First, I walk in and the big older lady with glasses and gray hair at the front was face down sleeping against the computer monitor. Place is super run down and not at all clean. I got a slushie and it was gross, wayyyyyyy too much syrup. My theatre smelled like a Dutch oven. They definitely win for worst sound system ever. I cant wait to never go back!
They have good service but unfortunately the place is poorly kept. Broken seats, wall paper coming off the walls, fabric falling from the ceiling right in front of the screen, screen crocked, poor lighting (We actually thought they didnt want to turn on the light so people wouldnt see the mess the auditorium was). I was surprised to find a very clean bathroom. It was our first and last time, sorry for the employees but I would not come back.
This place is nice, never crowded. It has been updated, comfy seats, the staff is very friendly at Allwood Only thing is little to no heat besides that everything is always clean, garbage is always emptied out. The staff is always cleaning there. A couple of managers at Clifton Allwood are extremely nice & professional.
This is the old neighborhood theater totally renovated. New comfy seats, clean, and friendly staff. The many smaller theaters would be good to bring a group of people to see a special movie. Loved it
I’ve been to this theatre a few times in the past. Local theaters are hard to come by in this area. I have to admit the atmosphere is pleasant. I went to see Avengers Infinity War and I had a very pleasant experience. If you’re not a person who likes crowded places this one is for you. This place is a hidden gem. But it does have some flaws as with most old local movie houses there’s a little bit of maintenance that the place needs but all in all it was a pleasant experience.
I remember going to this cinema when I was a child and it was ugly, dirty, and the staff was awful. Now, they have upgraded their seats to comfortable sofas! I went two weeks ago on a Tuesday matinee and they gave us free popcorn! The staff is also super friendly and the facility is clean. Great 360!
The staff was friendly so Ill start with something nice. Unfortunately there was little to no heat in the move theater and the sound quality was among the worst Ive ever experienced. At times it sounded like a raccoon was stuck in the speakers and biting through wiring.
When I entered, the place looked clean, organized, and professional. The staff were very nice. They gave my dad an entire bag full of popcorn, and for no charge!I ordered the tickets online on their own website! The prices were fairly good.I didnt even care if some parts of the theater were broken, ripped, etc. The movie was the only thing that was important for me to watch.I will always come to this theater to watch.Thank you.By the way, I watched Avengers: Endgame! It was actually the best and greatest movie of my life! This was the main conclusion of the MCU Movies. I will not spoil anything. Please watch it, enjoy it, and leave a like on the movie on Google. :)
Cool theater. Nice and small. Like right or off the 60s.
This is my favorite theater. Its a small local place (or at least feels like it) and its never too busy. Matinees are still $5 and the seat are all the comfy recliners. If youre a big person (tall, overweight, broad) like me then its a dream to be able to sit in a seat without feeling like youre laying on the person next to you.I will say, its an old building so its not stadium seating. Theres a gentle slip which is always enough for me (again...tall) to see but might be tough if you get a tall person in front of you. That said, Ive never seen a room full so you can probably just move seats if needed. Theres IMAX and Ive never noticed a 3D option so know that going in. If you want a big fancy movie theater with a meal this isnt it. Its an old, run down local place with nice seats and a cheap ticket price.Again...I love this place.
Small and quaint really affordable movie tickets (5$ ) midday
Amazing experience for the money! Staff is very friendly, theater as well as bathrooms are clean. This place is a real find!
After 30 minutes of driving, we show up when it’s says it’s about to start, and the lady says, “Are you kidding me? The movie theater is empty. You would be here to 1 AM”If you are going to be mad at us for showing up to movie and no one is there, then why would you tell us online that it is playing?
Great customer service. Highly recommend this place. Would have given five stars had three seats recline. Still love it here.
Definitely a decent experience for a reasonable price. Its definitely a local theater with local pricing which is always good for going out on a budget. The staff is nice, and the movie selection is varied. The only complaint I have is the floor on Theater 6 from my movie last night, Godzilla: King of Monsters. I felt the floor was sticky from moving my legs. After the theater, my friends and I checked our shoes and saw some sticky material on the sole of our shoes, like stickers or paper with bubble gum on it. Other that that, a good experience overall.
Cute small local theatre. A lot cheaper than modern theatres but still has good surround and clear picture.
Its a cute little movie theater. Not too expensive! Very clean with friendly staff.
As soon as I walk in the entrance it looks decent. But I spot a worker serving the popcorn, Believe it or not, digging her nose.
