Great venue on the mall in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. The Jefferson is a good size venue that still feels intimate and allows fans to catch decent-sized acts in a smaller venue. The acoustics in this hall are great. There are bars and bathrooms on both floors of the venue, which makes it very convenient. Located to the side of the theater is a grill that allows you to get tacos and burritos before the show, without having to leave the venue.
Love to go to Tge Jefferson for Venues! It is always a great time. It seems to have a 1940s feel. Great ambiance!
Well...I loved the architecture of the old theater building. We saw (and heard) two musical groups on Friday night Nov. first. The staff was very professional and friendly. They were security folks wearing staff emblazoned shirts which was nice. With all the insanity going on in public places I didnt mind doing the whole airport security thing with the metal detectors. Seriously, there were hundreds of people there and I felt safe and relaxed.During intermissions the walking mall was a wonderful place to get fresh air and chat up strangers about the show. They had a bartender working, and there is a taco restaurant next door. The tacos were made with cubed meat and were tasty enough. The bottled water from the bartender was $2.00...and cold...and...well shucks, it was water....
We went to see Jordan Davis.. Beautiful theater.. And Great Concert. We sat Comfortably upstairs in the Balcony
Great medium sized venue. Historic and generally more relaxed than larger venues(a refreshing experience).
One of the best places in Charlottesville to catch a band. The Guys working the door /security are very cool. Do their jobs, but still nice.
The bands was wonderful henna places beautiful I had a great time first time there it will not be my last
Smaller, intimate venue. Get there early if you want a seat during a show. No coat check. Leave stuff in your car, so you can jam at the front of the stage and not hold jackets and purses, just your
Seriously one of the best venues. As a short person, the sloped floor ensures that I can almost always see over the people in front of me!
Great space. Atmosphere was awesome! Cheap Whiskey and Cody Purvis were a blast!
The show was great! The staff was AWESOME! They are polite and thoughtful and made the experience even better!
Went to see Coheed and Cambria here in October and it was AMAZING! The sloped floor is a little hard on the knees for people with leg and back issues but makes for better viewing. The street outside has a lot of little shops and restaurants, which was nice to walk around in before the show. Nice venue, I had a lot of fun.
Juat left the legwarmers shows it was great, and the Jefferson theater was a great place for it!.. good amount of standing room, and seats up top for a break
Nice intimate place to see a show. Beer selection is very good as well.
It is a good place to see music. The crowd can be annoyingly talky, but I think that might be everywhere. Check out the two balconies for seats and a chiller vibe
Great spot!!! Waiting on local acts like Modern Medication, LaQuinn and a couple more to do a show there. Caught all kinds of mesmerizing acts there. Love Groove Train, Tania Ray n more
I can here for the Kishi Bashi concert, and it was a lovely venue. The staff is friendly and the building is absolutely gorgeous as well as functional. I highly recommend coming to one of the events!
The Jefferson is in a wonderful location, with a small authentic Mexican taqueria next door, that stays open until the show is over, and is attached for quick, easy access from the theater.
Had the wonderful opportunity to see Mac Powell And The Family Reunion at the Jefferson Theater in downtown Charlottesville. The venue was fantastic. They have a wheelchair lift so all three levels are accessible. The staff were super friendly. I would definitely go back for any event they had.
Had a great time at the @carbonleaf show. Cant wait for the next show!
Either the bar is very poorly run, or they are running a scam. The venue is nice. However, we bought the cheaper drinks, and they were terrible, so we tossed them, and bought more expensive drinks. Not bad. Get the check, and were over charged for the original two drinks.I bring this to the bar tenders attention, and he tells me I must have been misinformed. I ask him to get the bar tender that gave me the wrong price to clear things up, and he tells me it doesnt matter, hes the manager, the guy misspoke, and thats the price. This was atrocious customer service, and the manager treated ME as if I was some how in the wrong. Will never return to this venue, and recommend noone else go, either
Beautiful, historic venue with a great setup. Awesome place to see a show
Intimate, great performers come here. Anywhere is the best seat in the house.
One of my favorite venues.Nowz time to see:Ruckus da BulldogHarley and the House of JupiterStrictly BusinessChronic RoyaleTarrareChuggernautsGhost LogicMedicinal Dreamsand more there
This is a great venue! Ive been here as both audience and performer and its been great all around. When you go be sure to get some tacos at cinema taco!!
