I have visited this shop several times and it always has a great selection of merchandise. Lots of products showcasing Chicago artists that make great gifts or something new for your home. Check out the unique greeting cards for when you need to put a pen to paper. Stop shopping online and check out this place because you won’t regret it. Service is friendly and knowledgeable too.

Great shop with a mix of gifty items and tourist-friendly Chicago mementos up front but as one moves in, there’s original art, fine art prints, photography, posters, LPs & books of varying styles to discover. Friendly staff. Don’t pass it up.

The store is small, limited, and a little overpriced. However the owner is super cool, interesting, and willing to come down on prices. He really knows about cool records and audio gear. Sold me some really nice local band records. Did not regret stopping in. Also the store has some unique Chicago merch if youre interested in that.

Amazing store with unique handmade crafts, lamps, steampunk art, and tons of Chicago themed artwork. Plus, they sell turntables, Bluetooth speakers, vinyl, greeting cards, tees, etc. I was there for an after hours comedy show. If you love shopping local, Chicago, or just looking for cool gift ideas this is a great place.

I live in the same building as Transistor and cant describe how happy it makes me to see people gathered in there for events and hear random bits of music, films, poetry and other performances from Chicagos up and coming talent as I do my laundry. Community, guys - Im into it. Ive shopped for gifts at Transistor quiet a few times. The recipients have always been happy with the quality and uniqueness, and again, I love that this shop helps facilitate local artists. Ive been to a small chain of stores in the Loop that says its a North American retailer, but I used to manage a NA gallery and recognize many of the items to be Chinese knockoffs. Transistor is legit - Ive even met a number of the artists he carries at various street shows around Chicago. I say he because Ive met the owner of Transistor and see him working the shop all the time. That kind of dedication is rare these days - as well as the humility it takes to list his staff in alphabetical order, putting himself in the middle with no special header for himself - and I applaud Andy Miles for it.
