Another Five Star day on East Beach. Great fishing day. Lots of activity for site-seaers Plenty of parking still in spite of the crowd of vehicles...theyre mostly on the beach. Caught site of a lone Seal near us close to shore. This is going to be a monthly trek for us this winter. Too wonderful to miss. Fresh air.
I have an off road sand trail permit for my four wheel drive Explorer. It is a three mile trail with parking limited to thirty cars. Due to the covid they are allowing forty or more cars in those extra parking spaces. After the fifthteenth of September you can drive on the beach and park at your favorite spot. It is very convenient to just unload you things rite outside your vehicle and set up your beach camp.
Love the simplicity of this beach. Went at an off season time but gorgeous day and even though there were a lot of people taking advantage of a November beach day, we still had plenty of room to play beach bocce!!
I must say it doesnt get any better than a visit to East Beach, RI when the wind is blowing. Absolutely beautiful for pictures. Ive been here in the summer and parking is the big issue. The beach is one of the best in New England. If you get hungry, the Cooked Goose is a short ride from here, its a nice spot to enjoy a great menu and great service.
Beautiful New England beach with great bathrooms! The composting bathrooms (white buildings) are so clean and tidy. They also have standard port-a-potties that were very clean as well. The beach was lovely. Parking was INSANE! We arrived on a warm Saturday morning at 9am (parking opens at 8:30am) and it was already full! We had to park about a mile away and walk. When you can park there, the parking costs are under $15. They also have a life guard on duty for a portion of the beach.
I LOVE East beach. Weve been going there for YEARS because its just the best. NEVER overcrowded, always clean. Totally worth the 2 hour drive from my home and having to get up REALLY early in the morning
Nice soft sand. Water was warm with some good waves. Had a blast. If you choose to wear a mask to the beach remember to take them with you. Found some discarded masks left behind :(
We enjoy coming to this beach. Tranquil and not over crowded the majority of the time. Parking is limited.
My new favorite RI beach for views, soft sand, no crowding, and peace/quiet. The small parking lot means plenty of room for folks to spread out on the beach.
Great beach!! no rocks and small waves. bring food and drinks. no food vendors around.
Pristine Beach. 4 wheel drive.
Best beach everSo much room to walk and enjoy without tripping over peopleBeen coming here for years since I was a teenagerYou can walk for miles and wont run into a ton of peopleAbsolutely a slice of heaven
Great Beach 30 bucks to park for us out of staters.Huge waves so do not recomend for kids very strong undertow.Better then Scarborough though people are not crammed on beach like sardines.
Being a former local, this is my favorite beach for its soft sand and relatively smaller crowds. The only con is the shore break is super close to the beach, so you cant really body surf.
Clean & bit less crowded, small parking lot ... Beautiful
Great beach to go to just dont like or understand how the price for parking isnt always the same
Is really nice and I relax all day
Beautiful, secluded, romantic, peaceful, meditative. A soulful reflective spot to catch your breath and recharge.
Absolutely beautiful beach!
Very nice beach but the parking is very limited
The beach is only open to Season Pass holders but thats not publicized on Google or their website. Buy a Season Pass or your not getting in. Disappointed that I drove there from Warwick on a hot afternoon. Waited in a long line at the gate and only found out when I got to the pay station. Bummer... Just advertise it!!!
Great place to enjoy the surf and then kayak in the pond.
This has got to be the best speech we have gone to in Rhode Island. It was recommended to us by friends in Providence where we just moved a month ago. It is really clean and doesnt get too busy. They have glorified porta potties that are better than some other places but are not actually bathrooms. You have to pick up your own trash so bring plastic bags to put your trash and cuz you cant leave it there. The water is clear and beautiful but there is some seaweed around. Luckily the sand is nice and soft not too many pebbles or rocks.
Ive been coming to this beach since I was a baby. Its always clean, fun and a wonderful place to walk and lay down. The waves can get a little rough when the tide comes in. A great beach!
It was so beautiful. Crashing waves. Beautiful scenery. Just great place to get away for the day
Nice, clean, wide and scenic.
Awesome family friendly beach
Beautiful beach. Plenty of space. Nice sand and clear water. Nice waves but be careful of the undertow. Parking cost $20
As a visitor my day absolutely wonderful. I would love to go again before I go home but I dont think its gonna happen. The water was wonderful and everything about it was totally relaxing ..I couldnt say enough about the staff because we came in just to look at the beach and it just happened that someone was pulling out.ONE of the staff said can you take this spot. it was amazing I loved it thank you so much thank you Rhode Island..
