Kids and I ride our bikes here. The climb isnt too terrible for most Colorado kids. Youger ones may walk their bike in spots. Lake and views are scenic. The ride down is fun and not too steep. Kids love it!

This was my least favorite hike. We ran into a multitude of unleashed dogs. Im ok with it unless your animal is aggressive. Unfortunately, my dog was attacked by another dog off his leash. It was frightening. The owner was too far away to manage his dog. If you want to unleash your animals go the dog parks! I want be back in this location.

Easy trail up to the reservoir. One of my foster dogs doesnt do well with other dogs when hes on leash and we luckily didnt run into anyone with their dogs off leash on the trail up to the spot where the dogs can swim. I would recommend against brining kids if they will want to swim as its a no humans in the water area

Lots of trails lots of open space and a couple of reservoirs on the top of the hill. I need dog can swim in the big reservoir . It doesnt say that but the sign says no human swimming. Wildlife all over the place and you can walk up the road or a couple paths. Go to 21st ter, Cheyenne Road or boulevard. Turn on continue straight on Cheyenne Road did your 40 years you think I would know this throwing two roads coming into the canyon the main road and the other Road andamiro de turn on is the road closest to the North. Four people are new here face the mountains North is right or you can parking at the end of the road that borders Cheyenne mountain high to the South.when you go in the canyon Road about a quarter-mile to the right turn on Ridgeway and will be parking right there.

Hiking, mountain biking and scenery that soothes the soul. You definitely want to bring your climbing legs for the ride, it goes up for a long while and theres no question that you will feel well accomplished when you get to the top. Nothing like riding your legs off to get through the amazing scenery that you will be constantly amazed by. The trails are very well maintained and while not too technical, will provide you with some great riding.Looking forward to a return trip to ride back up through the groomed trails that offer some fantastic climbing and beautiful reservoir and mountain views.

This review is mainly for mountain bikers. If you are new to riding/ want a very easy ride up this place is great. You can take an easy service road all the way to the bottom of chutes and then pick a couple trails to come down that could range from really easy to challenging. You could even keep riding up the chutes, just stay to the left and inside of the turns, people will be racing down past you most likely though. There is plenty of fun to be had here on a mtb.

Good park with great views and wide trails. You can see the Broadmoor from the trail. There is very limited parking, maybe 15-20 cars can fit into this lot so recommend getting there early or go on a weekday. The trail map is horrendous so we just took the trail on the farthest left and kept following it and it led to the reservoir at the top. Took us an hour to get to the top and back down. There were lots of dogs swimming in the reservoir and it was fun watching them all. Definitely don’t forget the sunscreen!

Beautiful place BUT the only reason why Im not giving them 5 stars is because one of the park rules is that your dog MUST. BE. LEASHED. AND EVERYONE that comes with their dogs here seems to NEVER have their dogs leashed up!! This really gets on my nerves because my dog is very loving with my kids and people she knows but isnt friendly with strangers so if a dog comes up to her, she wont be nice! SO PEOPLE..... PLEASE. LEASH. UP. YOUR. DOGS!!! ITS PARK RULES AND JUST... COMMON SENSE.

I LOVE Stratton and Captain Jacks! The only complaint is that the people can be very obstinate about leash laws. DOGS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ON A LEASH. Ive seen park rangers ticket people for this before, and, as a mountain biker, it is very frustrating to have people completely disregard everyone else and allow their dogs to run loose and get in the way. Dangerous for the dog and dangerous for the rider. People are people, though, and there will always be those who insist that they are above the law. Also, scoops your dog poops!! Its not your backyard! That all said, this is a wonderful area for locals or tourists and is a fantastic place to ride.If you are not a cyclist, I would recommend staying off of the Chutes. There are alternate routes up to Gold Camp that are readily available.

This is a great space to take the dog! The poop situation isn’t as bad as others have stated, which is a good thing. Mostly friendly people walking their dogs here. :) What I have noticed though is that mountain bikers seem to have taken over on the trails lately and seem to think they have the ultimate authority on the trails. Such is not the case as they must yield to pedestrians and dogs. Blazing down the trails and/or giving rude looks or attitude is a little unwarranted. I’m sure as a biker it’s a bummer to slow down around pedestrians but maybe you should find some trails that are more for your sport. :)
