What an incredible museum at the top of one of the many hills in Cincy. We were there with tickets to see the Hank Willis Thomas exhibit. HWT asks us to look to the past with eyes newly focused on historical images as they relate to today’s world. Largely a photographic exhibit, other media include large murals, tapestries, sculptures, jewelry, flags, films and an interactive photography gallery. This required the viewer to use light or flash device to see hidden holographic images in the picture. What an incredibly talented and creative genius who not only makes you rethink and challenge your beliefs, but affirms that the future holds much promise.
Yall.... this place is AMAZING! A friend of mine and I went and spent HOURS here. (Got lunch too, which was also fantastic!) The amount of art crammed inside the walls will blow you away! If you are into the arts, even a little bit, then this definitely has to be a stop on your list! Highly recommend!
A beautiful museum to get away and enjoy art from all around the world. Free parking and Admission. It’s very breathtaking to see all of the wonderful pieces of work. Also, enjoy the park that surrounds the museum. You’ll find several paintings devoted to that same park and the Cincinnati area while at the museum.
I went to the FREE Thursday evening that is offered every Thursday 5 to 8. You can even see special exhibits during this time period. Due to COVID you must get a ticket online, but this was totally fine with me as it is worth being safe, keeping others safe and getting to see great art!!
Really enjoyed my visit and tour of the Hank Willis Thomas exhibit. The dynamic art installation was very necessary and beautifully placed in the heart of the museum. I loved how the staff promoted people to see the exhibit of they were in another part of the museum.
The museum was amazing, even with the restrictions for Covid-19. I think its better when there are less people because it gives a sense of peace as you go along from room to room.
First time here. Had a wonderful time spent about 2 hours and still didnt see all of the exhibits. Didnt get to see the second floor. The whole place is beautiful from the Chandelier above the welcome deck to the wallpaper of some rooms. Next time Ill plan for more than 2 hours so I can see all it has to offer.
The museum moved me in ways that created a burst of a variety of emotions. It was not just the wonderful art, beautiful sculptures or amazing displays... it is also the precision and care of the placement, the styles and selection of art in each room, and the feeling of being in a place that has wonder and magic! Thank you for a wonderful exhibition of feeling and adoration for beautiful works. The sensations of lost times and recent discoveries is absolutely breathtaking!
This is a great experience. Lots of variety in art styles and good sampling of art through history. We had lunch in the Cafe that is a very light-filled setting, including outside option. Large portions in meals makes lunch prices a good value.
Trully a wonderful time. Vast range of art (From Egyptian pieces to European to Contemporary) - The first Dalí mural in USA and a nice Van Gogh are displayed here among many other local talents. Free parking and friendly staff
Loved this museum. Admission is free but tickets must be reserved online within a specific time slot. Favorite part is the Islamic art and the Damascus Room.
Wonderful experience @ the Cincinnati Art museum, we registered online . capacity is limited admission is free
Loved the exhibit I came for. Been coming here for over 15 years! Great place to enjoy.
Its been almost 20 years since my last visit so it was like a whole new experience. It was great to lose myself in there for a few hours. I did have to wait until 2:45 to go in due to Covid protocols, which didnt give me as long as I would have liked to take in everything CAM had to offer. However, what I did get see was fantastic.
The Hank Willis Thomas experience was exactly that: An experience. It was heavy, insightful and I am so blessed to have witnessed it. The museum itself is amazing, beautiful scenery.
Plenty of excellent exhibits. Loved seeing an actual mummy! Overall, plenty of different styles of art in order to please everyone in your group! They were under construction so I was unable to see Pinocchio! Next time.
The oldest art museum in the country.Great architecture, beautiful courtyard, exquisite exhibits old & new. Saw the traveling exhibit about BURNING MAN, excellent & most informative. I love this place, a true must see of local, national & international culture.
This museum is a great place to go to. The art is always changing and there are almost always traveling exhibits. It always has a great atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming.
Amazing. I took my 3 boys ther all in elementary and they were entertained. Great exhibits and the people working there were great about telling stories and adding to the detail of the exhibits.
Nice cultural hours spent there to admire classic and contemporary paintings and art in general. Good place to enjoy.
This is a gorgeous museum. And extensive. We could not see everything we wanted to in the 6 hours we were there. We will be going back. The Cincinnati wing is a jewel. The art there is all connected in some way to the city. Generally, the artists were native or adopted Cincinnatians. The Duveneck collection is especially interesting. He was an exceptional artist of whom we were ignorant. All the collections were breath-taking. The curating is superb.
I always enjoy visiting the art museum. Especially in times like these. This is a place where you can forget about the world outside an escape to the different places in the time of the artwork.
