This place was AWESOME!!! The staff was friendly and helpful... No fee required, but donations accepted, which makes me love this place for families that cant afford expensive fees on their vacations... if you can afford it, please be like me and drop a little extra in the box to keep it this way... thank you J. Davis legacy!! Awesome collection!!
I have been going to the JM Davis Gun Museum since I was a child. My father would take my brother and I. Im a grown man now and my wife and I take our children. Its far more than just a place with a bunch of guns. It is the history of our great Nation in the flesh. There are firearms that represent our country at every turn. Next, Ill bring my grandkids. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Its a great place to visit.
Great place to visit. Self touring. Lots of historical information along with thousands of guns and other artifacts. Seeing the donated guns from local police departments were pretty cool. Each of my teenage boys had something that was their favorite. Easily spent an hour there m, could have spent more. We didnt see everything. Free to visit, donations only accepted. Had a gift shop and clean bathrooms.
This is a must see if your a gun guy. Even if your not there is a good bit of history about guns and the city.of Claremore. Free entry. They ask for donations. If you like tl donate. About 1- 1 1/2 hour walk through.
We went there to see the new display of the american indians. It was nice. The place is huge. I had a great time looking at all of the fire arms. Then lunch at the Hammet house, a great day.
Ive been there Many, Many times.Enough to think Ive seen it ALL.But Every time I come back to visit, there is ALWAYS some new collection, I seem to have OverLooked.A MUST SEE for any FireArm Enthusiasts Bucket List!!@
I loved this place! My head was buzzing when I left. I want that one and that one...
I was very surprise when arriving to the place. When walked in the lady was very nice and gave us some instructions. We started our tour and was very surprised on how many guns there are. Many rifle handguns and collectibles. Very clean and presentable. Would definetly like to come back if in Oklahoma again.
This is not a super modern museum, but I did enjoy it a lot. The key thing to note is that, although there are lots of guns, there are other things to see. Entry is free. There is a suggested donation of $5 per adult. I think it would be easy to spend 2 or more hours there. Closed on Sunday and Monday. There is a toy gun display in the back.
Loved it! Cant believe how many guns they have there
Great place to visit, they have every gun every made and its just a wonderful place to spend a Saturday. They charge on a donation basis so thats always nice as well. Id give it 5 stars but they frown upon you riding in the tank. They have a cool looking knife exhibit as well and a nice little shop you can buy little trinkets and books. You should definitely try to make it out to visit once in your life.
They are preserving our history and our love of guns. Only place Ive ever been where you could go to someones grave while in a business.
Fantastic collection of firearms and other weapons, Claremore-specific items, cowboy, military, outlaw, police, and prison artifacts, etc.!
I enjoyed reading about the history of many things here. Cause there is more than just guns here
I really enjoyed this Museum. It houses over 20,000 firearms and firearm related items and contains guns from all around the world including Kentucky rifles, a Gatling gun, black-powder guns of all types, cannons, rare Colts, Winchesters, elephant, whaling, and outlaw guns.Besides firearms, the collection contains 1,200 German beer steins.
What a hidden gem!I can’t believe it took me this long to write a review. It’s been about 3 years and I can’t wait to go back.Plan a day with a break for a picnic or grabbing a bite to eat in town and then return. Such an amazing place that you can not get enough of and not enough time in the day to take it all in.What an amazing collection this man has left in trust to be preserved for people to enjoy forever.Thank you so much for such a memorable day for my husband. It cost absolutely nothing, but donations are accepted and I recommend. If you don’t think it’s worth it than don’t donate, I hardly find that would be the case.Just amazing.
Love this place. Good place to take kids. I didnt think my 7 and 2 year old would survive but we ended up staying over 2 hours. My husband reloads and is a gun enthusiast so he was there longer he loved it. They have a display of vintage cap guns, kids old toy guns. My kids loved it they had a setup to take pictures. They had a display for train something that is not done yet. Hoping we can go back and see that. The only reason we left was because my kids were starving. They have seating in several areas for breaks. Way to much to look at, Im sure we will go again this summer. We found it well worth the drive and donation. Its nice to go somewhere affordable. Good place for a large group or family. Clean and lots of information. The lady at the front is very kind and helpful. Photo shown is my kids favorite gun.
Excellent. We have to go back to finish even after spending 2+ hours looking.
This place is great. The people that work here are friendly and happy to help. All the history here is just awesome
What ever you do, prepare to spend 4 hours at a minimum here. If you like/love firearms and history, it could be an all day outing! I stopped in on my travels expecting to breeze through it right before it closed. How wrong I was. This museum is amazing, and the displays and sheer number of firearms is bordering on overwhelming! (Note: I am not being hyperbolic.)I look forward to spending an entire day exploring this hidden gem!
