The developmental hockey program is great and the director is an amazingly gracious and caring person. He takes the time to get to know each kid and makes sure they are learning and having fun.
Nice way to spend the afternoon. It was busier than we expected for and we got there right at 130 when the generalskate time started. Reasonable prices and the skate walkers are cheap for people that arent great on the ice or need a bit to adjust. Stayed the whole 2 hours and that was just the right amount of time for us, even with smaller kiddos.
Love this place! Perfect for Mens League Hockey, been playing there for years.
Ive been playing beer league hockey here for nearly 20 years.Ive made plenty of friends on and off the ice here, great friendly atmosphere and fun leagues to play in.
Ive been skating at this Chandler location since 1999 or 2000, playing in the adult hockey leagues for 15 of those years. This rink recently changed hands and is now run by the Ice Den people who run the Scottsdale Ice Den. In general, this has been a positive change. The ice surface at this rink has drastically improved since this rink changed management. It is better kept, with better surfaces and stays reasonable in warmer weather. In fact, they have had some growing pains (fixing cold showers etc) but seem to have gotten over the hump in these areas. I would have given them 5 stars if not for my last point below. One thing that has declined in the last year for anyone who plays hockey here- the officiating of league games has become inconsistent and poor. In this situation that everyone suffers. Refs routinely do not understand the rules in situations they should know them. It appears the refs have no relationship to the leagues and hence have no responsibility for the quality of officiating they provide. Inquiries and concerns have no where to be lodged since the refs have no accountability. This makes the experience poor for all involved.I appreciate the kind staff who manages the leagues and staffs the check-in areas. They are excellent.
My 1st time there. I had a great time with family and friends.
Clean and inviting. Im glad people at this ice ink follow CDC guidelines.
Coyotes Ice sports pro shop is a wonderful place to buy skates. David and DJ are real experts and so patient. The whole process was great from start to finish. Highly recommend them and their shop.
I was enrolled in their Learn to Skate program. The instructors were really nice & knowledgeable. I went from zero to be able to skate confidently.
This was my first time here. All of the staff were extremely nice. They had a few people on the ice at all times. And, they always came to check on me when I fell. They did a very good job of keeping the ice smooth even taking a break in the middle of the free skating time to smooth out the ice. I would definitely recommend Ice Den Chandler to anyone who wants to have a fun time ice skating.
This is a really cool place. Yes northerners, there are places to ice skate in Phoenix even in the blazing hot summer heat. This is a great place to go if you want to watch a hockey team as well. Take your ice skates out of the attic and head on over to the Ice Den.
Its really nice, a big open area and staff are so wonderful, my friend broke her ankle on the skating rink and the staff were so helpful and kind and took very good care of her. Amazing would suggest to anybody looking for a rink.
Easy location, clean, open. The ice is smoothed frequently enough during open skate. The staff is friendly and a nice area for waiting/parents, including TVs with sports!
Always a fun time! I come during public skate, and its usually pretty crowded. Lots of families and young kids are usually there, but it doesnt take away from my experience. The ice is nice for everyone:)
Great rink. Ice is always good and has everything you need. Sports bar has full bar, Chive TV and always sports on. Friendly staff, pro shop and training facility.
Great place for a fun date or family fun night. $6 per person with skate rentals.
Nice bar. Nice place to cool down throughout the summer.
The Ice Den was GREAT until the price DOUBLED and the times CHANGED. NO ONE (including boomers like me) would perfect saturday skate in the day time! Even my zoomer grandchildren dont like the change. They waited throughout the week for the sweet release of school to go skate with their buddies. But now what? NOTHING. I am very upsetty spaghetti about this. So so sad. Now we are left taking sewing classes at JOANNS for our friday fun. Not cool ice den people. Bring 5 dollar friday back!!!!!
Fantastic clean fun family fun..... quiet during school hours & great weekend specials for the whole family
Very nice establishment. Multiple rinks and a nice pro shop. Rental skates were sharp and comfortable as skates can get.
Clean facility, good food and the children love the hockey programs and public skate.
The staff was nice...the ambiance was great. There were people of all ages there all having a great time. I would highly recommend the Ice Den for anyone looking for a new experience or just a night of fun!
Had a great time. This is the second time Ive been here and its still great.
Weve gone several times for public skating. It is always a great experience. The staff are nice and helpful, the facility is top notch, and the rental equipment is decent. My 4 year-old son always has fun and you couldnt ask for a better place to spend time during the summer months.
If you like hockey, you can join a pickup league here (and other dink’s), but Ice Den is the best! Don’t forget the kiddos either! Skate rental for all sizes and ages.
We came with our pogo passes during a time they didnt accept them. Supervisor Jonny was so nice and accommodated us. Everybody there was extremely friendly. Its obvious their good attitudes towards their customers come from the top down.
Good ice
Watched the grandson play hockey. Very cool. Great in the summertime!
Freezing cold like it is susposed to be on the ice. They have remodled the public areas to be a more human friendly temperature. The new chairs are comfortable. Grand daugters hockey game was good supported good ice.