Great art pieces and exhibits. Beautiful museum.
Beautiful and peaceful museum. Took my 4 year old daughter here recently and was happy to see the activities for kids.
I love the exhibits they show here. I love how theres inspirational quotes throughout the museum. I enjoyed getting to see art from all over and was absolutely grateful that is was free. Its always a great thing to be able to both learn and be inspired. This place is amazing and I wouldnt change a thing about it. I would definitely recommend this museum highly. Its a great and free outting with a wonderful selection of places to eat nearby . I believe they even have a cafe inside in the lobby at the very least they have an awesome gift shoppe!
Went there early morning before the museum was even open. Nevertheless, got to see the scenic view of the downtown from the hill. It is worth driving up there.
Never disappoints! We had a wonderful Saturday afternoon at the CAM. Enjoyed a beverage, took in some sights, and no one flipped out when our kid barfed on the floor. 10/10 will return, and donate, and recommend to others.
Great museum to visit during a weekend to enjoy its art collections. It count with a coffee shop and a place for kids. The entrance is free so I recommend it for the all family.
Had an amazing time viewing the Art of Burning Man this summer. Very well laid out around the entire museum. Large installations and a lot more information then I expected! Beautiful location high in the hills of Cincinnati, close to downtown and the river. Very helpful staff and decent parking lot.
Free entry to a wonder assortment of visually pleasing and interesting art. Good parking as well.
I could literally spend days here! Wonderful experience!
Always awesome to come here. Showed my son the Early Christian art and then went to the Renaissance Era art. I loved being able to do this with my Boys. After that we went on to more Modern art so he could see the progression towards that type and how it invoked a Feeling of the Image on the canvas. I showed him a Picasso and a Van Gogh and asked my son how he felt? He said confused... I told him Excellent! Thats exactly how they wanted you to feel. We also got to see some art from The Burning Man Festival. Real cool stuff to check out even if youre a Beginner like myself.
Nice size.... Not over whelming. Great presentation. Not crowded
A great museum with a wide variety of art work and exhibitions. Loved the paintings of Native Americans and western history.
Such a wide variety of art, including lots of African American artists and other diverse artists. Docents are very knowlegeable!
You have to reserve tickets for a 15 minute window in which to enter the museum. But thats easy to do on line. It was a good socially distanced time.
Vast selection of art and interactive features. Plan to spend your day browsing beautiful art.
Wonderful free visit. Highly recommended. A very nice mix of mediums.
Absolutely terrific museum, one of the best art museums that we visited all around the world. We loved European sections and it is wonderful to have the chance to visit the museum free of charge. What a great opportunity for local people and for the tourists visiting the city.
A must if your in a tourist in cinninatti. Great architecture and vibe.
My first visit to the museum was during an Art After Dark event. The museum building is stunning. The exhibits are amazing. Burning Man was incredible. Highly recommend a visit. Free admission. Only thing is no direction in the building, so I felt a little lost. Im not sure I seen the entire museum. Parking is a nightmare, so much, they recommend an Uber. Next closest parking lot, I wouldnt consider it a walking distance, its miles. Views of the city from the parking lot are incredible.
This is a great place to walk around. We took a day trip to Cincinnati and to blow some time in between things we had planned we went here and it was really nice. I would definitely recommend someone to go!
Wonderful museum filled with a rich history. Free admission... very clean...great for all ages...gift shop is quaint...hours of enjoyment...parking is free...restrooms are clean...staff is knowledgeable and helpful...a must see when visiting Cincinnati...
Im from Columbus and we have an art museum but, I like this better. To top it all off, free general admission. My whole family loved it. Definitely would make a trip back.
Great price - free! Need more comfortable places to sit!
Amazing art and sculptures. Loved it for being very 1st time at the type of museum
Wonderful museum. Staff is friendly and helpful. The Rosenthal family room is excellent for the kids. In a beautiful area just outside of downtown Cincinnati.
Good management for opening with Covid-19 precautions. Go online to reserve a (free) admissions ticket at this time. Awesome exhibit on women breaking boundaries in art. I felt the collection was eclectic and inspiring as a female. 17% of the Cincinnati Art Museums work is woman made. We are moving towards equality. One thing they could improve on is creating a better atmosphere as one family was talking so loud, you could hear them from a couple rooms away.
Enormous art museum with a wide variety of art and antiquities from around the world. Plus it is free to the public! You can easily spend a couple hours touring the various galleries. The cafe has a nice selection of food at very affordable prices.
