The architecture is awe inspiring! The feeling one experiences walking through this palatial building is thrilling! In the 50s and early 60s we went to the movies here and for a kid, it was an unforgettable and grand treat! Im so glad it was saved and restored for future generations. Ive moved away, but when I return to Cleveland and the Playhouse with the kids and grandkids I feel such pride! Weve been here many times for different events; live theater, musicals, ballet, and even movies; and every time its been perfect! The production standards are of the highest! Tip: if sitting in the top balcony, bring binoculars! The staff and ushers have always been very courteous and helpful. For example we had a huge ticket glitch, our fault and they found a way to accommodate us anyway! They were so nice and bent over backwards to help us out! Parking across the street is convenient and not too expensive. At intermission alcoholic beverages and snacks are available, at least at each event we attended. The only negative: womens bathroom is downstairs, basement level, I dont remember ever using an elevator here, so its a lot of down the stairs and back up the stairs to use the bathroom. Playhouse Square is a highly recommended experience! For evening events, feel free to glam up if you want, you dont have too, but its perfectly appropriate to dress to the nines if you want. Its fun to people watch those dressed for the red carpet and join in if you want to make it special!
Very classy theater in Clevelands Playhouse Square. The theater and stage are wonderful, and the architecture in the entire place is quite amazing! The only reason I gave four instead of five stars is that the lobby is not quite big enough to hold the volume of people before a show coming to see it. It can get VERY crowded when you are waiting for the doors to open before the show begins.
Delightful. The staff was very friendly and informative. They did their best to keep the lines moving and keep everyone organized. Its well worth buying a parking ticket or having other means of getting there as parking can be a hassle
This facility and the various related theatre facilities are perfect venues for live theatre. We were gifted tickets for The Bands Visit. Earlier in the year we had the privilege of seeing The Lion King at the State and Phantom of the Opera at the Connor Palace. Each was a unique entertainment experience.
This theater is a nostalgic blast from the past! The theater has been maticulously kept and is a beautiful venue to see a play or musical. We saw Jersey Boys and it was phenonmenal. The main lobby is big and inviting with sweeping staircases to get to the balcony. They have a good bar for intermission and bathrooms were easily accessible. The staff was extremely helpful with finding your seat and very courteous and friendly. I highly recommend the Connor Palace!
Easy in and out. All seats have a good view. Short lines at all the concessions. Sounds system was loud and easy to hear. Overall a great experience!
Very fine, regal theatre. Spacious, plush seats. Great sight lines. All seats are great.
Fantastic theater. Spacious seats with ample room. Excellent projection of sound to the house and superb eyelines to the stage. The facilities are well maintained and the theater entrance is absolutely gorgeous. There are good parking facilities in the area. There need to be a few more relaxing restaurants and eateries to complete the picture.Very easy to get to and to get to the interstate. I will return for more shows soon!
Such a beautiful building. A wonderful place to see a concert or show.
Nostalgia refinement what more
The 20-21 Broadway Launch Party and line up was awesome! To Kill a Mockingbird (with Richard Thomas!), Pretty Woman, Cher Story, Aint Too Proud, Prom, Moulin Rouge, and Hadestown!! Cleveland has the largest theater season subscription audience in North America-48,000+
Playhouse Square is a fantastic place! Gorgeous decor with incredible shows/plays/musicals! Saw Dear Evan Hansen last night and we were blown away! Such an incredible cast! We have seen many musicals here and will definitely be returning for more!
Saw mean girls here and was fun to see! amazing performance!
Beautiful venue!! Had some trouble hearing the show when the crowd got loud with laughter but still an enjoyable evening.
A great experience, although the sound system needs to be looked at. We have season tickets, but its getting harder to justify the expenditure when we can hardly understand what is being said/sung unless we are already familiar with the show we are watching
I was in the front row, the sound was great and the performance was top notch. The theater was beautiful, well kept and clean. The staff was very polite, friendly and plentiful. I was a very nice relaxing evening. I will attend more events here.
Chicago! Excellent production. Eddie George as Billy Flynn - awesome! Loved it.All of Playhouse Square is gorgeous and Connor Palace is one of the gems.
Friendly staff. Comfortable seating. Great acoustics
This theater is a jewel in the crown of downtown Cleveland, Playhouse Square. This historic theater is a great place to see any live performance, with the added bonus of its rich decor.
Just saw The Bronx Talr !!! Wow, great performance, had an amazing time! :)
Amazing evening watching Les Miserables. Beautiful production and venue.
This theater is beautiful. The entertainment is superb and the employees and volunteers are wonderful.
The Connor Palace is a great theater and all seats seem good. The Bands Visit was a fun show with an interesting storyline, some humor and some exciting music.
Saw Dear Evan Hansen here and it was amazing. This isnt a review of the show itself obviously but the venue was great and allowed for a wonderful experience of an amazing play. Can get really crowded in the lobby and toward the restroom area.
Nicest of the 5 theaters in the complex, IMHO, beautifully restored. Originally a moving picture theater, now home to numerous live productions and an occasional film festival.
