The building itself is beautiful. I love old architecture like this. The hotel is clean and well kept. Its sad to see all the shops gone except for your typical hipster coffee shop. I would love to have seen the arcade in the 1920s in its prime. Full and bustling
The staff was amazing. The services offered were outstanding. I woke up with morning sickness one morning and the front desk sent room service to me with hot tea and crackers without my asking. The price was definitely unbeatable for all the luxuries of being downtown and access to so many attractions. We will absolutely stay here again when we come into town.
Very good experience would like to come back other than on a Sunday. Very beautiful brass work thru out. Will definitely come back again.Everyone would enjoy walking around.
This building is absolutely gorgeous! This would be a fantastic location to have an event, whether that be a fundraiser, a birthday party, a wedding, a retirement party etc. The hotel is gorgeous and is has so many shops near by as well as great restaurants. (The Chocolate Bar, The Corner Alley, Cleveland Clothing Co., The House of Blues, a BBQ place etc. We loved walking through and seeing the amazing structure!
Lovely indoor shopping center with a very nice Hyatt Regency. Many of the shops were closed at this time, so there wasnt much to see. Pre-Covid, I bet it was a lovely sight
Beautiful architecture. Its not something you can find anywhere else. However, there are no stores worth visiting open. Not sure if its due to coronavirus or how its always been.....but still feel like its a must see in Cleveland.
It is a classic old style building turned into a hotel. There are three restaurants in the building and a few other businesses as well. It is within ten minutes of the zoo, the Science Center, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Indians field, the Cavaliers stadium and the Browns field. It is across the street from the public library and anything you could need.
Absolutely gorgeous. So classy. Staff was very professional and kind. The rooms were very nice and large. Definitely will be going back. ♡
What a shame. Stunningly beautiful architecture but almost completely empty. Most stores empty. The few that are left were all closed in the middle of the day (Corona? Businesses are allowed to be open). The bathrooms are locked (keep out the homeless....why?? No one else is using the place).
This place makes u travel in time, although I was around in the 1920th i get how it used to be back going to The Mall bc thats what this is the 1029th Mall. A must do when you are in the area. DONT MISS IT
This was my first visit to Cathys and I really enjoyed the experience. The staff was amazingly friendly and explained the whole process as well as made flavor combination recommendations. I went with the coffee and cream ice cream with the brownie cookie. What I really enjoyed about the ice cream was that it has chocolate cover coffee beans blended in which is unique for coffee ice cream. It really elevated the flavor profile. The reason I am giving four stars is around the cookie and the the holding method. First lets talk about the cookie. It had a great brownie flavor so there are no complaints there. The cookie was a little crunchy for my liking which caused the ice cream to be difficult to keep sandwiched. I dont know if it was the type of cookie or the random chance of getting a crunchier cookie. However, my wifes molasses ginger cookie was soft so I am thinking it was the style of cookie that was the issue. Now on the wrapping. It comes in a nice bag that catches the drippings which is great. I think if the bag was wrapped tighter it would help to hold the ice cream between the cookies better. Another option would be to use foil in order to get a tighter hold. It could the have the bag placed around it to catch drippings. This are minor issues, but things that would have made this a five star review. I will however return to Cathys the next time I am downtown.
This is a beautiful old 3 level arcade with numerous shops & restaurants. The decor is elegant & rich with brass railings surrounding the levels. There is a glass ceiling and marble and mosaic style flooring. Many of the shops are smaller, one of a kind gift shops. There are also many professional offices and medical offices in the arcade. There is also an entrance to a hotel and bar. It is gorgeous and amazing.
It was a convenient place to do some business.
I absolutely loved this place, I am really into the architecture and what a beautiful example
Beautiful place. If you love architecture check it out
Great architecture in this place, always a historic cornerstone of cleveland.
Nice place place. Beautiful layout. There are a bunch of shops and restaurants. Chocolate bar is my favorite. The place is clean and neat. Pretty affordable too. There used to be a Greek place not sure if its sill around. You can even bring food and eat at the tables. If you are in the area this a good spot to spend time and walk around a little bit. The shops are cute too. A lot of hand made stuff is sold in some of the stores.
Gorgeous architecture, beautiful grand old building. However most storefronts were empty, seems sad and desolate
Great setting for a hotel. Always nice to stop here.
I went to Dewitts...He was very accommodating and pleasant to work with!!!Definitely my Jewelery of choice for years.
It was a nice walk downtown, but due to Covid there wherwnt many places open at the time I was there. Only reason Im giving low stars. Other than that it was a very nice walk with my fiance
Wow the inside of this building is beautiful! Next time we find ourselves in Cleveland I really want to get a room at the hotel. The top 3 floors are rooms and the rest of the space is open to the public. We walked through on a holiday so most shops were closed but still worth it. Loved learning that Thomas Edison had a shop in here.
