My wife and I go here all the time. The grounds are always clean. Great areas to fish. Booker T is a great place to walk for exercise or just sit my the water and enjoy some beautiful sunsets. One of the best bike paths in Chattanooga. So if youre looking for a place to chill and learn some history about area and Bookert T Washington please visit and enjoy.
Basketball and sightseeing time in the brisk fresh cool air; time to buy or make a fishing pole. First you must get a fishing license so...This is a historic and well maintained park. A beautiful park for photographers. I may need to initiate a road clean-up program. Along the way to the park, liter is too much. Have a positive 2020!
Beautiful park, great scenery, and nice fishing area. Needs a little remodeling bc the deck area wood is getting old. The river is relaxing and nature animals are present.
Nice park. Rangers are nice. Would give it 5 stars but they need a disc golf course.
Nice little park, did some mountain biking. I suggest riding the trails counter clockwise. I do not like that there is swimming from shore.
Wife and i love taking some carry-out and using the tables and just enjoy time by the lake, or up in the woods there are more.. great park.. love it
The extensive hiking trails are great for cruising on a bicycle. Plus the extensive amount of distance and number of trails keeps it fresh
Its such a well maintained park. Safe. Beautiful. Great place to paddle or fish. Biking and running trails. Playground for kids. Clean restrooms. It doesnt have a beach for swimming though. The pool is closed this year due to Covid. Hope it opens next summer.
Great place to have a pinch, go on an adventure, play at the park and just relax.
A very peaceful and relaxing place
Great hiking trails for an autumn. Lots of lovely scenery and varied terrain. Moderate difficulty on the trails.
A peaceful lake setting with recreational facilities and restrooms easily accessed.
Is usually quiet. Has nice picnic area and pavilion. Decent fishing on warm days. Offers a few short trails for hiking. I have never been in the pool, so I make no comment of the quality. Rest rooms at park. Boat dock. Playground for children.
Great view for a picnic lunch.
This past Saturday, June 2nd 2018 my family and I decided to check this park out after a morning church function based on others reviews and arrived so we arrived ready to do a picnic. First time in the park so we decided to drive around to get acquainted with it. We found the amount of pavilions and picnic tables limited (compared to Harrison Bay State Park just up the road). The picnic tables exposed to the elements seemed they could use some care. The pool seem to be going through some construction and it is currently closed. The benches placed on the lakefront areas seem new and well cared for. Seems fishing from this park would be good. We wanted to do some swimming in the lake after the picnic but we didnt see any place attractive enough to do so. Just before exiting the park we saw the park had an area for camping and decided to check it out. I guess we was distracted looking around that we missed the signed that said DO NOT ENTER so a park ranger came after us. The ranger was courteous and professional. He allowed us to circle around and reiterated that we was in a restricted area. Three other vehicles did the same after us so we didnt feel so bad. I feel a gate in addition to the sign would be more appropriate. At this point I would recommend Harrison Bay and Chester Frost state parks.
I LOVE Booker T. Everyone peaceful and respectful. Almost neighborly. My family enjoyed the park and the views.
Gorgeous outdoor area. The docks are built well, and the fishing is great. Even the hiking trail is wonderful!
Looking for a cheap cost only for pool, or even better free great place to take your kids or just yourself and some friends for that much deserved outdoor / scenic time. Located on the lake, walk out on the dock and put your feet in the water, go fishing, go swimming in the pool, play on the playground. Great views, mini different options for activities for kids of all ages. Easily accessible, no charge to access, or park, boat dock available, all no charge, like I said only charge would be for swimming in the very nice large pool.
Very nice, relaxing area. Great view and tons of space for fishing / boating (also cheap rates on pavilions).
Ever since I was a kid, its a great place for picnics and fishing.
Beautiful park to take pictures!
Fishing, jogging, walking, quiet. Love it.
Beautiful and peaceful. It was truly a breath of fresh air.
Very beautiful, well maintained, relaxing place. You can do Canoeing here, just need to prebook.
Quiet, good fishing spots for newbies, basic structural elements are unfortunately old and run-down
AWESOME Park. Great Views. Beautiful atmosphere
The lake view is
Beautiful park! I love it.
Good family place and wild life watching
We spent a fun time with the friends..! Park was amazing !! Canoe lessons with Thomas was a great experience...!!
Peaceful,clean park with nice amenities.
I grew up in this park!
Great place to walk the dogs and drop in the jetski.
Decent park, with beautiful views of the lake. My only complaint is that the park is need of some repairs. The picnic tables are dirty and some are falling apart. Those could definitely use some attention. The playground equipment appears to be in good working order, and so are the latrines.
The fish were not biting today but the park was beautiful.
Nice park ......well maintained.
Nice fishing area! Play grounds and pools for the kids! Pavillions for parties! Hiking trails!Very nice place!!!
Great little State Park with plenty to offer. Nice walking/biking trails, picnic areas, swimming pool, fishing docks, and even a boat ramp.
Great little park with 2 separate playgrounds, a pool and a pier. The grounds and trails are well taken care of, the park staff is alert and friendly.
Great place to go to get stuff off your mind
Wonderful place. Great hiking. Geocaching.
Nice small park. Hiking trails are very rough.
I do way marking, and Geo cashing, here in Manchester, TN.There State Parks, are worth the Trip, you can camp there, fish, hike, or just sit and enjoy the Day. All the parks are worth yourDay or weekend trip. Come on out and. Enjoy the camp fire at night roast some marshmellows
The view out here is amazing. Theres a playground right by the river and some benches where you can just sit and look at the water. Theres also a basketball court by the playground.Fishing is also good out here.
Field trip was excellent. Park rangers wonderful, professionals, extremely knowledgeable.
