Of all the Harvard buildings, this is the most well known, the most elaborate and the most worth visiting. This place is an architectural wonder to say the leave. The level of detail in virtually all ornamentary works breathtaking. The color palette is bewildering. And the wood-work is fantastic! Dont forget to grab a shot of the tinted glass set in a dark backdrop!
Gorgeous old church turned into a theatre on the edge of Harvard Square. The venue is small and all seats are good. They offer parking for certain events, but you can usually find street parking if youre willing to walk a couple of blocks. Definitely not enough womens bathrooms!!!
Harvard are Harvard, While the theater was quaint and full of history, the interview and launch of Randall Munroes new book, how to was the main attraction. For XKCD fans this is an event not to be missed with humorous anecdotes on the research behind the book to some personal stories from Randall. No individual seats at the theater, just benches and the seating is tight, but well worth it for the event.
Got tickets for the Sutton Foster show to take my visually impaired brother. Bob and everyone at the box office were so incredibly helpful in getting us visually impaired seats. The venue is spectacular! Customer service A+! Thanks, Bob :-)
Beautiful theater with amazing acoustics. Also the most uncomfortable and cramped seating I have ever experienced! Middle seat on an airplane would be a step up.
We go there on concerts of Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. The atmosphere is amazing. Its a small hall where you can see musicians even from the last row.I have a student ID and buy two tickets for $10 each. And I can watch here concerts that are played in Boston Philharmonic Orchestra for much higher price.
Beautiful wood paneling. Cozy seating. Somewhat small. Warm. Historic. Harvard square.
It is old but well maintained, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The bench seating is reasonably comfortable but the spacing is tight, so be preparedThe interior is lovely and very well maintained.

I love the architectural style and the glass windows.
Its quite a beautiful theater but its not soundproofed and all the outside police, ambulance and other sirens destroy the enjoyment of a musical concert.
Great acoustics and good lines of site. Seating is comfortable enough.
Love the setting, but the seating is designed for when people were 52 and 120lbs.
Beautiful theater that hosts many performances, student or not, conferences, musicians, etc. They also hold the beginning presentation parts of the Harvard University tours in this theater. The architecture is very beautiful and the design inside and outside is simply stunning.
Great historic theater with atmosphere and good sound wherever you sit
Amazing building. Loved the architecture!
Thats a nice place The architectural design is like no other! It was truly a pleasure being present for Harvards 2018 Graduation Commencement. And I even had the chance to take a peep at ‘Hogwarts’ on campus!
Had Harvard Summer School orientation here. Only thing that comes to mind is - Historic!
Visit the place back 2012 great building architecture
Cs50 is a wonderful experience! Sanders Theater is a gem. Harvard yard at 4:00 pm is simply amazing!
Great place for small venue performancesSaw/ heard Beethovens Violin Concerto by a somewhat lesser know orchestra who did a fine, no, wonderful rendition.
I saw a production of The Revels here, my first time and was blown away by the music, the audience participation, the costume, actors and sets!! The theater itself was lovely and BIG with great acoustics! It was so so much fun!! Also, I had been to Sanders once or twice before!
At Harvard Yard or old yard The dinning hall of the students from Harvard university. harvard id please to harry potters dinner housePublic cant always enter but its a beautiful building you should definitely check out if you are in the area.
Great theatrical venue, with the exception of the bathrooms, of which there are far too few.
We saw Coro Allegro perform here. What a lovely historic space.
Be prepared for stairs! The sound quality here is amazing, and the intimate setting makes you feel so close to the performance.
Great building. Nice location.
Grand historic venue; great for Revels!
Beautiful old building on Harvards campus
The place is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful atmosphere.
Wow. What a great theater!
This place is extroidanary! I wanted to go see the inside, ALL of the inside all the way to the top. Annenburg Hall is adjacent and we snuck into there for a minute but got kicked out shortly after lol... The hall is now a freshman only dining hall.
Beautiful, historic, intimate music and performance venue.
Attended several functions here. Beautiful architecture.
Very tidy and beautiful building. Friendly staff and interesting New Year Concert with champagne reception. A sweet memory for year 2019.
Beautiful hall, good accoustc.
An iconic, historic space. Went to some events here for Yale-Harvard weekend.
Marvelous performance hall, dont upgrade or fix up, or change it. PLEASE. Its good, just as it is.
Adore this place. Absolutely beautiful venue to see a special event or concert.
Beautiful historic theater and concert hall.
Best college place and arts center in Harvard
Wonderful concert venue with great acoustics.
Gorgeous theatre with excellent sight lines and acoustics from every seat, and free garage parking nearby. Also attracts some of the best acts, especially Christmas Revels.
Gorgeous venue. Seating is tight but comfortable enough to sit for a few hours.
Inspiring, I wish we could have viewed the entire inside.
Interesting venue, but not my first choice for a concert. Acoustics are not the best and the seats are among the most uncomfortable in Cambridge. Prefer several other sites for a two hour concert.
I apologize for the previous review posted, that was intended for another place... Sanders Theatre has amazing architecture and the sense of history oozes out of its pores... It is a MUST see if you are the Boston area!!!
