The Chandler Museum is small but very well put together. When we visited they had an exhibit on Chandler’s own boxer Zora Foley, a Day of the Dead exhibit, and local and National photos from Dorothea Lange (of the famous dust bowl photos). If you have children check out their to go art boxes. They have at-home activities and supplies on one of their current exhibits. (When we visited they had Frank Lloyd Wright and Day of the Dead)

We had a very fun time here. Its a great place to see the history of Chandler along with their current exhibits. They currently have a wonderful exhibit for Day of The Dead and Chandler boxer Zora Folley and his heavyweight title fight against Muhammad Ali. It is a great place to take the family to. And the staff are very kind. My family truly enjoyed it.

We enjoyed a free, knowledgeable, and informative tour of this new museum. We came away with a good understanding of Chandler history. The exhibit on the internment of Japanese American citizens during WWII is well-done and worth exploring. We also enjoyed the artworks derived from ordinary objects.

As a 64 year old Chandler Native, I was very let down by this new museum. I enjoyed seeing the Dorothea Lange exhibit, but the rest was a real let down. Only a couple dozen photos line the walls.. There is so much more to Chandler History then what I saw here. How about contacting the Bogles, Dobsons, Knoxs, Saba, Basha, and Serrano families and see if you can get some more photos. Photos of downtown in the 50s, 60s, and 70s maybe. Ill be back to see the coming Zoro Folley exibit, but not impressed by the main hall.

We came to the museum to see their exhibit on the Gila River Interment Camp during WWII. My mother in law and her extended family were interned at that camp when she was a child, so the visit was very personal to our family. We attended the exhibit opening at an evening reception and everyone was so kind and was interested in our familys tragic stories and experiences at the camp. The exhibit was great for its size and we loved making paper cranes with the other attendees - it was a wonderful interactive project. The museum has a paper crane community project where they are trying to fold 16,655 paper cranes - one for every person interned at the Gila River Internment Camp.

A very small but well-curated exhibit on the WWII Japanese internment camps in Arizona and the West coast. it was down-to-earth and honest without a lot of fluff and easy for my children to understand. They eve had a small section of books written by internees that my first grader was able to read and understand.

Quaint but a nice Adventure. We noticed this museum while on a walk through a park (hiding behind gate). Since the museum is newer there was no admission fee. We enjoyed the current exhibit about the Japaneese intermnent camps during WWII here is Arizona. There was a lot of amazing art, photos and information but seemed a bit short. It was nice learning more about history but I do wish the exhibit had been larger. The rest of the museum had general history about Chandler and was decent enougg. Small place but a nice way to spend an hour or so. The receptionist did mention they have classes going on throughout the month for adults and kids. Im just sad we missed one, it would have given us a bit more to do. Looking forward the checking out some of the lectures they have coming up.

Its a small museum that took me a little under an hour to explore. After you walk past the nicely decorated roof that shades the entrance to the museum, you walk towards your right and thats where the exhibits are. The first room was about the Japanese Internment camps in AZ and there were a list of names along with origami cranes to represent those interned. There were also a few artifacts from those camps. After that, there was a coloring area, and beyond that, there were some paintings and items (like space heaters, telephone, etc) from the 1900s. Once done with this area, you can exit into the main hall to look at some pictures placed on the walls from Chandler in the past. After that, you can exit a door their Living Room building. The Living Room is a tiny room with two sofas, old silverware and dishes from the 1900s and pictures of a historic hotel. There wasnt too much to see, but the museum is so well maintained- clean, aesthetically pleasing, and all the displays have helpful signs if you want to learn about them. The front desk ladies were especially kind and welcoming, and also informed me of the tours that they offered there.

We took a stroll over after being at the mall. I was with my eight year old granddaughter. It was quite interesting learning about the Chandler and Price families. We gained so much from the exhibit of the Japanese internment camps in the Gila. It was amazing to see the strength of the people that had to live through that and I was just an incredible learning experience for us both.

This is Chandlers newest museum. Its modern style is very appealing. My husband and I stopped in to see the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit. Dont miss it. There are wonderful photos of Wrights architectural style, including pictures of the furniture. There are actually pieces from his furniture collection. And its FREE. And dont miss the Adobe house out side and around the back of the museum.

Review №41

The Japanese internment exhibit was extremely disappointing. Besides pictures there were no real artifacts or displays. And to make it worse the exhibit promotes a version of revisionist history and untruths about the true motivation behind the internments with a modern politically correct spin and racial undertones. A museum should be a place to observe and learn the facts of our past, not be subjected to an agenda.

This small museum had just opened and all the exhibits were not quite completed yet when we were there in mid-December of 2018. Small gem of a museum about Chandler and the area. Free admission and free parking across from the mall. Currently in Nov 2019 running an exhibition on the Arizona internment camp for American citizens with Japanese ancestry during WWII. This place is small and free. If you want free air conditioning for 30 mins tops it is perfect. There is a section on Japanese history duting WWII and this was the only exhibit that wasnt disappointing or underwhelming. This place is okay for young children, but I wouldnt intentionally bring them because they probably will not appreciate it. The bathrooms are nice and clean though, so if you need the restroom stop in.
