Nice state park with lake. The park has several picnic areas with restrooms. Restrooms weren’t clean though. Dogs are allowed on trails. Family friendly Park with multiple activity like Boating, Fishing, Hiking etc. We particularly enjoy the 5 mile loop trail that around the lake in a circle. It goes through the woods, picnic areas and campground. Definitely revisit.

Very pretty and well kept park. A great place to have a nice quite afternoon. Definitely going to bring my kayak and paddle board next time I come to paddle out to one of the small islands. They also have decent restrooms which is nice.

Clean, well kept grounds.& lake.Did not go into the campgrounds this time.But have in the past.I have been going to this State Park for 30 yrs. Their camp grounds has always been kinda like a dump. Must be private owned.Have never visited a state operated camp look or be this bad! No showers.Please, get into the 21st century!!!.

Loved the hiking trails. The park was clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking. Also enjoyed the boat rentals available from 0700-1630hrs

Perimeter trail is a really nice 5 mile trail. Well marked and maintained.The campground is nicely shaded and not as crowded as others.

Nice well-maintained state park. The main office wasnt open. Didnt use the restroom. The loop trail was nice!

We got a pretty nice campground, that had the right amount of trees for hammocks and tents. The campground volunteer was incredibly kinda, as well as helpful. We took a small pontoon boat and canoe out onto Hargis Lake for an afternoon and that was fun also. Plenty of wildlife to see.There is also running water and actual flushing toilets on site; no showers though. All in all, pretty good, but a little expensive per night.

Nice boat dock with lighting, its a quiet, beautiful lake, several accessible islands, canoe and kayak restal, has restrooms, campsites, playground, picnic&grill areas, various trails including 5 mile loop, a shorter loop trail and mountain bike trail, Pet swim beach and the glowworms are amazing out there toward end of summer! Several geocaches too! :) the dock geocache is the best!!

If you like to hike and sweat this is the place for you! Dog friendly and a MTB trail as well! Dont forget your pole! Fish are always biting!

Campground was clean. Camp post volunteer seemed a little intrusive. ODNR also seemed intrusive. They could both relax a little bit but overall it was a nice campground. No showers. Would not recommend more than two days if you do not have a camper with a shower. 5 miles trail around the lake is awesome.

They have a campground there with full hook ups but dont allow truck campers. there is a nice lake there and rent canoes or John boats. They have a bait store and a little convenience store also. They were closed when we were there but those who have there own boats were out enjoying the water. Those fishing were catching fish.

Hiked the lake perimeter loop and side hiked some of the newer mountain bike trails (wouldnt mtb here personally - too cross country and not enough rise/fall that flows). They have more recently installed new bridges over the many water crossings, which is nice to see the upkeep. I enjoy seeing the variety of wooded areas and the soil types change as I hiked. The rock formations and small falls remind me of Hocking hills. Definitely makes for a nice winter day hike!

This is a very nice park with many things to do. The large lake is scenic with lots of places to fish. There are boat rental places and an older less maintained mountain bike trail.

Its a lovely place, easy access, there is a 5 mile loop that u can walk around

Great park, good fishing spot. A great place to just get away and relax and do some fishing. Only complaint from me and for the 4 star rating is that people are starting to leave their trash at the sore line. Please dont do that.

This is a great little gem. Not a big park, but quiet, peaceful, and serene. Water access from the campgrounds to put the kayaks in the lake. Nice trail circles the lake. The camper hosts were very friendly and helpful. We will camp here again!

Pretty good family atomosphere

I absolutely love kayaking here. I fish too but Im not very good so I havent had the best of luck, but even if I dont catch a single fish I still enjoy just being out on this beautiful body of water

My dad took me here when I was a kid and I take my kids. Its a family tradition.

My family of 5 did the 5 mile hiking trail (4 month old and 2 year old in carriers, almost 4 yr old walked the whole thing). All in all its beautiful, the blue trail follows the edge of the lake plus goes along the streams/creeks that are connected. We hope to do it again although it was at the edge of what our kids could handle.Some warnings. Some of the bridge material is lacking, we had the jump over the water at times (2 times it was wider than our strides and we got our feet wet). There was also quiet a bit of mud, but we had had rain within 24 hrs of taking the hike. Signs/maps are just okay. They do mark the trees with a blue mark once in the woods but never having been there we had a hard time finding where the trail started!

This is a great little place to have a hike or cookout with your family. You can walk the trails all the way around the lake which is roughly 5 miles. No gas motor boats just small electric motors. Its very peaceful my family and our pets love it. Its worth going.

Love the 5-mile trail that circles the lake. Always enough people on the trail so that you never feel like youre alone, but you can still enjoy the feeling of solitude of hiking.

Small campground, so if its busy, its incredibly loud. Friday night/Sat morning starting at 6am, there was a large cub Scout group earning their merit badges in screaming. Really no quiet hours at this camp. Traffic in and out of the campground all hours as well, mostly diesel trucks. Considering how small the camping area is, the amount of noise and traffic was pretty nuts. I love the lake and the hiking trail around it, but this is not a place Id camp at again or recommended unfortunately.

