I was having a problem with a new fish tank again. So I left my old fish store and now go here . This place has been extremely helpful and knowledgeable.. I don’t think I could of made it without them ... I can’t thank the owner enough ..

Nice place! Would check it out if interested in fish but limited selection of other animals and reptiles. A little dirty inside, but no smell or anything. You can tell they care for the animals.

First time out here and I have sat in the parking lot for 25 minutes after they are supposed to be open. May give a better review if they are ever open when Im back in the area.

Place smells so bad, fish are not taken care of, dead and unhealthy diseased. I bought 4 fish and they killed 4 of my other fish from being sick.

Had a nice variety of fish, ended up getting 3 platinum angels! Fred was great to deal with!

The owner Fred is a great guy very helpful. They have a continuous variety of fish amphibians and reptiles. Also has a large selection of quality used equipment especially tanks

It was like a sad, dirty fish prison. The guy working was nice though. Personally. Greeted me and asked if I needed help. Came out from behind the counter and showed me some stuff. But, the tanks were all empty, just fish. No sand, gravel, plants (to be fair a few had corral or what not). Nonetheless, I wouldnt be so comfortable buying fish that lived in those conditions.

If zero stars was an option, thats what this place would get. It is an awful place! The smell hits you full on the second you walk in the door. It reeks of dirty and dead animals. Those poor live animals are not well taken care of. There were dead fish floating in many tanks and the reptiles needed cleaned badly. There were also a couple dead fish on the floor. To add to the depressing vibe, its dark in there also. My daughter and I were almost in tears at the horrible condition the animals were living in. We almost ran out the door, we couldnt get out of there fast enough! The owner(s) should not be in this business!!!

Was coming through Cleveland yesterday, drove out of my way to visit this place. It was closed. Hours of operation on their website said they were open, hours of operation on their door said they were open. Closed sign hanging on the door. Dont waste your time.

Please do not buy from this owner. He is so unknowledgable about the basics of reptiles. These animals are suffering in his pathetic care. Dear owner, stop being a cheapstake and trying to make a dollar on an animal that you obviously have no passion for.

This place is extremely helpful they have people in the store that offer you help as soon as you come in the store. They also say good morning and make u laugh alot. They will help u pick out the best brand possible. They have other animals in there besides fish they have snakes, iguanas and bunnys.

Photos of one of their snakes posted online suggests very poor welfare.

Terrible place all around. Stay away ! First, the entire store is nasty. From dead and sick fish in just about every tank, to dead fish who seems to have jumped out onto the floor. Looks like he never cleans anything. Just sits there with his Bluetooth in his ear and collects cash.Second the customer service is the worst of anyplace I’ve been. I went in to get a 6 ft stand for my 125 gallon. Fred, the owner helped me and told me that the stand would need to be ordered and that a payment of $400 was needed to do so. It was a Sunday and he said if if he ordered it now it would be there Tuesday or Friday, So I did. I told him I didn’t have a truck so please let me knw when it would be in so I could rent one. Long story short; stand didn’t come Tuesday, stand didn’t come Friday. He had someone call to say it would be there the following Tuesday. Needless to say it didn’t. This time he didn’t call or anything. At that point I just wanted my money back. Called the store to let him knw that I no longer wanted the stand. He told me to “ Go spend your money with the white man.” Never once did he try to accommodate me. If he would have at least offered to deliver the stand once it got there all would have been forgotten.DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE !!

If I could give it no stars I would. Stopped by and it was closed even tho it says its open at the time I was there. Looked inside the door and it looks like a ghost town. Nothing like the pictures they display on their site. They also changed locations because the outside of the building is different in the picture then what is actually here.

They could get the place more organized and clean. Tanks stacked together after having been used and left dirty. Aside from that, staff was super friendly and helpful, and the variety of cichlids and other fish that they had was not limited. Prices are a little high, though.

If youre at least my age (40) you remember the days when your parents took you to a pet store where you pick out your first pet that you begged for all year long. You know the one that you promise to take care of, clean its cage, and feed it regularly? This is it throwback to the old school, owner on site, real expert pet store that caters exclusively to folks who keep fish. The owner of this particular store was the manager of the pet store that I went to throughout my childhood. I was thrilled as an adult to learn that he went off on his own and started Jurassic Aquatics. I cant say enough nice things about Fred and his business practices. Dont take it from me, visit the store sometime and see almost every customer who walks in treats him like theyre old friends if not family. Do a little business at that store and youll feel the same way. Anyone who has ever had this experience should at least check out Jurassic and see what youve been missing... You walk into a big box retail pet store and the idiot child who is just old enough to drive him or herself to work asks if they can help you. You asked for anything that is not directly in front of them and they immediately start drooling and call a manager. What should be a two-minute interaction with a sales person in a store turns into a 20 minutes or longer Fiasco to just explain what youre looking for... Because there isnt a chance in hell theyve even heard of it. That will never happen at Jurassic, if it involves fish either saltwater or fresh, Fred is your man. By the way, they also offer full-service aquarium maintenance for those of us that are just a little too busy or appreciate the service of an expert to do it themselves. How many big-box retailers offer house calls?