The view was wonderful, the seats were comfortable, sound quality was excellent. I didnt purchase any refreshments but appeared that they were efficient. Only downfall was the exit. It was very slow and I thought the ushers could have assisted in direction and/or opening other doors.
Its classic and elegant. An intimate venue for any show.
Saw Mean Girls and really enjoyed the performance. The venue was perfect.
Beautiful venue. Great seat- but a little snug. Gorgeous lobby.
Friendly staff. very convenient to use the attached parking deck (save $ by pre-paying for parking online).
I visited this theater January 26th 2020 to see Jersey Boys. The theater was terribly uncomfortable, outdated, and very, very cramped, even worse than cheap airlines seats. My elderly mother and I were so squashed we could barely move. There was no arm room, no place to set your drink, no where to put your legs or feet. It was the most uncomfortable experience I have ever had in a theater. In addition, there is barely any slope to the floor/isles so that we were sitting behind two people and we got to stare at the backs of their heads all night. There was no way to even move from side to side to try to see the stage. I will not be returning to this theater. I truly wonder if the theaters even look at these reviews, because there is a very common theme through a lot of peoples reviews and that is the word sardines, tight seating, no leg room, uncomfortable, lack of affordable handicap seating, no elevator to the second floor; I could go on and on but as the baby boomer population ages there will be less people able to come to these kinds of theaters and that is very very sad.
I really enjoyed it I havent been there for years it was perfect
I love the performances in these beautiful old renovated theaters. The architecture is amazing.
Comfortable seating. Signs are super easy to follow. Staff and security was very patient and helpful. Large bathrooms. Theater was gorgeous. Extremely aesthetic. Very efficient as well.
Very beautiful! Helpful staff and very clean wonderful theater! We always love heading here because the plays are always awesome! We have seen about 20+ plays and all of them amazing!
Can I just say wow! Was our first time. We will definitely be back. Staff was helpful and seats were so affordable. The play was amazing!!! Cleveland should be proud.
As always, it is such a great pleasure to enjoy a Broadway play in such elegance. They will never build theatres like these again and it is amazing how they were restored and now maintaineyed for our theatre experience. And I must mention the great Red Coats who welcome us and show us to our seats, they are the best!
Gorgeous theater! Parking was super easy and convenient and there didnt seem to be a bad seat in the place!
It was wonderful not a bed seat in the house parking was easy!!
Clean site lines, decent acoustics. Plenty of volunteers to show you to your seat.
Beautiful theater - great acoustics.
One of the most amazing theatres Ive ever been to. Classically restored decor, Ive seen so many shows here and there really isnt a bad seat (although some are a bit tight)
Helpful ushers, good sound and great performances.
Clean and great view from anywhere. Employees were abundant and helpful. We had a great time
Beautiful theater with first class productions. We saw School of Rock and all the actors were excellent. The children were terrific singers, musicians, and actors. The music was great!
Great venue. Clean and not a bad seat in the house.
If you are tall, find a spot that has nobody sitting in front of you. I am 63 and could not get comfortable at all to watch the show.
My family and I go to plays here a lot, it is very nice and the sound quality is very good sitting both on the floor and upper level. Place is always very clean, the space is beautiful and employees are very nice. Lines for the restrooms can get crowded but there are other places in the area that have restrooms.
We say School of Rock on a Sunday night. Parking was easy and so was actually getting into the theater. We couldnt make a previous show and it was super easy to change our tickets over, just a phone call (though the only available seats were an upcharge). All of that aside, the show itself was a marvel. I enjoy them every time I am able to attend, and this one was especially impressive. The acting of not only the adult lead, but the kids, instruments and all, was just super impressive.Having just seen my own high schools musical the night before, the professional quality of the productions at this theater is not up for debate.Fantastic!(I did not unfortunately get a glimpse of the bathrooms in case anyone was wondering).
Great customer service everybody was very nice to me
Watched house of rock there tonight.. azong performance, the kids rocked it. Would highly recommend this theater. Its beautiful. If you can sit closer to the stage, highly worth it, although the nosebleeds are not terrible. Great dome. Parlor seats are nice as well.
Really beautiful theater!
Elegant Theatre! Love the attached garage! $15 vs 25 to 30 for valet parking! Loved the live music, dancing and singing. Its a little more than the movies but well worth it!!!!
2 hours packed in like sardines in dodgy air conditioning. Watch a whole show trying to lean away from the warm, sweaty embrace of giants. The mezzanine looked nice, empty and unavailable. Thanks for the experience, Connor Palace.
Majestic architecture. Comfortable seating. Red Cost ushers available to assist as needed. Good acoustics. Drinks and snacks for purchase in the lobby. Parking garage attached with walkway protects from the weather. Restaurants in the area. Wide variety of shows and plays performed here
We saw Hello Dolly. The show was amazing! There was quite a massive line for any type of drinks both before it started and during intermission. The theater is beautiful but the seats are quite right on top of each other... if they ever decide to remodel anymore downtown, they would probably have more comfortable seats available to enjoy the show in without it making you sit still for 2 1/2 hours. Lol
Exquisite historic theatre. Sound quality and visibility are excellent almost regardless of seating. Long restroom lines and poor layout for concessions (the lines block the stairways) detract from an otherwise perfect experience. No matter how often I come, im always in awe of the beauty of the detailed design and feel carried back to an historic time.
