Today I took the Dance Paint Write class from 10-noon. To my surprise and pleasure the dance part was more of a free flow meditation through movement, as I am far from a dancer and was nervous about this aspect. The whole class was a wonderful meditation in three forms (as the title so aptly shares) and I found the free flowing movement liberating and freed up any kinks or paint I was feeling my body and prepared me to paint more fluidly. My painting was nothing to hang in a gallery but it represented my feelings, past present and future. We followed this with a journaling of our thoughts and this brought me solidification of the two previous more abstract practices, and we closed with a share. It was a lovely experience that is hard to convey -- you have to try it to know how amazing it makes you feel. WORTH trying even if you are NOT a dancer, painter or writer by any means. Its a healing exercise in meditation and releasing self-judgement. To the contrary, it helped me become more self-aware, and look forward to returning.