They have two rinks, and a bar with decent food. The staff is always friendly, adult beer league hockey here is fun and priced the same as all the other rinks. Almost always well organized and clean. Public skates can get ridiculously busy, but its a fun date night.
Great place to cool off in this Arizona heat. Wonderful hockey teams and great coaches
Best place in town to skate. Nice facility and staff.
Such a fun time! We went on a Friday night & the military discount was phenomenal! My 6yrold daughters first time and she had a blast. Very clean and organized place to skate!
Taking the kids here was a super fun way to get out and beat the heat during summer.
Very nice facility loctated near several different plazas and restaurants. There are two rinks here and a pro shop. Public skating sessions are available.
Oddly, I prefer this Den over the one in Scottsdale for some reason. Probably just the way the restaurant is set up... different floor elevations and a more open, spacious, bright and happier feel!
Nice place but poor parking
Didnt actually go inside. Dropped my daughter off to go ice skating with her mom. My daughter said she had fun though.
great ice to skate on the staff is great
Very friendly / polite staff; both at the counter, and on the ice.
Solid rink. Food prices could be a little better. The ice stays cold and the rink is overall a good one. We like to skate here or watch the kids we know play in their leagues.
The Ice Den of Chandler is truly an above board ice rink / facility!! They offer an outstanding array of amenities - such as an awesome little snack concession, a pro shop, and even their own little pub that they have dubbed, 18 Degrees Express” - Which is open daily, has a great selection of cold and hot beverages, beers and tasty appetizers that you can sip and munch on while watching all the action happening on the East Rink. Its really a neat place to just hang with family and friends and enjoy the entire experience. The Chandler Ice Den offers two ice rinks that accommodates public skaters, as well as every ice skating sport imaginable. They also offer group and individual ice skating lessons to children as well as to adults.A few months ago, I signed my son up for hockey lessons, while my daughter took some figure skating lessons - and I was just extremely impressed with the way each of their instructors really took their time with each of the student in their groups. They have a remarkable amount of patience, understanding and assiduity! These lessons had a tremendous impact on the confidence levels that my kids now have on the ice. (Which both started out as zero!) Even taking just one or two lessons will provide an extraordinary boost in ones ability to start ice skating properly, and will give the edge to build skills through each and every lesson thereon after. The public admission to The Ice Den is very affordable, and the lessons that they offer are very reasonably priced - especially considering the level of skill and talent that their instructors have! All in all, I consider the Ice Den to be one of the best assets that the community of Chandler has in it’s treasure chest of jewels.
I love Ice skating here but I Have one question on the Saturday Public Skating from 12:30 to 2:20 how much is the charge per person?
I love going to public skate with my friends on Friday nights, but on several occasions I have planned nights with my friends weeks in advance only to find out that the Ice Den canceled it the morning of. All of these times, it has thrown off my plans and extremely frustrated me, especially since I checked to make sure that public skate was scheduled for these nights weeks in advance. If you’re going to cancel, don’t cancel the morning of.
Promised my kid that Id get us skates for some open ice events this hockey season. Well, after procrastinating for a few months, our first event was today and I had to get some skates ASAP. After numerous phone calls and driving 5 hrs (round trip), the staff at the Ice Den in Chandler were awesome and got us fitted, sharpened and the wee one got her first ice skating experience. We had such a good time, that we decided to make the drive at least once a month to skate at the Ice Den.The staff were knowledgeable, patient, and showed an interest in teaching a kid about her first skates. Thanks.
Kids had a lot of fun. I wish everything didnt have to run through the front 2 registers though. Waited 10 minutes in line to get our tickets, Waited 10 minutes in line just to get quarters for the lockers and then waited another 10 minutes to rent a walker. Ridiculous waste of time. Other than that, great place.
Visited the ice den for my cousins skating lessons. The girls working there looked like they were having such a great time and were so natural when dealing with kids
Always a fun place to take the kids to watch their dad play hockey!
For hockey this place is great. Consistently has great ice and locker rooms always seem to be in tip top shape. The only down side is that the locker rooms are locked on the opposite side of the bench across the ice. Make sure to lock up.
1st time Ive ever been there. And the place was nice.
Very nice rink! Super friendly staff!
I feel comfortable there. The ice is reslly good quality and i havent fallen one time since ive been there
We love it here. The staff, coaches, facility, ambiance and of course Gary makes us feel so comfortable and at home. Our son has learned so much during the summer and has enjoyed every minute of it.
Our one and only favorite place to take kids and invite friends to go whether its to enjoy skating or watching a hockey game from the bar restaurant. Very clean and well maintained. Great pro shop and fair prices.
This pace is great place to go. The building is always clean and nice. I highly recommend coming here. Always nice to come to here because lockers rooms are always available and there always spotless.
Great place for free skate. I slightly prefer the rink in Gilbert though.
Havent skated in so long, it was nice to get out on the ice, staff are extremely kind and helpful. A little busy and wish there was more skating space but overall pretty great
My kids love Ice Den! The instructors are wonderful and the facility is well run. I definitely recommend their learn to skate program, the homeschool program in particular. Great exercise and a fantastic way to take a break from the desert.
Love it here, clean, good snacky food!
