We attended Saturday nights open gym. (Oct 3rd), we were SHOCKED to see NOT ONE staff member, & only a handful of adult customers wearing masks!!! We asked why? We were told, No reason for masks anymore WHAT????Yet, each child still had their temperature taken before entering the gym.We still HAVE to wear masks in Publix, Sams Club, Elementary Schools, etc, why not Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics? There was a large crowd Saturday night, appeared to be more then 50 children, which meant at least 50 to 80 Adults. And, it was perfectly safe to not wear a mask? We understand children dont need to wear them while on the floor. At least it helped with our decision, regarding where we wanted her to learn gymnastics. Were just curious, who made such a dire decision, that masks were NO LONGER required? This is the 1st time weve heard this decision in approximately 7 months. We also pray NO ONE who attended carried the virus & gave it to others who attended. VERY POOR decision, in Our Opinion.
Great place to learn the sport! My daughters been there for few years always nice and friendly!
My daughter started at Lakewood Ranch almost four years ago after suffering a back injury at her last gym. The owners and coaches at Lakewood Ranch provided every thing my daughter needed to be an elite gymnast. My daughter repeatedly said she would not ever go to another gym because she loved her coaches and the training too much at Lakewood Ranch and would not want to go to a gym with mediocre training. If your daughter is interested in being trained by the best and competing against the best competition then Lakewood Ranch is the answer. We can only speak for the competitive program and we loved the structure and seriousness of all the coaches. They take their job serious and it shows in the girls. To no fault of the gym or coaches we are writing this review to thank the gym because our daughters back injury from years ago has caused her to Take a break from the sport she loves. Thank you to Laura and all the coaches, you have had a positive impact on our daughters life and we are grateful for all you have done for our daughter. Thank you and good luck this season. —The Brush family
Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics has an amazing and knowledgeable coaching staff, and a friendly atmosphere. Whether you are just starting out in the sport or have experience, this gym has a place for you and will make you feel like part of the family. We love it!
My daughter loves this the place! I highly recommend this gymnastics.
My daughter has been there since July and is by definition a special needs child. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about putting her into gymnastics but I have to say that it has been one of the best things for her. We have had coaches Courtney, Kirsten and now Kara and while she has setbacks at times she has grown incredibly. The staff has been beyond kind and supportive towards her (Jill has been great helping to find the right coach that fits her current needs) and I am so thankful to all her coaches and the owners for all they do. Best gym ever, nowhere else we would rather be :)
Definitely recommend LWRG. Our daughter was fortunate to train here for several years and was proud to represent them at meets. Great staff (Caroline and Dali), superb facility, and wonderful lessons in life made. We highly recommend LWRG to anyone wanting to try gymnastics, for recreation or competing. Life is good at the ranch.
I would like to comment the Stephanie’s M review.First of all my son is not bullie! You do not have a right to judge and call 7 years old boy such horrible name! Both boys jumping, played and kicking each other, and my son wasn’t the initiator of this, he just answered and it was confirmed on video. I know that coach always pay a lot attention to discipline in the boys class and if he saw something wrong happened he put them in “time out” for couple minutes. For 7 months I have never seen any problems like you described. From time to time new boys joined the class and of course there never were any bullying situations. All coaches and staff are professional and polite. Man coach always control and handle any conflict situations that can happen among boys 6-8 years old. How you could create such a terrible idea, that boys (just one year older than your son!) choose new target every class and bullying him! This is absurd!Lakewood Ranch Gymnastic is a good and safe place for kids, and coaches teach children not just gymnastics skills, but how to be a good person, and I am very grateful for their job!
My daughter has been a member for three years now. This is a fantastic facility with amazing owners and coaches. She has progressed so much and we sincerely appreciate all the coaches that worked with her so far: Coach Jill, Sara, Kara, Sophia and Antonio. This facility has increased my daughters self esteem and has taught her patience, attention to detail and determination.I highly recommend this facility for open sessions, kids have an amazing time playing and practicing while monitored by some great group of ladies. If your child is aspiring gymnast or just wants to have a summer fun this facilities summer camp is the one for you. My daughter attended for a month and loved it.The only recommendation I have that zero bullying tolerance is applied during the open sessions regardless of status. Kids are kids but name calling and pushing should not be tolerated in any dose. With owners being involved and such great people I have no doubt that such issue will be addressed accordingly.
Very happy here. Yes - they teach top-quality gymnastics. They do this by having coaches who foster an environment that makes the athletes want to work to achieve their goals. They also teach about teamwork, the importance of training, and following directions. All very important lessons for gymnastics, and for life. They have instilled confidence in our daughter to be able to perform in front of spectators and judges - something that she would not have been able to do before.
My daughter, Rowan, went to classes at LWRG for 10 months under Coach Jill. The only reason we left was because we moved out of the area. We loved this gym and staff so much. Just exceptional. I don’t have one single complaint. Our experience was so great and Rowan loved her class and Coach Jill so much. Now that we’re looking for a new gym in our new area, we realize how truly amazing LWRG is because we haven’t found a gym that compares to them!! Highly recommend this place!
(I accidentally deleted my old one) I joined the gym two years ago not expecting to excel at all but that wasnt the case with amazing coaching and wonderful people around me I learned new skills and am now in excel gold Lakewood ranch is the place to go if you wanna grow as a gymnast.
