San Benito Mountain Research Natural Area

Some of the most breathtaking views Ive seen in California.

Awesome place to visit. Cold as Tahoe at night. Ten miles from nowhere and 3 miles from Timbuktu.Lots of dirtbikes riding everywhere so be careful driving around the blind curves.

This mountainous region contains many rare minerals, in including benitoite. the soil is poor with little nutrients and many heavy metals, so little vegetation grows here. It also contains asbestos, a poisonous natural substance, so it is closed.