Nice museum. Good thing to do for something to do. Cant beat the admission!!!Would recommend for something to do or a place to go.Parking is available, however may have to drive around side/back of building. Even with lot pretty much full, once you are inside it is not crowded
Went while the Burning Man exhibit was up, which was my favorite part. They also have famous artists here. With three floors of artwork and free admission, I definitely recommend going here. You could easily spend 2+ hours here depending on your likes and how much you read (which you dont have to).they also have a sit down cafe for lunch either inside or in the courtyard for reasonable prices (salads and sandwiches for $11-13).
Seriously one of the best places to visit in Cincinnati.
Easy online reservations. Wish the map gave a little more info about exhibits to make sure you dont miss favorites when short on time. Some really excellent collections.
One of my favorite places in Cincinnati. Always peaceful and relaxing. Amazing art as wellI brought my 8-year-old son for the first time last week and he loved it. I let him choose our path but also directed him to some of my favorite rooms/pieces. I look forward to bringing him back soon.
An amazing gem of an art museum!
The museum was really cool. We went to see The Burning Man exhibit! Was totally worth it!
I love the Cincinnati Art Museum. There are always fantastic exhibits, both the special ones that travel as well as the ones they keep in house. It is a beautiful building and is set in a breathtaking park with amazing views.
The Cincinnati Art Museum is absolutely beautiful and has an amazing collection of art. General admission is free, which is awesome! I highly recommend visiting this art museum!
Great collection of art. Friendly and helpful staff. The kids area was closed with COVID but they do offer a scavenger hunt on their website.
A lovely museum, a large selection of all kinds of art. Rookwood exhibit is outstanding.
Its a fantastic museum that is not over burdened with unknown artists. The space is well suited for its display. What makes this genial is the arrival to the Eden park where space is given for people to decompress. The Crohns arboretum nearby is a nice start to enjoy before the museum itself.
We visited specifically for the special exhibit but every time I visit I always leave thinking what a wonderful job the staff do keeping the museum relatively fresh on exhibits for the free portion. It was an nice way to spend the weekend (along with a short picnic at Eden park next to it) especially with no $$ spent.
Always beautiful art and some of my favorites here at the museum. Enjoyed a day with my mom and the Paris Exhibit.
Beautiful building, kind people, great location and most important amazing art work.
This museum will keep you busy and engaged with a vast amount of diverse work. The Cincinnati art museum is especially great for those who love ceramics with everything from early Chinese and Japanese works to contemporary pieces. If you plan on seeing the entire space, give yourself at least 3 hours! There is a lot to look at
We had a nice tour as part of our Mothers Day activities. The museum offers a lot of fun and learning at no cost. Im recovering from knee surgery and utilized one of their wheelchairs. I had zero issues seeing the artwork on all levels.
Great exhibitions. They offer free admission on certain days.
Just Beautiful.. No other woods.. The young woman at the front desk was very polite.. I wanted to ask her a few things, but she was just so busy.. it was very cold, windy, and a mixture of snow and rain was falling which I believe is why they got so busy. She was professional, but one person can only do so much... They did 3 lovely women working in the gift shop.. I just dont have anything bad to say.. its a beautiful place. The building is beautiful and a piece of art in itself.. The neighborhood is so unique.. would go every day if I could...
Parking is free whether around the side of the museum or at the bottom of the hill.Something important to note - CAM is HUGE. If you really wanted to see everything, you’d probably want to make a day trip of it.You’ll want to grab a map or you’ll get lost and/or miss exhibits.Exhibits vary widely from paintings, sculptures, textiles from every era and in every medium you could possibly imagine. There is something for everyone. The Ana England Kinship exhibit was my favorite, hands down.General admission is free which covers 90% of the museum. There are also ticketed exhibitions. There is a coffee counter in the main lobby and there was a lively band playing upbeat music.Lots of places to sit and take a break. I did see a kid’s area. Free WiFi was also available.
Nice space to view artwork from many different periods and artists. The Cincinnati wing is full of art related to and/or by local artist. Its a peaceful space, full of many treasures.
The only problem occurred on our way out. A couple coming in was told that they were requested to wear masks. They refused I didnt hear why but I have to say they were some of the most self-centered people Ive ever met. Youre going to go somewhere that is obviously requiring masks then dont go. Thank you for ruining my day.
Beautiful museum with lots of interesting pieces. My only issue was that it’s kind of a strange building. I had problems navigating through the different sections. Free admission though! And a little ways up the hill is a beautiful view of the river.
Beautiful and worth the visit.Cincinnatis art museum is a gem that is definitely worth a visit. First off the main exhibits are free to the public which is a plus in itself. Plan to spend a good 2-3 hours or more as there is so much to see. They do offer free tours which are very informative. They will have special exhibits thats you may have to pay extra for but I highly recommend it. The museum is located in Eden Park which is beautiful as well so after you spend an afternoon in the museum definitely check out the rest of the park while your visiting. Overall a wonderful musuem and cant recommend enough.
