Totally worth having it in my semester fees.
Great gym. Clean interior with lots of facilities.
When I went here it was called the IMPE Building for intramural and physical education. Tremendous facility encompassing virtually every sport or physical activity imaginable. I became a much better athlete here playing against people who were far better than I was.
Excellent gym: had a great time making gains here!
Great place to work out and swim, always very clean and orderly
Equipment is well maintained. Some of the staff are very nice. Some of the staff are incredibly rude. Gets very busy after the parking meters become free, so if you go in the evening expect to wait (especially for weights). Gym is very well supervised. Inclusion of a pool (indoor/outdoor) and a sauna makes it an overall above average gym experience.
The facilities are great. Well-spaced, clean and including a big diversity of working machines. The pools are great during the summer and running track above allows you to skip the threadmills if you dont like them. Overall, a great place to exercise.
Needs more weight equipment. Wait for squat racks can be ridiculous sometimes.
They have all the weights and cardio machines and even a rock wall. After 5 PM everything is extremely crowded and often there is a 10 or more minute wait for a squat rack on which people sometimes do deadlifts when there are perfectly fine deadlift platforms.
Great place to workout! For UIUC students you must show your ID card to enter, so dont forget your ID at home! There are two swmming pools (one indoor and one outdoor) so you can swim all the year. There is also fitness class everyday (check the calendar online). To get access to the fitness class you need to purchase the fitness pass. There is a lot of fun and options there, so dont miss your opportunity to feel healthy.
Great place to play racquetball!
Nice/clean college recreation center thats packed with many different facilities. Its usually full of people but if you go at the right time then its manageable. The gym seems pretty small considering the amount of kids that attend the college so be prepared to wait if thats where you go. For whatever reason, the badminton courts are almost always full so its best to reserve a spot ahead of time if you plan to play.
Great facilities but staff is poorly coached.
Great place for all fitness needs. Space and equipment is plenty.
Really awesome for a college gym. Lots of machines, and the indoor rock wall and pools are a lot of fun. They also have special events here sometimes, like Bernie Sanders! Great place to bring a guest with a weekend pass, as there are a lot of things to do here.
Fine if you are a college guy, and this IS a college rec center. But since they do offer memberships for faculty, locals, etc., I would have to say there are better places to get a membership that are much better for the non frat boy set.
Wow ..I guess one of the best univ campuses..
Amazing place for students. My only complaint would be its so huge I could get lost. Has all of you possible recreational needs; gyms, track, pool, a rock climbing wall (personal favorite, equipment rentals are cheap too). If youre close and are looking for a place to blow off some steam, definitely would recommend the ARC.
Love that they offer badminton, very busy though
Its a great place to work out when it is empty....it is way to small for this large of a university. 5 squat racks for 30,000+ people, 8 stair masters? But countless treadmills and elipticals. Just wish they would better maximize the space somehow so it would not be so crowded
Fully equipped sports center. Indoor/outdoor swimming pool, plenty of basketball, soccer, volley ball, badminton, squash, racquetball... courts, lots of cardio machines, very good weight-lifting area, climbing wall, running track... If you can, avoid busy hours between 5pm and 9pm, specially for the swimming pool and the weight-lifting area, and take advantage of the fact that they close at midnight during the semester.
I am there a minimum of 3 times a week! This place is great whether you are here to swim, run get a massage or even learn how to cook healthy food! Highly recommend this place
Very nice university inthe world
Great place to workout! It can get busy at certain times but if you can adjust your schedule, it should work fine.
Hands-down the best gym in Champaign-Urbana if you are into lifting, and it offers more basketball courts and cardio machine variants than other places as well. However people know this and due to being a college gym, it can get extremely crowded during peak hours. Wifi is excellent, but rates are pricey unless you are a current student.
My favorite gym
Great place to workout: new equipment, lots of courts and activities, nice pools, and even an indoor climbing wall. Almost any exercise you might want to do is available. I go multiple times a week.
