Very nice! I liked the hiking trails and I loved learning about the history of crow wing. It is quite beautiful there
Some campsites are a little small and not very private. Being close to camp ripley and hearing helicopters/gunshots might not be for everyone. But stellar views. Amazing hikes and bikes. Must visit, but maybe be cautious on staying and which site.
Lots of trails, trail marking was so-so where trails had intersections but was a very nice fall hike. Pick up a trail map to aid your walk. Trails cross the Paul Bunyan paved trails which were empty and provided a nice additional hike.
Beautiful park with lots great hiking opportunities. The one down side is the neighboring military base was active with helicopter and rapid gunfire into the night.
Lovely place to go for a walk. Well maintained trails and great scenery. Not a ton to see from the old settlements, this the 4 stars. Great place for a walk.
We stayed here two times in the last month. The sites and hiking was great. The bathrooms and showers were pretty gross. It was because of the tree things getting dragged in. Overall we liked the place and I would be back, but not to take a shower.
Very pretty, boards were interesting but the ox river crossing info board was missing? Other than that great, the walk was nice and peaceful and the trees made for great sunny then shade so you dont overheat
Beautiful state park where Crow Wing and Mississippi rivers meet. Nice shady, relaxing sites, well marked trails all 14 miles near or along the rivers. A lot of history dating back to 1700s..Will definitely return.
Beautiful forested trails and a fun historic day trip from the Twin Cities!
A very well maintained state park that has a lot of history behind the land, as well as very nice trails along the mississippi river with some picturesque segments, highly recommend
Nice section of the trail leading from the park towards Baxter, wide path with gentle turns and hills to make it interesting yet easy for walking, bikes or other modes of travel.
Very nice campsites along the Mississippi River. Hiking trails, Paul Bunyan bike trail, and kayaking the river give you lots of options.
Beautiful State park. Great for a short walk or long. In peaceful, never busy.
Nice park, enjoyed the trails, facilities were good.
The camp site was OK, a bit plain for the price of $22, but the process for making the reservation was outrageous. I had to wait for more than 20 mins on hold then was cut off and had to call again. I think Ill be staying g in private camps from now on, even south Dakota has a better system than this.
Beautiful place beautiful trails they have cabins tent camping and space for RVs they have outhouses real bathrooms and shower houses it was an awesome day trip
Nice hiking trails. Townsite walking tour was worth the walk.
Awesome park with great trails for the family. There is some interesting historical data here for those who want to stop and read the plaques.
Rich in History. Lots of walking trails. Clean, well kept and quiet.
Sites are a little closer together than other parks but still nice with great trails. Was a little buggy July 2020 so bring lots of bug spray.
It was A great experience.
Lucky to have great weather for tent camping. Dog friendly but lots of barking in the morning when our group was there. Great staff working at the park.
This state park is beautiful and has rich history. The trails are groomed well, watch out for poison ivy on the edges tough. Camping spots are perfect, bathrooms are clean. We plan on coming back often.
Interpretive trail through the old town was interesting.
Very beautiful views song the river. Its a fun and reasonably ready walk
Very nice outdoor experience
Wonderful park with interesting history
Quiet, beautiful place with lots of significant history hidden behind a docile Mississippi river and grassy trails.
Visited today, 09/08/19. What a beautiful place, and so much interesting history. Beautifully maintained trails and park in general. Will definitely be going back. Huge, hard to see it all in one day.
Decent facilities, nice trails. Hand dryer from mens room can be heard throughout campground. Every time its used. Bathroom/shower small but well maintained. Friendly staff. Our tent site (12) very sloped and we had to put tent on driveway, and we still slid down inside tent. Other sites were bigger and more level. Staff came through at quiet time to make sure it was quiet and comes through frequently all day/night. Felt very safe with small child playing.
Nice and big group camp area. Just way too many bugs though.
Great place for a walk. Just check yourself for tics on the way out.
Great history! Great hiking! Very few electric sites. No swimming.
Nice hiking along the Mississippi River.
Nice trail system next to the Crow Wing confluence. Very scenic.
Rode the bike trail from the park to about 50 miles out and back. Its a beautiful Park that seems very underused. I nice little gem with a pretty river view and beach.
Really nice park to hike and bike
Really cool state park with a lot of great, great history. Named after the crazy fur trading settlement town....think Deadwood but in Minnesota, or the outpost in the Revenant, thats what this state park is named after, not the county. Nice facilities, great boat ramp, and overall a pretty good sized state park worth camping at for a weekend.
Great way to spend an afternoon.
Its a pretty nice park! With great camping sites! Though the showers could really use some updates.
Rented a canoe for the first time in September and really enjoyed it.
Awesome site! plenty of fish and foraging opportunities. Excellent trails for bike and hike!
Nice little park
Great park. July brings misquotes so dont forget the bug spray. Nice walking trails
Great place, when we visited there were very few people there!
