John and the entire team at South Holston River Lodge once again exceeded our expectations in every way. From the lodging, to the food and of course the fishing, everything was off the charts. This is our second trip to the South Holston River Lodge and it only gets better. We enjoyed 3 days of beautiful weather and his guides put us on the fish all day. Plus nothing beats coming back after a long day of fishing to a great meal and a campfire down by the river each night.Keep up the great work South Holston River Lodge, we will see you next year! Awesome fly fishing. Beautiful scenery.

We only used the guide service for this trip, but John was very accommodating in making changes to our dates due to weather as well has hooked us up with a wonderful guide, Brandon Barbour. Brandon had us on fish all day, kept us entertained and made for a wonderful trip. Hope to be back soon.

Great fishing, fun to kayak

My third visit to the Lodge, my husbands fourth - think we like it !!!! Great location, extremely accommodating staff, food and service was fantastic. Fly fishing for two days was super with their guide Brandon.

The room is stocked with a variety of snacks and the refrigerator is filled to the brim with assorted beverages. The included meals cooked by the chefs are on par with any fine dining, and the staff and owners work together to give you an outstanding experience.I had a full-day float trip with Jon Stunkard, and had one of the best days fishing I have ever experienced. I have done a lot of fishing, but this was my first-ever fly-fishing trip. Jon had me casting and mending within a matter of minutes, and I was hooking fish very shortly after that. Jon spent the day coaching, rowing, reading conditions and tying on flies that he ties himself and kept me on fish. All necessary equipment was provided, and I had a blast.I don’t think that owner Jon Hooper and I are related, but he and everyone else at South Holston River Lodge made me feel like family. I hope to return soon.

The river is beautiful and fishes well. The people are even better, the staff go out of their way to make every part of the trip fantastic. The food is excellent. I would have given five stars even if we didnt catch a fish in the two days we were there.

From start to finish these guys were pros. John the lodge manager hooked me up with a great guide name Joe Kostura... He was full of Knowledge about the area and got us on some great fish also... Joe was a pleasure to fish with for the day. I definitely would recommend south Holston River Lodge and their guides. Top-notch company. Looking forward to coming back and fishing with these guys again. Thanks Joe Kostura your a super star!!!

Simply amazing.

We visited last summer, had an awesome time. The staff was exceptional, the cabins well stocked and very comfortable. They kept us well fed, we have reservations for a return trip this spring, looking forward to it.

Great fishing lodge. Super cabins and the fishing is phenomenal

I had one of the best guided fly fishing trips I have ever had with guide Andrew Bright. His knowledge of the Watauga River and where and how to fish was better than anyone could ever expect. He was professional and, personable and I look forward to fishing with him again.

The best two days of fishing I have ever had. The lodge is very nice and the staff are top notch. The food is five star restaurant quality. I had the filet, pork osso bucco, and pork chop, and they were all excellent. The rooms are very cozy and it was one of the most accomodating places I have ever stayed at. The views from the river are excellent.

Just returned from the SoHo River Lodge where Jon, JD and Lynn put up another excellent hospitality experience. Despite the Covid 19 conditions, the staff provided a safe, clean and comfortable environment to enjoy a lodging/fishing bucket list experience. We might have had the best weather day on the river ever and the fishing was excellent. We were one of two boats we saw all day! That Is not normal on this beautiful river!

This is the fifth time weve stayed and it keeps getting better! Even with COVID-19 we had an excellent stay. They really work to keep everyone safe and still have a great time. Cabin was excellent, clean and fully stocked with beer and wine. The food and lodging were 5 star as usual and the staff was extremely attentive to requests and used PPE for all interactions. We used Andrew as a guide and had a great time on the water, his knowledge and expertise made the days fun and fast moving Andrew was our guide and once again great weve used him several times before and have always had a great experience, this time was exceptional, lots of fish and great weather.. Weve already booked another trip for next May .

These cabins are amazing!!! If you like to fish, you wanna stay here. Wether youre a seasoned angler, or a novice beginner, these cabins are worth the stay even if you dont even go on the river. Will definitely be back.