Me and my friends have been going here on a consistent weekly basis. We love ice skating and we are all really good at it. Unfortunately this location only expects trashy skaters. Because any time any of us did something nice we would be told to calm down. They are not equipped to handle more than 100 people their staff is too young and inexperienced. With a lot of anger issues. They will provoke any customer till they get angry.... which results in conflict. I personally have had a couple issues with their manager bieng very unreasonable. I’ve had staff cuss at me for riding backwards (not even fast). They have workers that make you feel very uncomfortable. My friend is gay and he was taunted when he held someone’s hand this place is horrible if you are not a 12 year old privileged white kid. I wouldn’t reccoment anyone go here. If you want to skating please visit scottsdale Ice den.
Kid plays hockey here so we have had occasion to grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. Its a little on the pricey side but what do you expect at this type of place? The food is good and the staff is friendly. I wouldnt go out of my way to eat here but its definitely better than I remember from when I was a kid and going skating.
Ice Den was nice. Went with my daughter for fathers day. It was inexpensive and fun. Great thing to do with kids, but keep in mind youre on ice and most likely your kids will be falling. Dress them in warm clothes and gloves and pads.
Very clean and efficient. My granddaughter loves her skate lessons here.
Great place to take the kids to skate!
We were there attending a birthday party. The event rooms were clean. There was seating to watch the children skating. The location was busy.
Awesome Ice Rink! Nice and friendly staff sometimes.
They take very good care of the ice, its very hard not slushy but the food is kind of blah but the service is good
Its a great place to take your kids. Even for kids that are inexperienced in ice skating will be fine. They offer these walker looking things in multiple sizes from 5 year olds to adult sizes to help them stay on their feet on the ice
Cool place to watch your friends from Wisconsin try and re-live their youth! JO....
Great place to slate and get out of the heat. Also the little howlers is a great way to get the kids into hockey.
I had a great time although for family night there were more teen agers than i expected. I observed it to be difficult for little kids to learn at the railing with some average teenage carelessness about. The rental skates were well kept. The price was good, 5 dollar june 1 2018. The seating for those not skating was good and out of the cold, as well.
Was super fun
Thank you Chandler Ice Den for making my daughters Sweet 16 party such an amazing experience. From the minute we walked in the door and the event coordinator knew who we were to the skating coach who helped and encouraged everyone even after the lesson was over to the party hostess in the private room and the staff at the grill, everyone was so accomidating and friendly. Every need, want and whim was attended to to the utmost degree. It was a day that was truly unforgettable! Thank you so much!
What an impressive ice skating facility. When I was a little kid, I went to some rinky dink places compared to this. Clean, bright, and new everything here.
Beware that they do not allow skaters to practice jumps and spins or anything advanced during the public skating sessions. You are only allowed to skate in a circle around the rink. I have never heard of this bizarre rule. It was extremely disappointing for us, because we came out all the way from San Diego to meet up with an elderly family member who is a very accomplished figure skater herself, so she could watch my daughter skate. My daughter was so excited to show her all the things she knew how to do. We got to the rink, paid, and she got all ready with her skates on. After just a few jumps and spins, they told us it was not allowed. My little girl burst into tears. It was a very disappointing trip to the rink for all of us. The only one who deserves a star is the girl who worked there who was very sweet when she told us it was not allowed.
This place was fantastic did night skate for $5 week including skate rental
Nice place and friendly staff
Aside from this place being a perfect location to escape the summer Phoenix heat, there are also plenty of activities for all. Public skating, figure skating, league and organised hockey are available here. You can also watch our local universities and city teams play.
Its not bad but they should have better maintained public skates and the snack bar or restaurant should always be open one or the other since they dont allow outside food or drinks
I registered my daughter for their learn to skate class. They tried to pack all classes at the same time, and the ice was so crowded, very little room for each kids. It is said to be a 45 minutes class, but it took 5 minutes to get on the ice (because too crowded), and the last 10 minutes are free play, so it is actually a 30 minutes class. Then, I decided to withdraw her from this class after the 1st class. However, the manager (someone named Julie Patterson) told me no refund unless my daughter is sick or injured with doctors written notes. So, be careful if you want to try their class, it is non-refundable!
Good rinks. Lots of parking.
Nice updated rink in Chandler. Parking gets a bit crowded at times.
Absolutely love all the staff and coaches at the Chandler Ice Den. The public ice skating on Friday nights is a lot of fun, my whole family and friends enjoys it. They offer a lot of great programs for all ages. The Little Howler program is also great too.
The staff is great, alright beer selection at the bar
Broomball game - Team building for work.great fun but going to be a few bruises tomorrow
Great place to play hockey, but the refs cant call a fair game to save their lives.
Tons of fun with the family during open skating time.
Love this Den for both my boyfriends Puckhead games and free skate days when we can skate together
A place for a lot of fun
Absolutely love the location, the staff is friendly and helpful, and its always clean and well maintained. Great place to go with family, have fun and bond.
Great place to have little ones learn to play hockey.
Great place to cool off!
Phoenix should have at least three of these. It should absolutely be more of a hockey mecca. Give it time...
Great rink with plenty of options for entertainment outside of the hockey or skating. Decent pricing and great parking.