Nice service, poliet and good selection

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Walking through the doors it immediately reeked of ammonia. The floors and everything else in the front room were Aabsolutely filthy. Walking into the reptile section I notice that every animal was being kept in very tiny enclosures. Not one of the reptiles had suitable drinking water. The ball python’s cage was wide open. The bearded dragons were very, very malnourished and dehydrated. The leopard geckos were even worse. The chameleons enclosure was a desert setup. Chameleons require a tropical environment with very high humidity. Since it wasn’t being kept in the right kind of enclosure it had stuck shed, was very dehydrated and malnourished. The red tegu looks about dead. I would bet anything all of their reptiles are infested with mites. The fish tanks weren’t any better. All the tanks were filthy. Most of them had dead fish floating in them. There were even dead fish on the floor of the store. We saw a foot and a half koi shoved in a no-bigger-than 15 gallon tank. The other 3 were in about a 30 gallon tank. The water was absolutely horrendous. Finally I decided to leave. On my way out I saw the hedgehog that had very dirty bedding and even dirtier water. Please, no one go to this establishment. Spending money here, even for just supplies, would only further fuel the abuse of these animals. I sincerely hope this place gets shut down...

This place use to be awsome when it was in Richmond and for a short time when they moved to mayfield.i dont know what happend over the last few years but it had really fell apart I dont know if the owner isnt around or he just lets the guy that works there run by himself but you can tell there is no concern for taking care of the place or the fish and reptiles that are there

The overall look of this place is not all that spectacular but the fish are very good quality. The employees were very friendly and helped find what I needed. They were also very knowledgeable. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a fish and doesn’t want to go to Petsmart or Petco.

My daughter and I drove all the way out there from Mentor. They were not open. We sat for half an hour still not open. Went inside and looked through the door. It sort of looks like they are packing stuff up so Im not sure whats going on with this place.

Never again it was very messy and unkept.

Not open when hobbyist can shop, Saturday hours would be nice to be able to shop.

Hard to find had no outside signs and the guy said the fish we got would be safe with are other fish..they were not are other fish ate them.this guy had no idea what he was talking about and we will never go back again and our 2year old fish died within a week after getting fish from them so I dont think they were healthy. beware...

Used to be a great store that cared for their animals...now they are disgusting. I used to visit their old location prior to moving away from the cleveland area upon moving back i was excites to visit their new location with my husband and 6 yr old son. I was not only disappointed but horrified at the conditions the animals are kept in. It was a sad trip for everyone involved and I will be contacting someone to look into the conditions these animals are kept in as it is cruel and inhumane. Many dead fish, extremely poor reptile husbandry and overall dirty dirty dirty! Please do not support this business as it will only cause harm to more animals

I usually go to two turtle pet center and I decided to stop by this place. I was pretty disappointed at the quality and the variety of fish, seems like the store could have a lot of potential. The owner seemslike a very nice guy but I expected more.

Tanks are not clean a lot of tanks are empty I think that they can do a better job of cleaning them.

I was checking out some fish stores in the area since Im not from there, and was appalled. Looking at the reviews there are loyal customers, but something most have happened to the owner that he changed his practices.The levels of ammonia as you walk in the door made it difficult to breathe. The lighting was low and it looked more like a dungeon. The tanks were dirty and there were many dead fish as well as fish feeding on the dead. Big fish and animals were in tanks/cages that were entirely too small to even consider it cruel. We walked out before we finished looking around. I cant imaging anyone staying in business with conditions like that. Very sad.

Very smart guy when it comes to fish...

This place needs to take better care of its animals. Disgusting living environments for its lizards (Multiple piles of poop in each tank!) The fish tanks didnt look any better. Lack of insect feeders as well.

This store is far from perfect. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Just went to the store the other day and my daughter and I were almost in tears at how disgusting the conditions were for the animals!!! It smelled horrible, the tanks and terrariums were dirty and the animals were in very bad shape! I wish there were inspections and regulations to get rid of places like this! In our opinion this was definitely animal neglect and abuse!

They have a great selection of fish and aquarium supplies.

My family has been buying fish and working with Fred for 15 years. He is the best in the business and has great prices. If you go there, you will not be disappointed!

Ive had great success from everything i purchased here, they offer excellent advice and really know their products. They also allow trading with supplies, which you could never get at the big places.

Very dirty inside. They had 4 adult ball pythons in cages that were disgusting. They were covered in poop and urine, no clean water at all. Cages werent adequately sized either. You wouldnt be buying animals from them, you be rescuing them.

I went there twice and tanks were dirty. I pointed out the 5 different tanks had iik disease on there fish. The used tanks they have are really over priced. He was selling a 90 gallon used tank and he wanted 800 bucks. That sounds like a brand new price to me. Every fish Ive seen looked stressed out, even the feeder goldfish. It was probably 50 dead fish just sitting in the tank. Most all the freshwater tanks, the fish were almost dieing. Im surprised people even go to fred.

2pm on Thursday they were closed. Sign says they were suppose to be open at noon till 830. Waste of a 30 min drive. Will not be back.

Terrible store with a terrible environment for the animals as well. You walk in and it reeks of dead animals and the encloses for snakes are so small they cannot even fully stretch out. It is the same for other animals. I found several dead fish in the dirty tanks packed to the brim with fish. A very sad sight and will not be getting my money. Would give no stars if I could.

There was a dead decayed baby bearded dragon laying on the floor of the Tegu enclosure. I confronted the guy about it and he told me that it crawled in there by accident and the Tegu killed it. It was obviously left in there for weeks... Im horrified and never going back. Also all the fish have ick and the tanks are filthy

Second time Ive tried to go to this store but I guess they dont care actually opening the store. Ive been in once before and it was pretty gross inside and it smelled like straight rodent poop. Pretty bad overall. Dont think Ill ever make a trip here again.