I go there to hear concerts and lectures, but,t the building is so beautiful, its worth going to just take in its majesty.
I love the acoustics. Outside of listening to the Boston Philharmonic, The Great Debate was filmed in this theatre.
Harvard Universitys renowned and beautiful performance and lecture hall. A must see!
Beautiful old building, great acoustics, poor sight lines, and super tight seating. Performance on NY eve by Boston Baroque was superb.
Great old playhouse/live theater. Did I say; at Harvard. The only way Id get in is to buy a ticket. Good experience!
It was a good time. Beautiful theater. I took a photo but I was told not to by an usher. Oh well.
Acoustics, old-world, artisanal wood detail and quality, views of and proximity to presenters make this space intimate and inviting, majestic and imposing at once
It is a sublime structure, with incredible glasswork. Golden hour is the best, to enjoy it from inside. Important moments in history took place here.
Always a pleasure to be in this beautiful traditional Hall. The sound is wonderful and the seating is flexible. Easy to get to from public transportation
It is small theater yet it projects a large impression on the audience and on the performances.
Historic Venue that reeks of exclusivity and upper crust baloney.
Out most beautiful
First time there. Very impressed with the sound system. Theatre sitting arrangement is great no obstruction. Totally would go there again.
Attended a Beethoven concert with the Boston Philharmonic. The music was lovely and the conductor was funny and engaging. However...There were two photographers that were there to record the event. The photographers made noise (clicking cameras) the entire time, at one point in the concert there was one photographer 3 ft behind me clicking away and the other was 10 ft to my right.Needless to say they ruined the experience for myself and the others around me. Not sure why one would need to take hundreds of photos of a stationary subject. I emailed the the Office for the Arts at Harvard and they never bothered to respond. Poor form
Great world musical shows. Beautiful artistic theatre.
Feels intimate and the show was well done. Could see evidence of show lighting and sound system that could provide most of what one would expect. Building is amazing wood and stone work. A bit limited on leg room.
Vast auditorium and great accustoms. You have tone lucky to attend lectures here by eminent professors. My daughter had that privilege! Visit to Harvard is not complete if you didnt see this place. Stained glass interior decorations and wooden floor are beyond description!
Revels is always a joyous way to start the Christmas season. Or whole family loves it and cant wait to come back the following year.
Great place to see a show.
Beautiful venue. Feels like traveling in time.
Beautiful venue, incredible sound
The dinning hall of the students from Harvard university. Public cant always enter but its a beautiful building you should definitely check out if you are in the area.
Amazing venue.
I was here Sunday February 25,2018 to enjoy a splendid concert . I purchased a Balcony A, row EE, seat 4 ticket. This sit is abstracted with balcony bars so that I could see only 1/8 of the orchestra. I couldnt see the conductor and the pianist at all. This seat should be prohibited for sale. When I was trying to change that nasty seat for a better one, the ladies who are in the concert hall to make the customers comfortable ruined my Sunday to the worst. There were plenty of not taken seats. They wouldnt let me take any of them. There was a guy sitting in front of me taking all the 4 seats in the row. When I was trying to change my nasty seat one of the ladies took me by hand and ordered to go back to my seat. Both of them were chasing me even during the intermission when I was busy with my phone. One of them came up to me and ordered not to do any photography, which I wasnt doing. Looked like they planned to ruin my day. That was a terrible experience. I wish people like that shouldnt take such positions if they plan on making us uncomfortable. The worst experience I ever had visiting a concert hall.
I love Sanders. The architecture is spectacular and the acoustics are amazing
Great sound, historic place
Great performances are always featured there. Seating is horrible especially for tall people
Great venue with comfortable seating and amazing acoustics.
Oh, wonderful ambience. Historic hall, and mostly classical art forms are performed here. If you get a chance, its a must visit.
In love with this place
It is a wonderful performance venue.
I love seeing events at this historical theater - great sound and viewing
Beautiful theater with great acoustics and historic energy
A wonderfully historic building. Great architecture. Clean bathrooms.
I have only seen the Revels here but the theater and lobby are gorgeous and worth the cost of a show to see. The small, hard, densely packed seating will not bother you once you get a look around the theater. Very intimate stage. It is handicap accessable but as most places at Harvard, limited areas are accessable. The bathrooms are in the basement which, amazingly, does have elevator access. So, if you need disability access, Harvard publishes a map online. Looking at that prior to your trip is advisable. I also noticed that the lobby is standing room only and there were a few people with walkers who were forced to wait in the lobby, without access to a seat. So, make sure to read Harvards disability access policies and plan accordingly.
Came here for the Christmas Revels and it was fantastic. Sanders Theater in the hall was perfect for it because at one point you leave and go into the entrance hall. The hall looks very old, but well maintained, so it went perfect with the play being centered in the 1800s.
Zander at Sanders is quite a treat.
Beautiful space and excellent acoustics.
Great timbered hall in a Victorian Gothic building. I loved the accustic of Sanders theater during a violin concerto. Many of the seats have obstructed views of the stage. Choose your ticket carefully.
Fabulous venue.
A nice old theater where you can enjoy a classical concert.
