Braintree Municipal Golf Course

I only played 9 holes but is a very beautiful course. I grew up a town away and this is the first time playing Braintree. The only knock was a rude employee, he was the guy telling us when we can tee off. Was barking orders at us like we were his employees. I dont get it some courses the people are so nice and others they act like you are interrupting their busy day and you didnt just had them money to play. Not sure if I will return to Braintree.

Nice local course. I wish my town had a municipal course like this one.

Course is in great condition. Reasonably priced. Good covid-19 protocols. Single carts available at this time. Highly recommend!

A 9 hole round will take a minimum of 3 hours because they over book every tee time all day and don’t care what you do or say after they get you’re money. I had a tee time for 6:20 pm and got 4 holes in and walked off at 830pm because every hole I played was a 4 party wait. And if they know it’s over booked, they tell you to go to the back 9 where you will wait even longer and cut groups off taking the turn. Worst managed golf course I’ve ever been to and I will never go back. Such a shame because it never used to be like this.

Well groomed, beautiful holes especially for a public course.

I called 22 hours before my tee time and told them I had a family emergency and I need to cancel my tee time. The gentleman on the phone was extremely rude, and told me he would not refund me. He ended up just hanging up the phone on me.

Best public course in the area $70 for 18 with cart

Was one of the worst rounds not because of the golf course. The round was 5.5 hours when the tee times are 15 minutes apart. Does not make sense to me when I played last Thursday in 3:45.

I thought for one thing it cost too much to play there for the type of course it is I think it should be half the price I will not be back it’s too bad

Unfortunately the driving range is ONLY for lessons and they don’t offer 9 holes like most courses.

Fantastic golf course right outside Boston. Course is fair and you must keep it in the fairway . Not very forgiving if you are wild off the tee The starters and staff in the pro shop are fantastic.Very walkable course which is a plus..Some of the greens are a little beat up and stay out of the traps as they are not in great shape. No driving range either.Bring your own water as there is almost none on the courseFood is fantastic in the grill as well. Great experience all around. BRAVO Braintree Municipal

Great golf course and phenomenal experience we have had, taking our lessons with Craig.

For a public, the course ranks highly. Greens well kept and fairways in goo shape. No blind shots which is a bonus for a course so close to an urban area. No range is the only bummer.

I am giving this golf course two stars because it is beautiful and very well maintained, and it also has other amenities; but this course as it relates to rate of play, is badly managed, and not to mention a number of rude golfers on the course. On a Sunday with a tee time just after 9am and the rate of play for us after 6 holes was around 2 hours, it took another hour to make it to the turn. The ranger was present but seemingly never made anyone increase their rate of play or to pick up and move on to the next hole, as the rate of play remained 3 holes an hour. After 4 hours on the course and through 12 holes, my partner and I opted to eat the money we paid as it was impossible to have a consistent game having to wait 20-25 minutes between swings. Even to try and up the rate of play we went to skip a hole to get ahead of a walking foursome (since we were 2 in a cart), and we were berated by the foursome and we were threatened numerous times that they had the pull to have us banned from the course for life, and commenting numerous times that they could have us kicked off the course right now. The whole day was a terrible experience, but again, the course is very pretty.Will not be going back.

Great course and fun place

This course is terrible. It’s 4+ star rating on here is bogus. Most likely propped up by course management to generate more traffic. It’s a lie. To start, the service in the clubhouse could not be worse. Wouldn’t cook any food for us 25 minutes before our tee time because there wasn’t enough time. Clearly he was just making up some bs out of total laziness. Then once we get to the first tee there’s a child working as the starter. The course was the slowest round we’ve played all year. Absolutely no organization, resulting in a terrible pace. The fairways were in terrible shape due to years of neglect. This place is clearly cutting corners on maintenance. Overgrown weeds everywhere, rocks in sand traps, dead patches all over fairways and rough. I will admit, the greens were in very nice shape for the most part, fast and challenging. Hardly a compelling reason to give this trashy course any of your money.

I have not been treated worse at a golf course. Inefficient pro shop and awful rangers. I’m sorry (but I’m really not) but these people really need to get a grip, save your money and literally play anywhere else.

The worst golf experience I have ever had. From the moment I walked in I experienced issues. The staff is very unorganized and most importantly disrespectful. Im sure the ratings are boosted by staff because not one part of this course deserves more than 1 star. Do yourself a big favor and play golf anywhere else!

One of the best public courses Ive ever played. Plenty of water around the course making for some honest shots. Watch out if its rained recently it can get pretty sloppy.

Get on their email list and they send out good deals

This place has been a godsend. I have 2 young children and am on a strict budget, especially when if it comes to golf. Well folks, Im here to inform you that Braintree muni is the answer to your problems. Not only if you catch one of their many specials, the price is right. And the caliber of course is so much better than courses ive paid triple the price to play. This course compares to those that charge 70$ a round. And if you catch a special you can play here for 20$. 30$ with a cart. The course itself is challenging. It will definately punish you if you cant keep it on the fairway, and if your ball ends up in the wild stuff and u go to find out you might come out with 4 provs before you find your ball. Other than that though so many more good things to say. And they just got a trackman for public use, 30 bucks an hour. Sends you all your shots to your email for review. Cant beat that if you have winter golf blues and need a few reps. Love this place, want to keep it the little secret it is but also wish for them to do well. They deserve it....*edit. I will say in honesty that if you catch the course on a busy day pace of play can be slow. The rangers are very lax, so if your just beginning this is a great thing as you dont have that pressure of being that guy holding up course play. That being said, dont be that guy holding up course play. If you lose a ball and cant find it within a minute, just drop one u find because there are literally thousands of balls scattered around the edges. And please I know you want to get better but dont take 10 practice swings just to shank one in the woods. Get up there one practice swing and go. Keep the course flowing. I guarantee youll play better to. Something mental happens when you see that white ball. Notice how all your pactice swings tend to be perfect? Then you step up to the ball and just hit a dud?! Its a mental game. But if slow play is the worst thing about the course, hey you can find that at any busy course. But I wouldnt even call it a negative. If you have time to spare hit a few extra shots and practice if the people in front of you are extra slow and no one is behind you.

Played here yesterday and had a great experience! The people working here were extremely friendly and helpful, and the course was in great condition! Will be back again soon.

I think this is one of the better values within 20 miles of Boston. Great course, challenging layout and easy enough to walk.

This course was in great shape and the greens fees were reasonable. I hadnt been there is a decade and was really pleasantly surprised on how great it was. Lots of nature to be seen as well.

Played here before but last time was a bad experience from the word go- messed up check in at the clubhouse, to the weird setup with the starters, and then condescending rangers. So I got mixed up and thought the cart path on 18 was 1, it did look like it went around to the pin and maybe cost me an extra 15 seconds. Hadnt played here in a whiles. That warranted a dressing down? Course was also in bad condition, especially for a swamp where it hasnt rained in weeks. Not going back.

The layout is exeptional and kept in great shape. Don`t forget your divot tool! Lets keep this great course perfect

Would give it 0 if I could. The ranger was horrible... Very disrespectful, he should be fired on the spot. Slowest pace of play I have ever seen. Save your money or go somewhere else.Youll thank me later!