The show was stellar and the theater itself stunning but nothing else nice to say. Staff was awful and impolite. They have us the wrong tickets then after they showed us to the wrong seats and had to go back to the box office we found out Our tickets were double booked so we didnt get the seats we chose anyway. We had to move twice because they moved us to seats that were sold. The people next to us had the same problem. Incredible, in this tech age where computers are so exact, that this happened and the staff acted like it was our problem. So very rude. After all that they should have at the very least given a partial refund or free snacks.. anything really because they screwed it up so badly. Rude staff just added insult to injury. What a shame..
Seating was not optimal. Outside aisle seats did not allow full view of the stage and action. Service by Red coatswas excellent. The performance was excellent-what I could see.
Beautiful old theater. Great to see all of the renovations and new building going on in relation to a theater district.
Beautiful place, great plays
We went to see a musical play it really good its easy getting in and out of the seats are a little narrow
Come From Away was terrific
This is an absolutely gorgeous facility to come and view a show. Situated in the heart of downtown Cleveland and nestled inside of a Historic Landmark, this theater has architectural designs that you simply cannot see anywhere else. Coming to a show here is like taking a step into the past and experiencing what true theater is all about. The entire complex is kept extremely clean and very neat and orderly, staff is always extremely helpful and friendly drink each of the shows that Ive come to, outside you feel very safe walking through the area and parking is very easy to get to. I highly recommend anyone who has never been here before to come to a show and check it out, it is an experience that you will never forget.
Classic architecture, great sight lines, spectacular productions
Clean and comfortable in the theater. Not a bad seat in the house. Avoid the balcony bathrooms in the winter if possible, the heat doesnt reach them nor the hot water so its freezing.
My daughters high school graduation was here and it was so nice! They even had the kids school in lights which made them feel special and they blocked part of the road afterwards for pictures, which was nice and very smart
Beautiful! The seats need more legroom and to be on risers to see without heads in the way.
What a treasure in northeast Ohio. The show was very good and the theater experience is always top notch.
Super pleased with the performance and the customer service of this theatre! So glad we took a road trip to check out the city
Beautifully restored old theater that offers a large variety of shows throughout the year. Its part of an impressive theater district that often offers many different attractions at the same time.
The Broadway Buzz is held here. Its a good way to get info on the play about to be held in the State or Palace theater
They have done a great job with updating and refurbishing this beautiful theater over the years. Cleveland has the best shows and 2nd most theater seats 2nd only to new York city
It was a fabulous time. Be careful of vending prices. I was charged more than my receipt. Great show.
Class and traditional. Fantastic performances always.
Our seats were GREAT row BB middle!! Cost for a 20oz Coke product was a total gouge to the public at $5.00 each. Sad really turns a family event into a vacation with drinks and a snack.
Saw an amazing musical, Come From Away one of the best ever!
We went and saw Cinderella and it was amazing the show was fantastic and the theater is just jaw-dropping beautiful we always have a great time going to see plays here I highly recommend this location and parking is not as bad as you might imagine there are several paid parking lots that are not too far away
I love the Broadway in CLE looking forward to a third year of shows!
What a beautiful venue! The Cleveland Orchestras holiday show was an eclectic mix of classic and modern holiday songs. Christmas, Hanukkah and Advent. I hope this is the start of a family tradition.
Was here to see my son graduate from high school its very beautiful place
I have never had a bad experience here. They always perform at top tier and bring the audience to thier feet.If I had the time, I would go every night.
Great venue for the arts. Lots of great plays and shows here. We have been Broadway Series subscribers for over 15 years.
Great place to see live performances. Most of the seating you can easily see the stage. Biggest issue is the chairs are very close together. Will be coming back
Beautiful place to see a show. Take the monthly FREE tour of Playhouse Square too. Fascinating history, and cool to see backstage.
Great place to see a musical in a very cool district in downtown Cleveland.
Beautiful architecture and very classy! Feels like youre walking back in time when you walk in! Caution if you are not a small person (girth wise) the seats are extremely uncomfortable and small. It seems all these places nowadays think everyone is skinny and try to cram as many seats in as they can to make more money no matter how bad their ideas seem. Comfort should NOT be at the customers expense!
FABOULOUS FABOULOUS LOVE THE THEATER. JUST HAD AN ADULT BEVERAGE. YOU CAN FEEL THE ENERGY OF YEARS GONE BY IN THE THEATER. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful architecture. Friendly staff. Wonderful performance.
The palace is magical. I had a wonderful experience seeing Hello Dolly. The palace is beautiful and the staff is kind. All in all the palace is amazing.
Gorgeous.... historic... amazing every time. Get the popcorn during Intermission!!!
The seats are so small that its hard to be comfortable. You definitely touch your neighbor on both sides of you.