Its muddy when wet, but thats part of the charm of a state park. Some steep inclines, nice views. You can bring the dog too please pick up after them so we can continue being allowed to bring them.

One of my favorite places to go to get away from it all. Hill g trail all the way around the lake is great.

Nice wooded area. If you are looking for a campground with fancy amenities or shower houses this isnt for you. If you are looking for a nice smaller state park campground it is perfect. They show a movie at the amphitheatre on Saturday night.

More than I expected. Great 5 mile hiking trail around the lake.

The MTB trail has some wicked climbs and descents. Definitely builds climbing skills, not for the faint of heart, but itll make you strong! Crazy climbs aside its my favorite of the big three trails in the Columbus area.

Great spot for family and fishing, kayaking..

Avoided the interstates and took the blue highways guided by Onstar across northern KY into Ohio. This was a great little spot. I dry camped 3pm until 9am. The price was 10.50 for Golden Buckeyes.. I assume I am qualified. It was beautiful and enough pavement to get in a 45 min walk.

Beautiful park and lake with a vigorous five mile hiking nature trail. There are plenty of picnic tables and grilles, however they could use a few more trash containers; then maybe people wouldnt be such pigs and not litter!

Absolutely LOVELY lake and park. Great fishing! Had the best time May 20, 2019. All visitors should be aware of lurking thieves, however. At the boat dock, we had our truck broken into 5/20/19. They broke out the window and stole a handbag that was hidden in the back floorboard. I dont believe there are any security cameras within the parking area..big bummer! Other than that, great day on the lake.

Nice little campground. Only one flush toilet and its at the entrance. No showers. We use camper, but the people in tents have no where to bathe.

Had a family reunion here. Very nice area, not too busy so we could enjoy the area without a lot of interruptions. I never used the bathroom, but I smelled it from about 20 feet away.

A nice place..

This park is a great place to hike with your dogs. That being said, I have encountered numerous people walking dogs off-leash that should not be off-leash. Make sure your dog has great recall if you decide to do this. It is common courtesy to leash your dog back up as soon as youre aware of another person or someone elses pet around. There is also a gun range nearby, not a good place to find out if your dog is gun shy.

Good average camping grounds

Beautiful park! So much scenery, plenty to do for all ages. Hiking, fishing, john boating, cheap rentals for boating, open space and playground for kids, etc.

We had a great day fishing and hiking trails, its so BEAUTIFUL this time of year.

A nice park, especially considering its location in the middle of farm country. Popular fishing spot. A nice trail around the lake. As other state parks, it could use more funding for basic maintenance & cleaning... such as today when toilets in a new restroom were plugged & piled up.

Road into campgrounds needs work. Campsites need to be more level with the ground. A foot stool with your steps will probably be needed.

It had been a couple years since the last time I was there, but the restrooms have been renovated, the boat ramp upgraded the water and park were clean and its a family oriented place for cookouts and get togethers

This place is OK, not horrible but again not great. First thing is the hiking trail around the lake. Its about 5 mils or so scenic gives you access to some of the better fishing spots there.Fishing isnt bad the conditions are great for bass and catfish. But pan fish are here and they do bite if the conditions are right.What ruins this place is the facilities or the lack there of. Port-a-potties are rank and in the heat of summer my heart goes out to any woman who has to use them, I wouldnt sit on those seats.The local shops for bait are barely stocked with minnows and some times the worms are a container of mush.Over all nature keeps me coming here but the way this state park is run drives me away.

Nice, clean quiet campground. I should have done my research but it being a state park I assumed that it would have water hook up.. it doesnt. We had to pull our camper a few yards to fill up our tanks. We have a large family and our tanks dont hold enough for us to take showers all weekend. There was also no shower houses and porta pots for bathrooms. Once again I assumed and we all know that saying. The limited staff was wonderful though, very nice and helpful. I gave a lower rating because.. the address on the website is wrong. It sent my husband to the permanent campground on the other side of the lake and he had a hard time finding the state. Dragging a 33ft camper not knowing where your going in a storm is NOT FUN! Lastly as we were leaving we went to dump our tanks and the dump station was completely full, it was on the verge of coming up out of the hole.. think the movie RV.

The park has a few shelter houses to use for partys, a dock for fishing, launch for boats, bait shop, a nice hiking trail around hargus lake. There is also camping on the other side of the lake. Its a great place for family fun.

I love this lake. Fishing, boats to rent, wildlife, picnic areas, playground. Only drawback: bathrooms are outhouses.

My favorite place to go and relax. Hargus lake has always been a very peaceful place for me to go and enjoy. You can walk the 5 mile trail, go canoeing, and have cookouts and so much more. The park is very well kept and clean. Beautiful place♡

I really appreciate the upgrades to the outdoor bathrooms on both the spillway and boat ramp areas and added a walk out dock to include the picnic area.