Awesome place. One of the most beautiful architectural design Ive ever seen.
Built in the late 1800s, this was the countrys first shopping mall. Its now home to the Hyatt Regency, which has turned it into a very unique hotel experience. Request an atrium room and youll be sure to experience the wonderful architecture! In contrast, the rooms are very modern with all the amenities that you would expect. I didnt like having to pay for bottled water in my room though. They were setting up for a wedding and what a wonderful venue this would be. In addition, its close to everything you want to do in downtown Cleveland. The highest rated coffee shop is right next door, too!
Lots of nice places to shop and eat, but we went to a Harry Potter party at Cocos. Cocos has several one of a kind art and furniture pieces that have become art because of gorgeous painting techniques. The party had food and wine while we made Harry Potter themed crafts. Definitely a good time.
While walking around downtown Cleveland, I ventured into The Arcade. What struck me most was the amazing historic architecture. What a beautiful building. There were several shops located inside, but many were closed after 5PM. However, I was able to enjoy Happy Hour at Pizza (216) which was amazing. Next time, Ill try the Chocolate Bar.
They have the Hyatt Regency hotel inside along with other stores. It has a historical style to it and it is very peaceful.
Pretty nice hotel and architecture. Noticed that all the gargoyles were not all the same.Several restaurants are right across the street. Valet parking is available. A quaint coffee shop is at the entrance of the hotel. The room was very nice and clean and a room key card will be needed to get beyond the lobby floor.Hope you enjoy your visit and please like if this review helps you decide.
Wow, what an awesome place. A true piece of American Shopping Mall history. Somewhat empty today, just a few shops here and there, I suppose the big attraction is the hotel located in the upper floors (to which you otherwise have no access). Still, a great place to visit and to just enjoy the architecture of the building. Take in the true craftsmanship that went into making this place, yup, it is still visible today...now how many times can you say something even remotely similar about modern day shopping malls?
Stopped for coffee and the interior architecture of the arcade is impressive
An absolute historic stunning gem of architecture. But where are the shops to entice people to stay? Its filled with insurance companies, a post office, a fitness place, and some places to eat, the Hyatt of course occupying most of this place, but where is the draw? Still, its beautiful to at least go inside and look
The architecture in this place is absolutely beautiful. One of the most stunning and unique buildings Ive ever seen in my life. Every time I come here I have to just stop and marvel at it. Theres also a bunch of stores, including a cute botique, and a hotel and coffee shop.
This hotel is beautiful--one feels as if they are on a large floating vessel a la the Titanic instead of a bustling metropolitan center . Historically preserved as it was in the 1890s, with convenient dining and shopping options such as boutiques, spas, and restaurants al in house. They even have a post office! Chocoholics must try The Chocolate Bar--pure decadence. The staff was helpful and friendly answering all of our tourist questions. They even give you a welcome mixed drink upon checking in. 10/10 would recommend. Well worth the money spent.
The Arcade is awesome, witnessed a wedding reception live there. So beautiful edifice and remarkable features around.
If you live in the greater Cleveland area, and appreciate architectural design, I highly suggest this one. The size alone is daunting, but when you look closely at the intricate details that absolutely overwhelm every square inch of the entire area, it becomes apparent that this building was a massive undertaking. A labor of love. Plenty of shops and fast food, very clean restrooms. A great place overall.
Gorgeous. Wonderful place to stay. Just perfect!
Interesting eclectic assortment of shops.
Great place. The architecture and design is beautiful. The renovation has kept the original spirit and flare of what is one of Americas first indoor shopping malls.Featuring some awesome shops, restaurants and the Hyatt Recency Hotel.
Very quiet. Clean. Sitting area with refrigerator and and coffee. A few open restaurants
It is a beautiful, historic building. But it is a bit empty now.
Beautiful hotel with extremely nice staff. Walking distance to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as tons of amazing restaurants.
Sweet hotel. Very nostalgic. Wasnt loud at all like the reviews said. Middle of it all
Great employees! Great atmosphere! Their bartenders sure can mix up a mean drink. So delicious Their food is right there with their drinks. You will not be let down at all.
Did not like the quality of the good dishes, i mean they look great, but they taste... well you can get better food for the price is all o am saying. The customer service was okay. I would not go here again.
Great place, 2nd time staying here...loved it!
Most of the shops are closed, but I came for the architecture and interior design. Beautiful work!
Beautiful place. Good brunch at The 1890 Restaurant inside. Stores were closed on new years day but was nice walking around the arcade while empty
Very cool to know it was the first Mall constructed in the United States. Aestheticly, its kept in perfect condition, the gold trimming and overhead ceiling glass structure is worth seeing in person. Easy location to dining areas nearby, great lunch options inside as well.
