Great entrance and dinosaur exhibit. Enjoyed learning about Wyoming history. Much larger than expected. Wish the gift shop offered more locally sourced/made items for sale.

We were staying in Cheyenne for a couple of days and decided to visit the Wyoming State museum. Admittance is free and a very nice 2 story museum covering Wyoming history. One of the first states to allow women the vote Also the location of large amounts of prehistoric fossils.Definately worth the visit

It’s not big but it covers pretty much all you need to know about the state of Wyoming. Besides, the environment is children friendly and it’s educational. Recommended for kids and adults alike.

This place is awesome. There is no entry fee and they have many hands on exhibits. There is even a room that allows children to play and touch stuff.I recommend you go just for the sandbox. There are hundred of really interesting items on exhibit. Please donate when you enter. Every dollar, quarter, dime, and penny help persevere this wonderful history. They also have dinosaur bones.

My brother and I were staying in Fort Collins for the week and decided to run up to Wyoming because we had never been there. We just happened upon the museum and really enjoyed it! There were a lot of great exhibits and a couple of cool videos. We definitely learned a lot! So glad we stopped by!

Very well put together museum. Good information and fascinating stories of Wyoming from its founding up to modern day. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Cheyenne. Overall organization of the exhibits is a bit sporadic, but each is very well done.

What a fabulous museum! A great tour through the rich history of the State of Wyoming, from prehistoric times to present. The kiddos (7, 9, 11 & 13) were fully fascinated and entertained as well. We will definitely be back to see it all again next time we’re in town!Pro tip: be sure to check out the amazing interactive topography display! Such an awesome exhibit!!

A wonderful family-friendly display of Wyoming History with an easy to follow self guided tour. Admission is FREE! Bring the kids to enjoy the hands-on learning room and the kids tour book, which includes a prize for kids who complete all of the questions.

Small but nicely curated museum, worth 90 minutes of your time, particularly since admission is free. We enjoyed the fossils, Native American artifacts and the current dinosaur art exhibit. My children liked the hands-on area.

Stopped by the day after we went on the boot tour. Very friendly greeter. Lots of cool information and artifacts on Wyoming past. Had a great interactive exhibit and beautiful displays. Free admission.

This is a FREE museum (donations accepted) that rivals any paid museum. Its a great way to gain a broad understanding of Wyomings history. Located walking distance to the state capitol and includes a detailed exhibit about the capitol, which was nice since the capitol is currently closed for renovation.

Fun and educational place to visit. Like the large display bison when you walk in to be greeted. The exhibits are interesting, and the kids love the interactive room, where you get to see, hear, smell, and touch stuff. Thats my kids favorite part. Worth a visit.

If you havent been, you need to. Definitely take the kids. The museum has lots of interesting displays for kids and adults. The store carries Wyoming products. Including That Pesky Pickle by local native Jamie Cannon!

This is a great museum. I would highly recommend for children. They have a room for life on the prairie. I took my 7 year old and he loved it! We probably spent a good hour in this portion alone. The rest of the museum was filled with important information about the state, as you would assume. This was an excellent visit.

I cant believe its been that long since we have been here. They added so much since the last time. We had other plans so we didnt have a lot of time and were only able to see the interactive room and it was neat. Fun for the whole family. The front best lady was very kind as well. We will be back again. This place is a must see!

A nice museum to visit. Some of the displays or exhibits change so there are different things to see quite regularly. The staff are friendly and helpful in finding your way around. This museum is great for kids of all ages and would highly recommend as a visit for visitors to Cheyenne or those who residents.

Lots of really neat displays including a fully renovated Yellowstone Carriage. I really enjoyed the installation on the History of the State & National parks in Wyoming. The volunteers were very helpful and obviously passionate about their history. They were even able to give us some great recommendations on locally owned places to eat and some other great places to visit including the botanical gardens and the Historical Governors Manor!

I have lived in Cheyenne for 5 years and just finally stopped into the Wyoming State Museum. Im so excited I did! We learned lots of interesting facts! The kids love the kid area, but they were also very into the displays and the interactions ( videos, smells, feeling fur ect). Super cool place and definitely recommend going!

Great collection of information and visual displays for all ages. The museum is two floors and covers anything from Native Americans local to Wyoming to dinosaurs and how mining works. A map was provided by the staff to make it easier to find things of interest. I would definitely recommend this museum to learn more about the state. Good for families too.

It was a really interesting museum to check out. There were a lot of cool guns from the western days, as well as a lot of Wyoming knowledge in general. Id definitely check it out if you have any interest in those kinds of things.

Plan some decent time as there is a lot of really amazing information in the museum.Also the Museum Store is a great place to find Wyoming made items and Wyoming products! A great selection of food items, kids items, books(both childrens and adults), and one of a kind Wyoming products!

Very interesting place a little bit of everything. Native American artifacts, railroad stuff, military uniforms, guns, state history, laid out in a room large enough so you can meander and give each exhibit its due. 2hrs well spent the state house exhibit will shock you sweat 150,000 dollars bought in their 1800s.

Free entry!!! Wow, what a great museum that has a little bit of everything about Wyoming history! Their childrens hands on area is very neat! Please note its cold inside the museum in order to preserve artifacts. Dress warmly if you get cold easily!

My kids loved this place. There was even a man at the desk as soon as you walk in to your right he told use the best way to Go through the museum And some history of the museum.+ The man at the desk had a worksheet for kids to find stuff around the museum.