Very cool. History and art combine to show passion and truth.
This is a great museum and I always try to stop by when I am in town. Their permanent collection has a good amount of Impressionists paintings and one of my favorite aspects of the museum. On this visit they had en exhibition of Burning Man paraphernalia. The cafe overlooking the courtyard is a great place to have a quick bite.
Beautiful museum! I can spend hours here. Well curated. The Burning Man exhibit is amazing! And thought it has nothing to do with Art their Terrace Cafe is excellent too!! Great food!
We always love this place! We dont get to a lot of the exhibits because my kids LOVE the little studio. There are so many fun projects to do and occupy their time, even for the littlest ones. Also love that its free so I can just drop a donation without having to pay an astronomical amount. Perfect stop on a rain day!
Loved the event Art After Dark. The atmosphere is just peaceful and inspiring. The artwork is lovely and I am very excited when the Art Museum highlights diverse artists to being in more visitors.
This place really blew my mind when we visited from Columbus for the Burning Man exhibition! It was evident that these artists put a lot of thought into each piece and poured their hearts into their work. On top of that, it was free to visit! I would definitely go back again.
Wonderful installation pieces for the “Burning Man” exhibit along with unique pieces from the Museum...worth visiting!
The museum was pretty well sized, lots of beautiful classic art that you never wanna miss!
Super cool museum! Pretty area ~~ and thank you for tell me how to enjoy the painting;) I’ll comeback again~~ only gift shop is not good enough hope can change in the future
Absolutely amazing spot to spend half a day to a whole day the art pieces are in a wide variety on the history timeline and tons of different artists and styles. The admission price is absolutely free which is fantastic and the museum is massive. I did not get to spend nearly enough time here.
Theres so much interesting stuff there
Always great exhibits and events. I love this museum and it is on par with others around the world I have visited. I loved the India exibitnthey did recently and the current burning man exhibit.
The Hank Willis display was informative, captivating and it made me think.
Cincinnati you have an awesome place here. This art museum is world class! The admission is free. Their collection spans from 6000 years ago to what seems like yesterday. People this is a place you CANNOT miss. Please, I implore you to visit!
No matter how many times I come I find something new that inspires, delights or astounds me. A true Jewel!
This museum is absolutely Awesome.Beautiful building and architecture.Gorgeous location. Positive Energy throughout.AND... its full of some of the Best Art and Artists!Definitely Go! And prepare to spend some time to Enjoy your experience!
This museum is awesome! I very much appreciate my time here. I was bigger than I thought so I wasnt able to see everything that this museum had to offer so this is definitely a place to go to and spend most of your day at in order to fully appreciate it and all the paintings and artifacts thats on display here. I plan on going back soon. Its definitely worth it and its free so go take a look when you have time to kill! You wont be disappointed!
Small as Museums go.However, It wont eat up your whole day wondering around endless hallways. Exhibits are worth while and youve time to spend on the works you prefer. When specifically to see the Burning Man exhibit. Really enjoyed it.
The museum building is impressive and really a piece of art in itself. I enjoy the local art the most. Most of it is 19 and 20th century. The Rookwood pottery collection is very impressive. The Steinberg Mural for Terrace Plaza Hotel
A great museum overall. When I went the price was free, except for the special exhibits. Theres art in all different styles, from all different periods, and its not just paintings. Theres also furniture, sculpture, and pottery. The only downside is that the parking isnt the best
Loves the art! The collection was bigger than I thought it would be. If you have kids make sure they do not touch anything because security could be called on you (secretly). I hope it wasnt racial but my family was the only ones in the room. Security guard was nice and just ask my 12 and 5 year daughters to not touch the glass. Just a precaution, you might want to stay away from the east meets west room!
Wonderful museum. A must see if youre in Cincinnati. Great art exhibits and I loved the ancient Egyptian and Greek artifacts
A must see if you’re visiting Cincinnati. Such a diverse collection of art; there’s something for everyone. The people working the front desk were so kind & couldn’t have been more helpful. Parking can be hard to find, and I had to drive around a couple times before a spot opened up, but it’s worth it! Very glad to have gotten the chance to go through it.
Private tour! The Museum offers free tours of its highlights on a regular basis. My 5 friends & I were able to have a private tour because we were the only ones. It was great. The docent had a real appreciation for his subject matter. He pointed out details of the paintings that I would not have noticed otherwise. I intend to return for more!
Fun spot to enjoy fine art and kill some time.