This coffee has both an indoor and outdoor area. Inside, you can order beverages and pastries, and there are some comfy padded chairs and other tables/chairs for sitting. I got an iced green tea latte to sip on, and my friend ordered a lavender London (earl grey/lavender/milk) and a blueberry muffin.
The Arcade was very nice Beautiful people that work there nice all around area love it there we will be back to stay we thought we loved the fancy Hilton hotel until we stayed at the Arcade . The Arcade every thing is close we just love it there the 216 pizza place was very good cant say enough about the Arcade thanks for Everything!
What a fantastic, gorgeous historic building! Im glad I had the opportuinty to enjoy this rare architecture.
Beautiful building but its pretty empty. Hopefully its because of the virus
Five stars for ambiance, fabulous architecture and a great place to walk around and sit. Wish they could get more shops in there. However at either end there are bar restaurant venues and a great coffee shop.
Nothing going now but still a trip through time to walk through
Really nice building explored the surrounding areas. Crazy to think this was once completely used
Awesome shopping place. Really cool around saint Patrick’s day. I make it a priority to go every year for this event as it is really cool. The atmosphere and architecture is one you don’t want to miss. The shops are small but they do sell some cool things, mostly clothes and such.
Awesome place to stay, amazing service.
Super unique hotel. Absolutely beautiful. Awesome location. Great staff.
A very beautiful building and space with some interesting features, history, and claims to fame. Its worth a visit just to see.Unfortunately, there are a lot of vacancies and, when we visited, most of the few businesses were closed, including the food court.
The architecture is magnificent, packed with art deco details. The only reason I am taking one star off is because it was mostly dead. Besides the hotel operation (top floors) the retail spaces were either unoccupied or closed for the most part.
This is the Hyatt Regency at the Arcade and we have stayed here multiple times. My wife and I really like this place. Its located near a lot of places downtown that you can walk to. The interior architecture is beautiful. It can be a bit pricey depending upon the dates but it is really nice and the customer service cant be beat. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars and I know this sounds a little weird but depending on the room you get sometimes the bathroom can be a little small
Stunning! Professional people and very clean
Gorgeous, classy, bold and unique - these are the words that come to mind.
Beautiful architecture! Check the directory before you go, most of it is chiropractors, barber shops, a post office, etc. Not a place to shop, but still worth a visit!
A historic area of Cleveland that always brings back memories with its unforgettable architecture and amazing shops & restaurants! A great location for both a romantic evening, or a casual one depending on the places you choose to go to. Either way, its always guaranteed a great time!
Visited the Arcade for a wedding. It was so beautiful.
This arcade is inside Hyatt Regency in Cleveland downtown. When I entered into the arcade, the ambience was just wow.. it seemed that I had entered into some palace. So nicely decorated..There were few shops and restaurants..We went to Chocolate bar ..Must visit for atleast once ...
I grew up in Cleveland and always enjoy visiting the Arcade. Definitely an unique experience. This year, I was able to visit at night and it was lit up! Worth the visit!
Majority of the stores are closed and homeless people like to sneak inside at night.
Beautiful space to walk through. I am curious as to know how good the hotel rooms are.
Gorgeous architecture. Not really a retail location any more. Part of a hotel.
The Arcade is a part of Cleveland History, its nice to see how it has changed since it was firts built
Great hotel, right in the middle of all the action. Close to the stadium, casino, the federal reserve, and this alley way where you can get some good food.
I love this place. The ice cream shop puts a delicious twist on ice cream sandwiches!
The architecture is wonderful. The shops are cute and is in a great location.
Everything is long since closed. Its a glorified lobby at this time of year.
Beautifully detailed architecture. Lots of history and a bit of charm. There are many vacancies here though with regard to the shops. I expected there to be an actual mall like atmosphere but most of the businesses are empty. Parking is decently convenient with a garage right next door.
Beautiful historical building in the heart of Cleveland
The Arcade is an architectural gem. A beautifully restored space thats completely empty. Where are the shops?
Nice architecture, if you are walking in downtown, just jump in an look around.
Everything about this place is beautiful! Although we werent there in time too eat at the restaurants located in the lower part .I enjoyed walking through it.
Beautiful place, I love the architecture, and it’s clean and nice. You can come for a coffee, and appreciate this building. Take in count that it’s mostly offices and doesn’t have official stores so it’s only for a walk.
The hotel is a nice old building but it gets a lot of people just looking at the inside chrismas decorations and they can be loud. I was on a lower floor so there was no view. We heard garbage truck every morning at 4:30am also delivery trucks come early as well so try to get a higher floor room and then you should have a pleasant stay.
We really enjoyed the architecture and unique shops
A great piece of history in Cleveland thats well worth the visit. A couple of nice shops and restaurants in this place.
Real nice hospitality pleasent staff
This place is absolutely beautiful. A hidden treasure in the heart of downtown. Nice restaurants and bars nearby.