This is an amazing venue. I attended a party here. The music was great, the bartender made great drinks. You should definitely try to catch your favorite band or party at the Jefferson.
I came here for a couple of shows. This is a big theater for life music concerts. They have two areas: a lounge close to the bar with tables and stools. The other one in front of the stage. The sound is great. Restrooms are clean. I found very friendly people here and the beers are reasonable.
Probably one of my favorite venues of all time...always a great place to see a favorite act. The sound is great and the space is fun.
I enjoyed seeing Brett Dennen at the Jefferson. The venue is really cool. The decor is old style theater house, I am sure all fairly original. One strange feature is the standing area in front of the stage still being on a slope like it would have been for the row seating. The bar was well stocked with craft beers at a fairly reasonable price for a music venue. Would like to check out more acts there.
My first visit was a good one. A fun venue to watch a band play. The floor was at a good angle and the staff was polite and moved the crowd in quickly. The acoustics were good and the sound system highlighted the live band well. Id recommend it for a show when in Charlottesville.
What an excellent music venue! I saw Big Business with Sleep as my first time here. The sloped floor is awesome since you dont have to worry about getting stuck behind tall people, or blocking someones view behind you, the bar is expensive, but not grossly overpriced like some other venues, and the acoustics inside are really good. Quite a variety of acts that come through too. And being right in the middle of the mall is perfect for before and after show festivities
Great place to hear local music!
Went to see a show here this past weekend! The theater was clean, the staff was friendly and best of all it was extremely affordable! Will return if I’m in Virginia again!
We participated in a Tom Tom festival event at the Jefferson - it was interesting to see chairs on the main floor. The place is always looking good, and the history is incredible. Great venue.
Ive been here on countless occasions seeing many different artist and it gets better every single time. Out of the 40+ concerts Ive been to in my day this by far is one of my favorite venues to go see them. The sound is so full, and the people are helpful. Trust me it is well worth the price of admission.
Cody purvis and Cheap Whiskey was great
Amazing. Ruckus the bulldog is incredible
Perfectly compact venue where you are oh so close to the band!
Awesome concert venue, very comfy feel and multiple bathrooms on multiple levels for ease of use and viewing the shows. Reasonable beer pricing and food nearby. Been going for years and will continue for as many as i can.
Great place to see any live music. Acoustics are great. Floor is sloped so most get a good view. Double balcony seating as well.
Great acoustics and easy to get to the bar. Nice venue.
Great place to catch a show seating is limited so get there early. This was a grand old building and is showing its age. So much nicer than the boxes many venues are now.
Great venue for live music, with two balconies if you need seats. Used to be a fancy cinema but now its a beautiful concert hall or playhouse. Delicious empanadas and burritos are available in conjoined restaurant.
This is one of the most beautiful theaters in the area. The balconies are awesome. The staff is super friendly. And they always do their best to bring a good quality show into town. Cant wait to see the next show there.
There is standing room or you can sit on one of two balconies. Even at a sold out show, there are enough bathrooms that there isnt much of a wait. Bring ear plugs though. It is so loud that a good amount of people have them. You wont look weird. Also, beautiful venue.
Never disappoints! Great bartenders!!
Beautiful small venue (600 person capacity). Still retains much of its original details. Standing on the first floor and seating in the balcony.
Super intimate venue, one of my favorites.
What a quaint theater, perfect for a date night.
Steep Canyon Rangers and David Wax Museum were fabulous. I do wish The Jefferson would offer some reserved seats and I do wish that the crowd would be a bit quieter during the show.
Saw Houndmouth here. Awesome venue, and the floor slopes up so its short people friendly. Beers are $6-7 each, which Id say is about average. Theres extra bathrooms downstairs and an extra bar as well. Id say its similar in size to the 9:30 Club and the Norva, maybe a bit smaller but not by a lot. Overall a great venue!
Love this venu! Its like a smaller version of the national in Richmond. Has a good beer selection as well.
This place is great. The people running the show have the players in place. Killer bands come here attracting people from near and far away. Love the sloped floor and duel bar set up. The upstairs seating is a cool perk to the experience.
You cant find many venues over a hundred years old with such an incredible experience. If one of your favorite musical Acts is scheduled at the Jefferson, youve got to see them here!!
Looks like a great show venue
Great fun! Wonderful band (Trees on Fire * Wiskey and camomile). Decent variety of drinks available. I had the ginger cider, which was good.