Beautiful, spacious site. The park rangers were very couteous and responsible when it came to taking care of the grounds. They also did a great job with the tour via canoe rides and talking with kids educating them about birds and other animals. They also did a great job playing inventive games.
Nice state park with lake access. There are fishing piers, bike trails, swimming pool and much more.
This place is beautiful! I went to catch a sunset. I looked up a park close by and this one came up. I was not disappointed at all! I took some amazing photos. It was so calm and peaceful. Theres a sink on the dock for fisherman, boat ramp, plethora of playgrounds, picnic tables with grills, trails, beautiful views of the river and mountains. Ill definitely be going back when everything in full bloom!️
Fishing was awful. Ranger had to be called on one guy. Terrible
Its a small uncrowded Park with some nature trails and mountain bike trails and fishing areas.
3 . no overnight camping. No park store. No overnight fishing. Sad but beautiful park. Well maintained.
Great for water activities, fishing, walking, hiking, basketball...
The nature trail is very nice.
A relaxing and surprisingly packed park. Pool, fishing, boating, hiking, etc
Picnic on our anniversary? Peaceful.
Beautiful place to spend the day fishing or just with the family. I will be back many times.
Very peaceful, very beautiful.
Great place to enjoy nature.
Nice place to spend evening
Great scenic views
Clean, family oriented environment.
This is a great place for trail running.
First time at park really nice
They have an owl and a hawk Xzibit
Easily accessible place to get some fishing done from the docks. Typically not too crowded, always pretty good vibes with the other fishermen. The trails are pretty nice too for a quick jaunt. The trail system is plenty long for a nice walk thatll keep you near the water for a decent portion. Nothing grueling, but great for the family or just a place to get out of the house and walk about in nature for a little while.
Its a beautiful place with lots of nature to see and a great place to fish with 2 docks and a clean bathroom.
I stopped by for a quick hike on a Saturday afternoon and fell in love with this hidden gem. I have returned a few times since then. The rangers at the station are always friendly. On the first visit one ranger did an amazing job at giving me a history lesson concerning the reasoning behind why this beautiful park was built. This park offers swimming at a pool during the summer season. The rangers do several guided hikes throughout the year, including an annual Black Friday hike.
Good family park
Ive only been here for SCA events but the staff is awesome. The site is well kept, with an amazing kitchen in the large hall (which also has a lot of room and wonderful AC), and the amenities are well maintained.
Very nice place
Its a very nice laid back park, but it needs to be upgraded. The tables and chair are old and rotten. It needs pressure washing, spider webs removal. NEEDS REPAIRS DESPERATELY
Park is nice for hanging out with the kids, walking, fishing or a little picnic but some of the facilities are showing their age.
Great mountain bike trails. Not too complicated. Fun to ride. There is also a great pool there
Great place to go fishing, have a cook out, kids can play in the playground.
We went for just an afternoon walk and it was great. Not too crowded. No one bothered us, everyone minded their own business. We will be going back.
Nice park with playgrounds. Hike/ bike trail. Dog friendly. Good place for fishing or boating on the bay. Picnic pavilions, swimming pool and basket ball court
Beautiful park on the lake. Plenty of picnic tables with grills. The trails are multi use for biking and hiking. Pavilion can be rented for parties. Swimming pool available in season. Fishing pier, boat launch, and restrooms.
My family goes here a few times in the summer to launch our boat. Very well maintained and has a bigger ramp. ( Im still learning how to do it so there isnt pressure to get it off and on majority of the time)
Its a great place to fish from the covered docks or from the bank, or hiking the trails, riding bicycles, to walking, its got a great boat ramp & plenty of picnic tables & benches to a childrens play ground!
Pavilion was clean including the grill and accommodating for my family. Will rent again. Thank you.
Great mountain bike trail
Great place to bring the kids swimming. Lifeguards on duty and extremely affordable
Today Ive decided to give the park a one star review Id give half if I could. Now usually my family and I would have the grandest time, having fun enjoying the nature and natural beauty of the park collecting rocks ever so often. But today was less than fun,we showed up to do the usual our favorite hobbie collecting rocks no harm done. We are aware of the law of collecting things but we cant sell them,we never intended to anyways. About 15 mins in of collecting rocks we get stopped by a ranger of some sort telling us we cant take anything off the property. Now out of curiosity we asked the question of why? He made the generic excuse of for educational purposes. Now granted I respect the law and the officers but what if I too was using the rocks for educational purposes. It simply wasnt that simple,oh no. Of course we werent the only family there planning to have a fun day at our favorite spot,a group of well to do folk were there also which brings me to the conclusion of they had made a call to the ranger because we were an eye sore to them.
Very nice, clean park to hang out or fui some fishing. Several small, covered piers to fish from and lots of picnic tables and grills. There is a pool, but nowhere to swim in the lake and no overnight camping except for pre arranged groups. Definitely a 5 star park if not for those 2 issues.
Beautiful park. We had our family reunion here and everyone enjoyed visiting.
Nice quiet place. Had the park ranger who brought local birds and gave information on them. Was very nice.
Fun and clean park
Vast array of hiking trails, picnic areas and playscapes. A giant, clean pool overlooking the forest and plenty of access to fishing and boating docks. Free to the public and clean as can be!
Had a great time
Very pretty
Very nice and very cleaned park. I had a good time
Beautiful water. Only down is it closed after sundown
Park Staff was very friendly and professional. Beautiful area. Will be back with my family.
Very big nice playground for kids love the swimming pool restroom was clean
Great hiking trails, not over- crowded. Some good swimming holes!
Quiet, peaceful, beautiful. Great place to meditate and play.