Terrible dont go. Stay away.
Almost dont want to leave a good review because its such an amazing spot. I got there at 8 AM on a weekday and the lot wasnt too full yet. The lot can fit maybe 80 cars so the beach never gets too crowded. Great swimming and a beautiful clean beach. There are composting toilets and free sun screen dispensers.
Best natural beach in RI, no house, Atlantic on the South and Ninigret salt pond on the North.
Clean, not crowded and only $12 out of state admission!
Great, end of the road, good wavese
Just experienced driving along East Beach. Unfortunately at this time of the year you are not allowed to drive on the beach. There are areas you can park close to the beach within walking distance however you need to get there early to get one. Also buy a good portable tire inflator. It is still worth buying the permit.
Great beach, limited parking and many people dont walk down from the town beach, so you can find a stretch with fewer people. Late summer is a nice time to go.
Beautiful in the am
Hashelyn and Naileigha
Nice, clean beach. There was plenty of parking and its mid-late July. Parking cost $6 in state $12 out of state. There is a sand trail available to drive on but you need a permit for it and its only open seasonally. The swimming are is restricted sometimes even though the beach is pretty large.
One of my favorites
The perfect northeast sandy beach - classic long grasses blending into fine sand, uninterrupted for miles and rustic. If you want an old fashioned family beach excursion you can’t do better than east / west beach in Charlestown. We’ve been to sooooo many beaches and this one and Middle beach outside Newport are the tied for the best! This one is easier and quieter, though.Limited (but well maintained) seasonal facilities include life guards, designated parking and wood slatted (not port a potty) rest rooms. There is no food service and I’ve not seen any place to rent little boats. It’s just a gorgeous, huge sandy beach.
Large beach small parking lot, come early, the beach never gets blanket to blanket busy. Water can be a little rough and the currents are strong but over all its an amazing beach!
Love! Cant beat it!
One of the best beaches in Rhode Island. Get there early;the small parking lot fills up quickly.
Shhhhh. Keep this place quiet. I like this beach to much
Nice, clean, no riff raff. Have to pay to park and parking is limited, so get there early (by 730). Bathrooms, but no running water or showers. Great family fun!
Water is beautiful! No trash! Everyone is friendly and respectful. No cost to park.
Wonderful location. Limited parking.
We went in the evening just for a walk along the beach and it was beautiful!
Private and quiet beach. Love it there all the time.
Quiet. Waves were good. Lifeguards present. Not overcrowded.
Love this beach. Miles of beauty. Small parking lot so it doesnt get crowded! Arrive before 8 am and youll be one of the lucky ones to get a spot. Beautiful scenery. Pine trees & the ocean!!
Not crowded, beautiful, quite
JELLYFISH! JELLYFISH EVERYWHERE! We went to the salt pond side. Dont. There are millions of stinging jellyfish. The water was nice and warm and my balls didnt shrink into my body. But the damn jellyfish. Not worth it. Not even once.
Great dog beach once the crowds thin in the fall
Absolutely wonderful
Went sea glass hunting. Was not disappointed!
Probably the best beach in New England. Very small parking lot, so if you get in its like winning the lottery. It feels like a tropical island. Not crowded (trade off for a small parking lot). Huge waves. Gradual water entry. Limited bathrooms. No showers. Overall amazing beach, a must visit!!!
When I think of a beach, this is exactly what I think of. It can get pretty crowded, but its the best public beach that weve been able to find. Also, LIFE GAURDS! Always a plus lol.
Best beach in the area! Well worth the drive from Hartford area! No noisy bars or restaurants...just miles of clean, open beach perfect for the family! Decent surf too! Great for the family...get here early as the tiny lot fills up fast!
Bill and I had a awesome time at the beach! Thank you so much Aunt Jan and Uncle Richy! got my zen back! Cant wait for the next time.
Quiet public beach with great wave action. Get there early. Limited parking.
Awesome beach. Doesnt get overcrowded. Nice & clean.
Great waves make for a fun time on a not too crowded beach
My favorite beach in Rhode island so clean and not crowded
Great clean beach. $7 parking. The driveway to the parking is unbelievably bad. Like most of the roads in Rhode island.
Part of the ocean, waves were a monster
Very quiet and not packed even On 4th of July. Good water with intermediate waves.
Great beach, crystal clear water. Great waves under toe can be rough at times
Nice beach - but $30 entrance fee sounds too much
Perfect sand waves and water!