Information over load of the best kind
Great collection, very educational for all ages
Its free to go ( donations accepted.) I have gone here since I was a young girl. I tried explaining to my husband just how many guns are there but it never does it justice until you see how many guns there are! I love all the historic weapons and the outlaw guns. My kids really enjoy seeing all of them as well. Would recommend a visit if youre a gun enthusiast and even if you are not, the history is a big draw.
Alot of historically significant firearms here
This was my Great Great Uncles collection on my Mothers side, I never new to much about him till my first time here at the museum, the film that they shared was amazing, he was a Great kind man that cared about guns an the city & people of Clarmore. It is an Amazing collection. Thanks for sharing Uncle Jim
Wow wow wow. If you have even the slightest inclination towards guns this is the place to go. Almost 14,000 guns from a personal collection. Lots of other stuff as well.
Largest private arms collection in the world. Unlike many museums, nearly everything is properly labeled. Friendly staff. I could spend weeks there.
We visited the museum when my dad was visiting from Corpus Christi. We knew they would be a lot of fun but were pleasantly surprised with the other exhibits and items for viewing. Took my kids, 7 and 10 and they enjoyed it too.
Awesome must see attraction so cool!
Very diverse and educational collection! Well worth your time!
Very cool place they have alot of guns from rifles to umbrella pistols.
The best gun museum. Been here several times over the years, brought my 13 year old grandson here and he was really excited. He is a hunter and really enjoyed the different guns. And loved the small handguns.
Awesome place! Was completely overwhelmed when I walked in. I never expected it to be so vast and well put together!
This museum has the largest collection of guns Ive ever seen. And it’s free to get in. You can’t beat free! They have so many guns they have to rotate pieces through.A definitely stop! Largest private gun collection in the world. They don’t just have guns. They have a lot of history in here. This museum has the largest collection of guns Ive ever seen.
The collection is amazing. I never could have thought one person could buy so many guns. Plan on spending at least 2 hours at the museum.
Lots of historical items besides the firearms. And enjoyed the quick draw gun show they had on the day of our visit.
If you sat there and read all the tag for each gun you may spend a week in there
Its one mans gun collection an all-day event Ive been going there for over 30 years fun for the whole family
Really interesting and amazing items
Really enjoyed this museum. Weapons from different ereas and parts of the world
So much history in this building. I would definitely recommend to any gun enthusiast..
The best gun museaum around. Free to enter and they allow service dogs which was great since i went with my sister. I can spend all day here.
Awesome place! A gun enthusiasts dream! Hope all these guns can be preserved for many future generations!
Really interesting Museum that is totally free. They do accept donations and I gladly donated. Really awesome if you like guns and history.
Wonderful collection of firearms, but the map provided upon entry is unreadable, and there is no rhyme nor reason to the layout to even ensure that you’ve seen all there is to see. A good map and a division of the gallery into marked sections/rows would help immensely. Or a line on the floor that outlines a pre-determined path to follow would be a great help. Still not sure I saw everything there was to see because it was all so confusing.
Wonderful place to visit ..and they have outdoor shootem ups in summer for entertainment
Great museum. Alot of firearms dating way back. Very interesting place to visit and alot of history.
Very interesting place
I havent been there
It was a very nice place. It holds a lot of American history.my boys had a great time walking through looking at all the displays and reading about history. Staff is very friendly and informative.
Quite a experience. Fantastic collection of firearms and history. Gotta visit and experience for yourself .
Wayne McCo.bs has really done an amazing job getting this museum into tip top shape. Gr8 gun collection, very nice staff. A gr8 place to roam through and see Mr Davis collection. You will enjoy this building and its staff. Go through it, well worth your time!!!
I love this place 14,000 guns
Its definitely got something for everyone, even if you arent really into guns. People are friendly, its super clean, its an interesting time.
Clear you day if youre gonna come here. Cause this place is enormous and it has a whole lot of stuff and guns to see. It will take you hours to see it all. I rushed thru so I could get tons of photos to share. I will have to make a return visit to soak up the vast amount of historic knowledge this place offers. I met a really nice Lady .Pat who has worked there for 29 years. She is super sweet and super knowledgeable. She is 89 and offers up a kindness and sweetness that is next to none. Thank you Pat for our visit and great conversation. This place is well worth the visit and the small donation that keeps this place running and well cared for. This place doesnt dissapoint. So make a day of it and come see ever kind of gun there is here . Take a picture for a memory to have with the real actual tank out front. I did.
Great firearms museum
Very informational and I saw things I grew up with at my grandparents house.