Nice campus. Wish I visited while I was in college.
Good place to relax from school.
While its usually crowded, the facilities here are amazing. Seemingly infinite number of machines, basketball courts, and weights. So long as you avoid peak hours (after dinner), youll love the experience.
Amazing facilities which feature an indoor running track and even Badminton courts! $1 to rent a racket! Yes I was surprised at first but its got a lot of diverse facilities!
You name it, they got it at the ARC. Classes, pools, ergs, barbells and much more. Everything is clean and organized. Staffed by college students, might be a drawback for some but Ive never had a problem with it.
Large gym with multiple levels which cover multiple activities. They have a wide range of lifting equipment which is well maintained.
Nice place for wcfa conference.
Great place to work out, play basketball, or go for a swim. Definitely a nice facility. Only problem is the intimidating environment
A ton of equipment, theres always something to do! I personally enjoy the badminton courts, something you cant get at CRCE.
Best gym Ive been to, with 4 floors of equipment, courts for all sorts of sports, swimming pools and even a climbing wall
This place has every indoor athletic activity. If youre into working out, you wont be disappointed with the selection.
Love this place so much!
Not as crowded as the ARC and makes me feel more comfortable working out.
Pretty much as good as a college recreation center can get!
Best gym i have ever been to
Decent gym; has everything I need
Hands down the best of all the campus recreational facilities here in Champaign-Urbana. Several basketball and volleyball courts, tracks, weights, indoor and outdoor pool, and countless other gym equipment in addition to nutrition classes and a climbing wall.
Whats not to love about the ARC, amazing facilities and staff
A little small but enough forva quick workout in between classes
Clean, lots of different equipment, free weights, pools, ball courts. Pricey if you are not at U,of I or affiliated
I love the ARC. All of the facilities are maintained very well, and the overall atmosphere is great. I go there all the time to use the machines and racquetball courts.
Nice and clean convenience staffs are helpdul
Great gym on campus of University of Illinois.
All of the gyms and courts and machines and the track are really good! The think is itd really expensive for someone not going to the U of I and there isnt even a discount for U of I employees.
Amazing recreation center. You can do any activity here.
In the HOUSE OF GAINZZ WE ARE ALL EQUAL!!!!!!... oh and the arc is nice :)
Helpfull staff
Very big facility but could use more of the basic equipment such as benches and squat racks. 5 squat racks for 30,000 undergrads seems a bit disproportionate.
Staffs are not that nice perhaps because they are students..
Wonderful place for working out!
Arc is better
Awesome facility. Lots of things to do, very clean!
Has every type of activity you can think of
Excellent indoor sports complex.
Too small weight room. Dumbbells have varying handle sizes, even within a single pair, potential safety hazard for heavy lifters. The barbells are all a smaller diameter than a standard Olympic bar. Curl bars are like razor blades to your palms. And worst of all, all the early 2000s machines that are all run down trash.
Really nice facility.
Best Rec center in the nation!!!
Love group fitness class, faciities and basketball courts
Cool facility. Super expensive.
Welcoming staff and sparkling facilities.
Work out room way too small for an entire university. Needs to be expanded
Good
One of the best gymnasiums in the country.
Always great for a pickup game of basketball.
The best place for recreation on campus.
State of the art
Very clean and has lots of equipment.
Has everything you could want: weights, cardio machines, indoor + outdoor pool, climbing wall, occasional events, and more.
One of the best places to workout and relax.
Great place!
Love coming here
Good lifting
Good for exercise
Great school
The place I sweat
Love this place!
Probably one of the best in the country
Excellent gym
It is lively.
Fantastic experience overall!
Decent gym
Often used as a convention center.
4 floors with plenty of facilities
Great place to work out
Usually not as crowded as ARC
This is a good place to get a workout.
Excellent facilities, helpful staff.
Very friendly staffer~ crowded at times thou.
Great facility.
Great facility and super nice staff!
Helps me get and stay on shape