Beautifully renovated depression era theater in the center of Charlottesvilles Old Town Walking Mall.(which is, in and of itself, unsurpassed anywhere in the State;Really you have to check it out). Great acoustics with a raised area in the back with tables, theater seating in an upper balcony, and more than ample floor space in front of the stage for those who want to be front and center. This is a premier concert venue. The staff is friendly, helpful and incredibly accommodating. (My Daughter mentioned how much she would like to have a poster from the show we attended. Between acts, one of the staff tracked us down and gave her one). If you find that an artist you want to see us performing here, dont hesitate. Go!Oh, and they have a build your own Taco stand connected to the venue that is fantastic.
The Carbon Leaf concert there was amazing!
Fantastic theater. Very comfortable and beautiful. Full service bar and even food. I am no acoustic expert but the sound was really great. A beautiful evening.
Great place to see a show! Has a big feel while still being intimate.
Great place for a show like The Steel Wheels. Only draw back is the limited seating. However once TSW start rolling, sitting is less of an issue.
Great local theater with a lot to offer with a great variety of performances to select from.
Vert nice had fun
Always a good time.
Awesome venue. Good acoustics. But why are there are no seat numbers on the permanent seats?Everyone gets confused...
We have been to the Jefferson on numerous occasions and always have a good time without any issues. The sound is great, the drinks are great. If you choose to sit upstairs, be mindful that the leg room is tight, but you do have plenty of places to stand if seating becomes uncomfortable.
Great venue. A bartender or two seemed to have attitudes but that shouldnt reflect on the overall review of the place.
Great venue, but too many people talking during the show
Nice place to see a show. Good seats in the balcony and floor has good access. I had to take a dump really bad but, you have to go downstairs for that. The upstairs bathroom has a toilet with no doors. Although I am real man and can grow a tail while making eye contact that might creep some folks out. But downstairs they have a nice spacious stall to spread and drop massive logs. I really had a good growler.
The Jefferson is an awesome venue. Great size. Great layout. Great music. Good stuff on tap.
One of the most surprisingly affordable venues on the East Coast in consideration of the volume of quality talent they host. Staff and security has been most pleasurable to interact with and needs of the crowd have been handled seamlessly. Policies on checked coats have changed recently as have what temperament of guest theyre willing to tolerate. Theyre sturdy.
Great venue, awesome acoustics!
Great Music Venue in Great Town!
Slanting floor toward the stage so you can see from virtually anywhere on the ground floor as long as no one is blocking your view directly in front of you. Has a couple wall outlets that saved my phones life. Staff kind of hurried us out of the venue as soon as the show finished, which Im not used to with smaller venues (usually they let you linger). Box office guys was super understanding when I forgot to print my ticket and it wouldnt load on my phone (gave him the email confirmation #). No free wifi.
Experienced a Dark Star Orchestra concert there. Th acoustics are great. Orchestra level is seating free which makes it great for dancing and milling around.
Love this place! Exoensive beer though
Loved the venue.
Great venue with a stadium style floor so everyone has a good view of the stage.
Super accessible venue. Bars were plentiful inside. Sloped floor in the pit was perfect. Had a great time.
Terrible security! Do NOT go here!We went to see a concert on our honeymoon. We paid for premium tickets in the seating section. We spent the first half of the show trying to hear over the people behind us. They then started bumping and hitting us in the back. We asked them to stop, and by this point several other groups were turning around to glare at this group. Security was nowhere to be found at all. We put up with a bit more, but when the drunken screaming started to include spitting, we had to leave. Others next to us that also paid more for seats had left before us. We hoped our first night out as a married couple would be, at the very least, pleasant. Unfortunately we went to the Jefferson and suffered nothing but disappointment. On the way out, we saw four security guys hanging out by the door. I wish they actually had been watching what I paid them to watch. I will never again go there and would suggest you do not either. Youll just waste your money.
Its a great theater. I dont know why anyone would consult Google reviews for live theater rather than judge shows individually, but this is a particularly good venue.
Saw Andy Grammer here about 2 months ago, such a nice smaller venue, definitely will be visiting again!
I remember when I saw the last movie played here before it became a music venue circa early 2000s...Ghostbusters (not the original release date but the original version). I was thoroughly entertained by the rats playing on the stage during the film! Classic!
A great place to go see a concert just beware if youre close to the stage from the people pushing. But some great lives shows at great prices.
The Jefferson always puts on a great show in a great venue. There is a standing room floor where you can get close to any opening act and a seating area above if youre only there to sit and watch the act.