Quiet camp ground, many good trails. Good place for kids!
Great spacious site
Beautiful, scenic
Nice campground. Historic tornados and good trails. On the Mississippi.
Lovely trails and a history lesson surrounded by a village that is no more.
Really set up nice, plenty of space between sites. Lots of hiking trails. Very quite atmosphere, even when the campground is full.
Neat place lots of historic sites
Beautiful hiking trails. Clean facilities. Well sized camp sites.
Great cabin to stay in. Good screened in porch. Good trails and a interesting historical site to visit. My family rented a canoe, $15 for four hours, and had fun paddling up the Mississippi River and floating back down.
Its a good place to get away from it all
Very peaceful Park.
My daughter got married there today. We all enjoyed the park & amenities tremendously it was beautiful there
Nice park with well maintained trails. We did the Hiking Club trail this time but will be back for more!
I enjoy coming to state park and ride through forest on my bicycle on Paul Bunyan State Trail. Its a peaceful ride through state park.
Bring repellent you will need it. If you do not bring it the park will be a miserable experience for all parties involved. That is unless you enjoy being bothered by flying insects. The park rangers on site were also very helpful in pointing out short trails for myself and the dog. Overall a great experience one of the better state parks Ive been too.
I love the park and the history of the area that I learned here
Nice little state park and right on the way going north and going home.
Great park for hiking and paddling.
Camped for the weekend, very few people there and the colors of the leaves were pretty amazing
Typical State Park. Nothing extraordinary but nice. A lot of history there, very interesting historically speaking.
Love the group site. Very spacious, love the shelter home they have for food storage, love that Mississippi River is just down the hill, love that the parking space is just inches from us. Great place for large groups
It was very nice quiet peaceful not lots of people and it was very wet and places though with all the rain that weve had but it was very enjoyable
Nice park with good views of the (quite small) Mississippi. Large network of loop trails that are not well marked - could use more signs and trail markers.
Nice trails
Great trails! So cool to walk along the Mississippi river. Amazing historical sites! Ticks are notorious and plentiful.. just check yourself afterwards.
It is a great combination of outdoors and history!
I love to pedal bikes to the Crow Wing State Park from Baxter along the paved trail.
Great experience at Mills Ford everytime Ive visited.
The noise from camp Ripley was crazy! The first night they were shooting off heavy artillery until 1am. Whomp BOOM over and over every 10-15 minutes for 5 HOURS!!! The second night didnt have artillery shooting but the noise from the highway/freeway was just as bad! There was not a single mosquito but it did snow like 3 days before we went up. The campground was nice, the guy at the office wasnt great, but ok. The signs around the park desperately need to be replaced. Many neat historical things were impossible to read! Idk if we will go back EVER!
Sites, bathrooms were clean. Trails are wonderful.
Beautiful state park along the Mississippi. Camp sites were somewhat secluded and trails came right out of the main camp area. Only downside was it was pretty sandy. Still better than the gravel you find elsewhere.
Well kept. And quiet
This is a great State Park just off the regular route from Minneapolis to Baxter. There is a nice self-guided tour of an almost forgotten ghost town. Great stop for a stretch on the ride north.
Beautiful!
Campsites and historic areas arent plowed in winter, guard shack has irregular hours.
Gorgeous park, very peaceful over night stay, very helpful staff
Nice small park. Conveniently located close to Brainerd. Campsites are large and well maintained. If you dont need electricity I would advise avoiding the main loop near the bathrooms. Those sites are right on top of each other. The outer loop sites are spaced much better. Nice easy hiking trails and the historic site is interesting to walk through.
We went on a fun winter hike the day after Thanksgiving to walk off all of our Turkey and Stuffing. We enjoyed the views while hiking along the river and had fun exploring the historical markers. We will definitely be back again!
Peaceful river scenery, nice campground.
Didnt get a real chance to look around because it was cold and windy. But would like to go back and actually get a chance to do that.
Crow wing state park has a lot of nice walking trails that are groomed and at the interactions is a map to follow. As you walk they have some signs giving you some history about the area.
Great historic park right on the river.
Beautiful scenery along the Mississippi River, plenty of local wildlife to view and watch while your tossing out a line or walking the trials.
The hiking was great. The path along the river was so lovely.
These 5 stars are for the ranger who helped my husband and I. I think the park rangers name is Barry. He was super useful and knows some really nice spots/hidden gems near the state park! Kudos to the park ranger.
Great park with some fun history. Very few people seem to be there, at least when I go. Definitely bring bug spray. Lots of mosquitos and ticks... At least this time of year (early June)
It was my first time camping and the park ranger was very nice, he gave me a map and some fire wood. 10/10 would go again
Beautiful state park along the river. Many good hiking trails, boat landing, and history. Fall is a great time to visit; few people and no mosquitoes!