So much to see! We spent 3 hours inside and could easily have stayed longer. A must see for gun or history lovers. Nicely organized and lots of information about all the items. I especially enjoyed the Law and Order memorabilia. Seating available in the back if you need a break or are waiting for others. Our daughter enjoyed the train set, the childrens table with books and the horse and buggy. Free admission. Gift shop items available also. The map is especially helpful when looking for favorites.
They say that quality exceeds expectations. If thats true, this museum is quality times 100.I never imagined such a large collection, so well preserved, so well organized, so well identified, and so creatively displayed. You can cruise the aisles, like I did, and see most of the groups. Or you can plan the hours needed to examine a majority of the groups. If I get to go again, Ill first select a few categories and see in detail the displays that most interest me.Combining the firearms AND the non-firearm artifacts, Im estimating the museum contents approach 15,000 individual items!Im guessing the glass covered displays require thousands of square feet of polished glass. Dont let the size of the one city block wide building fool you.Its Big.
It was the best thing everl. They have over 50,000 items to look at. Definitely will come again.
Fun place. Lots to see. Its not just for gun enthusiasts. Plenty of history if you take the time to look. Recommended.
Absolutely amazing private collection of over 14,000 guns and other artifacts. Plan on at least a couple if hours to fully take in the museum.
Each time I visit I take a different route through the dozens of aisles, and each time I have to call it quits after just a couple of hours, as it is just too much to take in. It is inconceivable (yes I know what that word means) an individual such as Mr Davis could have amassed a private collection of over 14,000 firearms. My hats off in his memory and for the legacy he left the within the city of Claremore, OK of his fantastic museum.
Largest assortment of firearms, anywhere. Great displays, friendly and informative staff.
Not being a gun totin local it was macarbly fascinating. So many guns.
Wonderful museum with amazing history of firearms. We have visit twice and I dont believe Ive seen it all. If youre a history buff youll thoroughly enjoy this.
So much history of firearms
Plan on spending some time, 4 hours didnt get us through the whole thing
Very interesting and over 14,000 guns.
I really enjoyed the visit. As other reviewers point out, its much more than just guns. The breadth of the collection staggered my mind. There is so much more to learn; I hope they add more information in the displays. Ill be back.
Awesome place to see! Huge. Couldnt see everything in one visit. Hope to return one day soon.
Awesome collection. I could spend weeks here.
If youve never been here. Its a must see stop in Claremore Oklahoma. I was privilage to see it several times when it was in the old hotel it was once housed in. You simply must stop here and see this. It will take you several hours but oh so worth it.
Lots of unique firearms!
Great for all ages. Like walking back in history.
Great place!
Absolutely astounding collection of guns, housed in a building straight out of the late 60s. Mr Davis was clearly a compulsive collector, as there are also collections of beer steins, clocks, knives, murder weapons, you name it! Well worth a visit!
Kinda boring after a while but if you are a fan of large gun collections you will love this place.
Wow, more guns and rifles, all sorts of arms. Best ever
Ive already posted about it in questions so go read that
Great place to look at an amazing collection of history and arms. I never imagined so many interesting things were inside to look at and arranged in such a way that it makes sense and you can enjoy. Great place to go for a cheap family venture. No admission, they just ask for a donation.
Impossibly large weapons collection, but presented in a very sterile fashion. Will be boring for kids.
I am no stranger to weaponry and the instant I set foot in this place I was awestruck! The breadth and depth of the collection took away my breath and filled me with a reverence for historical value of this Magnificent collection. The care given to each item and its labeling and its reference to its place in history showed a care and attention to detail worthy of any private specialty Museum on this planet. I did not set aside enough time for this stop on my journey ! Give yourself a whole day.
Never have I ever seen this many guns in one place. Very interesting lived it
Its was a good feeling to have people that care. Not look down on u. Thank u all for helping us.
So much history, from the best of human kind to the worst.. firearms of every imaginable sort.
Fantastic place for gun lovers. Guns from around the world. Also had crossbows and the worlds largest and smallest gun.
My son loves guns and is head over heels with this incredible museum. Beautifully displayed and wall labelled, this is a must see for the gun enthusiast.
Wow! A lot to see. You must go, you will learn a lot about guns.
Outstanding in every way. Staff is very helpful. Prepare to stay awhile as theres a lot to see and explore. Something here for everyone. Loved it.
On a road trip, I budgeted 2.5 hours for this stop, and was just barely able to walk through all the rows. Definitely should have had more time to be able to truly appreciate and enjoy all of what the museum had to offer.Lots of very rare and unusual firearms and even a few pieces made as one offs by gunsmiths.