This theater has been here for.... Ever. I would not recommend looking for the highest quality movie experience when you go here, but then again youre not paying the highest quality dollars when you go here. For instance weve been here on days where the air conditioning is not working in certain theaters. But we rarely have to worry about crowds when we go here! They have a fantastic deal which is $5 before 5 p.m. Mon-Thurs and we usually take advantage of that on a regular basis. You will see some reviews talking about the inside quality of this theater, However I dont think its as bad as most people make it out to be and it varies from theater to theater some do have broken seats and they no longer seem put the names of the movies up on the Marquee outside. However there is a booth outside that has a TV screen that tells you the times and names of movies playing. Also in the world today with modern technology such as cell phones, in the Google maps app you can see the listing of movies playing right now from this page.As for us we will continue to go to the theater on a regular basis and support our local theater as I recommend others do.
Is nice with excellent price specially from Monday to Thursday
This is the only theater we go to. Cozy for us.
This is a nice movie theater located in Clifton they have specials on Wednesday you can watch any movie for $5 you cant beat that price plus you get free popcorn....even though its salty it will make you thirsty enough to buy your drink for more than what you paid for the movie ...overall it was a nice experience my kids watched the lion movie and we are going back to watch toystory
Comfortable and homey feeling. Needs improvement but is looking much better than before.
Nice place to watch a film if you want to avoid the heavy crowd. Monday thru Thursday (SUMMER SPECIAL) all films before 5pm are $5 after that only $10 (without tax). Cannot beat that deal
When I visited this theater the lady out front seemed so grumpy, the place smelled bad, once finally walked into the room where the movie was playing the smell was worse, chairs very uncomfortable. I couldnt take my heavy winter jacket off beacuse it was so cold.
Lovely, intimate theater in a residential area.Ample street parking. Cordial staff.
The place needs a makeover, but it was a quite nice expierience
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! OLD MAN AT FRONT DESK WAS VERY RUDE WHEN HE WAS DEMANDING FOR ME TO PURCHASE TICKETS WHEN I KEPT TELLING HIM THAT I BOUGHT IT ONLINE. I EVEN SHOWED HIM MULTIPLE TIMES THE TICKETS ON MY PHONE. THEN WHILE WATCHING THE MOVIE THE SEATS WERE AWFUL
Small town theater. Prices are cheap. Theatre kind of old and dingy. Only saw one movie there so idk how the other rooms are. Picture quality was good in the small show room but seating was too close. Its worth trying it out once for the price.
I love this place. The staff is very friendly and the popcorn is great. I also love the comfy seats and how private the theaters are!
It less expensive than other theaters in the area because they dont do 3D or iMax... But its also not run as well. This is a small local theater with teens doing all the work so mistakes happen(like turning on the lights before a movie has ended). All in all not a terrible place but Clifton Commons is around the corner.
Wonderful and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable seats. Great experience. 5 stars
Quaint little theater with fair prices. It looks old and a little dingy but thats part of the charm. The recliners might not recline but that bathrooms are immaculate. Seriously. Best theater restrooms Ive ever seen. Also, $5 tickets on Tuesdays? Please and thank you!!!
The $5 after 5pm is an amazing deal
They cancelled a movie showing and made me redo plans. It happens. But honestly this place is cheaper than AMC. Go here for Price AMC for quality imo.
Great local theater! Reasonably priced!
Great theater very clean and comfortable. Prices for tickets are great they make up for it on the food but considering what others places charge for the same movies this place can’t be beat I totally recommend this place
The theaters are updated with new seats. Concessions are good, bathrooms clean.
I wish it was a better place. The theater is desolated, and falling apart. you cant find seats because they are broken or too dirty. and one you leave you should wash your clothes. Yet, brings nostalgia because the place has potential. It wouldve been a great place to bring your kids for a movie. The tickets are cheap and it is in a good area. but it needs a lot of maintenance.
There is no heating in the theater we were just three men in whole theather. The screen is small the whole exoerience is not that good
Good movie theater nice and comfy Chairs
Run down movie theater with great prices. $5 admission on Tuesday’s. If you can deal with a hot run down movie theater you can’t beat it for the price
Great prices and popcorn
Nice comfortable seats. For the price you cannot go wrong.
The Allwood theater is great and the prices are very reasonable. Its one of the last old movie theaters in the area. The allwood serves the people will in the area its very family-oriented.
Never knew it was there until I wanted to see a movie that they were showing. They offer free popcorn on Wednesdays.
Worst. Theatre. Ever. They play TV commercials for over 20 minutes beginning at show time. Only then do they show a couple movie promos. Everything from overhead lights left on during a movie,to broken seats, to the AC not working, are routine. But it is the cheapest theatre in the area. Still.... Ugh!!!!
The unfriendly staff, the too quiet sound, the dirty screen and the popcorn were unfortunately the trigger for the not recommendable cinema experience.
