I really enjoy visiting the City Gallery at Waterfront Park. They have a well curated art gallery with a rotating series of exhibits that are always worth a visit. This is a great place to visit at no cost and get some art and culture. They also have a good place to cool off and use the restroom on when you are visiting Waterfront Park. I have always had a really good experience here and look forward to seeing each new exhibit as it is revealed. I like that this gallery exists and all of the work that they have done throughout the years.
Went to see We the People by Mary Whyte. 50 portraits of 50 veterans one for each state. Really awesome exhibit. Well worth the visit (& it is free). My wife drags me to these galleries & normally I just go along for the ride. This one did touch my heart. From an astronaut to a homeless vet, I cant think of a better way to honor all veterans. This was not sappy - it was about the men & women & where they are now. Plus the artwork & portraiture was excellent. The City Gallery is a great space to show this kind of art
A free art indulgence right on downtown waterfront. I went to see veterans exhibition of Mary Whyte watercolors. Unbelievable. 50 large scale renderings of veterans from each state. The gallery shows them off splendidly. Get here before December 22 when the paintings move out of South Carolina.
Loved the exhibit of Mary Whyte work! Good showing. Like the view out the park side. The building is utilitarian.
Beautiful collection of paintings on display right now (free entry). Definitely worth a visit!
Visited the Southbound exhibit here today. They were late opening but other than that I enjoyed the visit. The exhibit changes but the venue is very nice and clean. The second floor overlooks the waterfront park walk and has a beautiful view. The staff is friendly and they have clean bathrooms.
Fantastic lighting. We the People is an amazing exhibition
Loved the exhibit and the building and surrounding area is beautiful.

Sensational gallery. Thank you Charleston!
The artist on display was world class!
Good place to duck into when the weather wasnt so inviting! Its great to look at interesting pieces of Art!
Nice gallery showcasing local artists. Building is on the waterfront across from the pineapple fountain. My curiosity got the best of me, so I climbed the steps and began exploring. Staff is super chill. The art exhibits vary in medium- photography, paintings, sculpture, plant and object arrangement. Its very neat and FREE! Closes at 5 PM.
Enjoyed the gallery & the 50 paintings.
Very nice intimate gallery
I love this spot on the water and we were the only people in the gallery on a rainy day. South bound was a wonderful exhibit.
Give yourself a gift, visit Mary White exhibit now.
Pretty facility, but poorly utilized with a limited number of displays.
Free, beautiful gallery in the heart of downtown Charleston!
Dont miss the current exhibit, We the People, Mary Whytes brilliant tribute to Americas veterans!
One of the few places to find innovative exhibits in Charleston. Getting gallery information requires some sleuthing. For example, their exhibits page hasnt been updated since an exhibit that ended over four months ago and doesnt mention the current exhibit, although current information can be found elsewhere on the site. For an art gallery, the site does not feature many images. The current exhibit has no image previews at all, so I have little idea what is in store, but Im sure it wont disappoint.
Very nice gallery that overlooks. Waterfront Park with a beautiful view of the water also.
Wonderful surprise. Great exhibit space. Current show, On the Edge, photographs of SCs coastline, is extraordinary.
Great location
If you live in Charleston SC, you should experience this gallery at least once!
Posh place and one of the best views in Charleston overlooking the Harbour.
Very Nice
Very interesting pieces. But it is free so it was a nice break with the high prices in Charleston.
Always shows important art
Beautiful photography.
