take your time, be safe and enjoy this beautiful drive.

At night is the best time to go. The moonlight and car headlights play serious tricks on your eyes. Whether you believe its haunted or not, it makes for a killer way yo scare the pants off visiting out of towners.

If you visit Colorado Springs it is worth your time to go up Old Gold Camp Road and well worth the drive. The roads are narrow so use caution and its also heavily used by bicyclist in training. There are lost of hairpin curves straightways with no gaurds the unspoken curteousy of pulling over and letting oncoming traffic pass is a given. Great views overlooking the springs and various mountain ranges if your here visiting its a once and a lifetime oppurtunity and a memory youll dread or treasure depending on your fear of heights. Be safe have fun and if you pack it in pack it out dont destroy this beauty with your garbage and pollution its a crime and you will be prosecuted if not in this life than the next. Thanks be safe