Bought tickets online as part of their $5 ticket Tuesday. Seats were comfy and plush and the floor clean. Nachos and large soda were $16 and that always seems steep, but that is no different from a chain movie theater. Will definitely be returning. If you buy tickets on Fandango, there is a $3 convenience fee. The movie we saw was not sold out so my wife and I might get our tickets in person next time.
I am giving this theater 4 stars because movies here are $5 most days & times to see, which is really a great price to see new movies. I take the kids because it is a nice walk from the Allwood library. That having been said, the facility itself is in dire need of a remodel. Many of the theaters have broken chairs.
This was my worst cinema experience ever. The staff is unfriendly and the volume was very low. Besides, it rained into the cinema which was very loud and made the whole floor wet. The screen was therefore very dirty because of the dripping. Not to mention the enormous prices.
Ok theater. Clean but the prices have recently increased. Screens are not like AMC but fine for a OK movie. Dont go for high end movies.
Upon entering the front door, I felt like taking a bath in Purell. It wasnt dirty, but it looked and felt like the theater had been there long enough for my grandmother to have seen her first movie as a child there. They promote having luxury reclining seats, but the reclining feature in every seat in the theater I was in didnt work and half the seats had torn cushions or broken back rests.I will never visit this theater again.
Went here awhile back w| my boyfriend. We went to see Halloween & I remember cracking up at them using the number 7 backwards to spell HALLOWEEN because they didnt have Ls. Upon entering the theater, chairs were thrown in the corner. Overall I would visit again. It was lowkey & very quiet.
Awesome place to watch movies! Staff is super friendly, prices are good, and the show quality is great. The ONLY dowside is that there are no reserved seating. Make sure to be there early to get yourself a good seat.If youre tired of big chain theaters, make this your new place to go!
Ill be honest. The allwood theater is not beautiful and its not exactly glamorous, but its a comforting classic clifton vibe. No matter how run down it is sometimes, theres something that just feels like home here. Cheap movies, empty theaters, and comfortable chairs.
Not friendly, over 20 minutes of ads that repeated
This staff is very friendly. The prices are great. But on cleanliness its all different. Last time I went to watch It I was with my best friend. And we literally saw a mouse. We were very frightened. We literally jumped onto our seats. And the movie had not even started and we had to watch the rest of are movie with a roaming mouse our theater. When we called for the worker she took it as joke and said Well if you see it again do not call for me I am highly scared of mice.
Not your latest mega multiplex, but you cant beat the price on the matinee.... only $5 Monday thru Thursday...Friendly staff.
This place is great for a matinee viewing. Cant beat $5 before 5p. The snack prices are also reasonable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Not a big league theater, but nice and we should support our local businesses.
Cute and clean place. Nice chairs, and good prices
Cheap tickets for sure! But you do kinda get what you paid for. The wall/screen our movie was projected on had some streaks and random pock marks that were visible throughout the movie, but still fine.
Its good but it smells and looks dirty.... Movie starts at 10:45 am but it doesnt play until like 11am...
Nice community & reasonable price
Theater number one looks great! My wife and I prefer the Alwood theater to AMC anytime! The price is right and they dont rip you off with popcorn and soda pricing.
This theater is a treasure.the staff is nice. The price is cheap. sometimes you have to turn off the lights by yourself but its charming and comfortable.
Great place to go with little ones..You dont have the big crowds like the other ones nearby..
Worst theater EVER...in show room 6...more than half the chairs are broken..when I asked the staff about it they inform me they keep them unplugged. Its dirty, no previews played..one employee sat in concession area and spoke poorly of her coworker in front of everyone....other customers complaining about no air conditioning in the other rooms...they were literally sweating. I will NEVER COME BACK. SHAMEFUL AND DISGUSTING.
Very clean inexpensive place. Pleasant workers.
If i could give this place 0 stars i would i overheard employees mentioning that they were waiting for people to get out of the theater so they could have some fun later on today. smh very rude and unprofressional . extermely disgusting trust me i will never go back
Good prices but not much parking and all the recliner seats are broken.
Absolutely ridiculous and choose as a last resort theater. Never ever returning again. My wife complained to the staff (their response was it is the smell of popcorn, Who the Hell Are You Trying to Fool ???) there about how the seats were worn out, smelled worse than a skunk, and the floors were sooo sticky that I need to change my sneakers by the seats in theatre #5. We saw Detective Pikachu (the print of the film was good and clear which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1) and I had to step outside the place to get fresh oxygen and inhale normally. It is was serious life hazard and full of building violations. I wonder when this place had a health inspection because it must have failed for sure, no doubt about it. This place should not be allowed to do business at all. Never again returning, this is my honest to god opinion.
Very nice staff, and you cant find better priced tickets.
Great deal on tickets and service is fast, best theater in town
Honestly I see all these comments about having new seats but all of them are broken and don’t work, the staff is horrible
An older theater that still provides a good movie watching experience. The chairs are comfortable enough, lots of leg room. Dont go if you want more than popcorn, coke, and a movie. $5 matinee is well worth.
Pros: cheap, friendly staff, some theatre rooms looked nice,Cons: the theatre (room 2) I was supposed to be in was the worst theatre room Ive ever seen, to the point I tried to escape out the back door (but it was locked) and didnt want to ask for a refund because they clearly needed the money more than I did. There were holes in armchairs stuffed with trash, a seat across the room, rips in the seats, and just...it wasnt good. Why Im giving a 3/5 is because I checked the other rooms and they were good, and because the guy behind the counter gave me a no questions asked refund. I would return, but would definitely not go into room #2.
I dont know what the heck that 1 Reviewer is talking about regarding seats worn, filthy. Etc..Must be referring to a different movie house......Allwood Theater is Great Pricing Great Seating Great Servicing...Just Great!
I would give zero stars if I could! This place is too horrible to have a star rating of 3.8!- Firstly, the screen is NOT in the center. Since we were sitting to the edge by the time we left the theater we had stiff necks!- The quality of the projection is terrible. Its as if youre watching a movie on the wall of your house using a lopsided projector.- The screen had some sparkly stuff on it right in front of where we were sitting. Come on! If you cant keep the theater clean at least keep the screen clean!- And the chairs are supposedly recliner but the ones we were sitting on were broken. Id prefer non-broken normal seats.BAD BAD choice ! I do NOT recommend this theater at all! Please do yourself a favor and pick a better theater!
Historic place in much need of an upgrade.
A great hidden treasure of Clifton. 5 dollar matinee. I love it. My number 1 place
Good prices. But bought my ticket online and couldnt get refund they said they dont do that. Which is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard.. How can you sell but not give refunds!!!!???
I came here recently to see Captain Marvel with my family..the staff was very polite and the theater was very clean..I love this place because it has a homey feeling not chaotic at all.
The theater was very dirty and cold. The screen wouldnt work at some point also. The bathroom was clean though so thats good. The drinks were really expensive for no reason. It was quiet tho and not very packed.
Worst cinema ever! Now seriously... disgusting popcorn, the seats are not comfortable, the angle of the screen was really bad for the neck and the audio was quite. But the absolute “highlight” was that middle in movie screening water started to pour down in front of the screen and nobody cared.
Movie theater was clean and the people where courteous. Great for low cost. Will go there next time I want to see a movie.
This place is complete garbage. The theater is poorly maintained and the rooms are tiny. It is cheap, but definitely not worth your time or money. You might as well watch a movie at home!
This is not the theater I remember from when I was a kid. The lobby is dingy, the theaters are dirty, the chairs are ripped to shreds, and worst of all, the sound (I was in theater 5) has issues. The dialogue in the movie was very muffled and quiet and during action scenes, it was almost completely unintelligible. Maybe the center channel isnt working correctly. They refused giving me a refund, but gave me free tickets to come back again.
Loved the movie, in the smallest theater Ive ever been in.
There is a moldy smell, that looks like it comes from the holes in the ceiling. There is also water stains on the screen. Potential health hazard.
I love the prices dwarfs amc
Been here before never had an issue. Today nothing but problems. They are undergoing renovations and no one seemed to know which movie was where. Then upon entering the threate it was so dark we couldnt even see the seats never mind pick one. We had to ask them for some light apparently they had forgotten to turn them on after the last viewing. It was sweltering hot so we had to ask them to turn the heat down at which point they blasted the ac. We sat in pitch black for 20 minutes before movie finally started.
Its nice, the prices and food are great.. but they cant do anything if a group ruins the movie for you.
I like this movie theater it was small cheap and the chairs was comfortable
I honestly can not believe that this place is still opeb!!! I actually got a full refund!! I was not about to stay at this movie theater, it’s so disgusting I was really lost for words. And the sad thing is the employees knew it was so dirty in there because they didn’t even give me a hard time getting my refund back. I would not recommend no one to go there ! I don’t care how cheap they are they are so dirty and this place should be closed down!!!
Best theatre ever!
Quaint theater. Not the hustle and bustle of the usual big boy AMC and Loews. Historic movie theater and great for the family without the heavy traffic commercial places. Just needs a little update, Thats all.
I like the experience. Its a smaller theater. Which I like.