They are wonderful. My grand daughter loves it. Everyone is so nice its hard to get away sometimes. Maybe they will add a 24/7 schedule. :) Great people all around. Coach Andy has impressed me with how he works with these future Olympians/Gold Metal winners. Its amazing!!!
My daughter Sky has been at LWR gymnastics for about 6 weeks now and after trying many activities she has finally found her niche. She loves it there and they are just fantastic!!! She has been to Summer camp there and loved every minute of it Coach Madison was amazing as well as everything else. If you are thinking of sending your child to gymnastics send them here. 5 stars!!!
What a great facility and training center Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics is. Im Jenna, coached by David and Laura (owners of the facility) from age 12 until I graduated high school with an athletic scholarship. This gym is not just about gymnastics; it’s about the relationships built with your coaches, teammates that become lifelong friends, and lessons learned every day in the gym that are applicable to everyday life such as respect, communication, and trust.Laura and David are two of the most important people in my life that I will cherish and value forever. Without their support, care, and push I would not be where I am today. Yes, there were hard times in my career at Lakewood, times so rough that I wanted to just be done. However, these two with the most determination to make their athletes the best of their abilities, made the work so much more worth it. At this point, I dont even consider them coaches, more as parents or family. They motivate me every day and I am so blessed to be able to still be a part of their lives. I am now a Sophomore in college on athletic scholarship in Texas, living the dream. The dream they believed that I could achieve and pushed me every day to make sure I made it.I highly recommend this facility because I know your children will be in GREAT hands. It is a lot of work and determination to get to where I am at and Laura and David made sure I was ready for it. Coming into college as a freshman, I was much more in shape and ready for any kind of change than everyone else because I was prepared so well in club.Whenever I am home for break, Im normally always in the gym. Just cant seem to get enough of the place. I was so fortunate to be given an opportunity to work out in this amazing facility and I hope you will see that your child will benefit immensely in this program as well.
My daughter loves this place! We tried out a couple of other facilities in the area and my daughter did not want to do back. We both love the teaching methods. They let the kids enjoy themselves but also keep them in line as if they were in school to not disturb the kids that were more focused. The ladies in the office are very friendly and always greet us with a smile. I do not seem to have a problem with parking but then again it may be her class time. The only complaint I do have is that I wish there were a couple more options for later classes in the week. My daughter does not leave school until 4pm and I work until 5pm so there is no way we can go for a 4:30 or 5:30 class time.
Fantastic facility. Daughter loves it and has loved all of her teachers.Great daycare also.Only complaint is parking, lot of people, no where near enough parking.
Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics is not only a gym, but also a place where your child can bloom and learn valuable life skills, whether they are on the recreational or competitive team. My child has learned how to become a strong and determined young lady through her experience at LWRG. Her and I have created strong friendships through her sport over the past five years, because their gymnasts and parents are truly exceptional people. This gym is a place where respect rules between teammates, parents and coaches. The Coaches are very professional, and I always felt like my child’s safety was a priority. I feel privileged to have been part of the LWRG family. Definitely THE Best gym in Florida.
UPDATE: wow, what a response. And as in every aspect of society today no one is willing to accept criticism or responsibility for anything. In speaking with the coach that day we accepted responsibility for my sons actions and assured them it would not happen again, but that he was defending himself. The coach said the other student did nothing at all, yet I have three people in the gallery that saw everything that happened - and we were never contacted. We tried to get in touch with ownership and no one would respond. Neither the coach nor the facility will accept responsibility for the other child kicking my son. The office staff acknowledged an issue with the other student and apologized, and we tried for a week to get responses and was never told they were looking into it. We do have a voicemail from the office staff saying they don’t want a negative review online so we can have passes. But it’s not worth it. It’s ok, we at a much better facility with better set up and much better program where we are thriving. Everything happens for a reason, and I don’t like leaving reviews but when we are told don’t put a bad review I have to be honest. I just wish more people could do the same. And we never asked for a full refund, just the annual fee since we didn’t finish the month and would not be coming back. We thought as a customer courtesy this would be appropriate.I would not recommend this gym for recreational classes, especially for boys. My son along with others were bullied and purposefully kicked by a long time student which managemt acknowledged, but made excuses for. When we asked for the annual fee to be refunded they stated that they will not do that but to avoid a bad review online we could have two free open gym passes. Our response was no thanks, if my child is bullied and kicked in a structured class, what would happen to him in an unstructured open gym.Details: we started with a free trial class for my 6 year old son. First class went ok, we thought it was odd that the boys class was relegated to a small corner of the gym barely visible to the parents sitting upstairs and had very little use of equipment. Each class we began to notice that two boys in the class seemed to pick on a different child in class each week. By the 3rd week my son was the target but this time the bully got physical. He was karate kicking my son during warm ups, after the third kick while I went downstairs to speak with management my son was moved because he retaliated and pushed back. The Manager spoke with the coach and they assured me it won’t continue. Well it did and the bully kicked my son again where my son protected himself. Again my son was taken out of class. I Tried speaking to the coach and he would not entertain the idea that the other child could bully or hurt my son, my son took the blame. We tried speaking to management and they said they understand our concerns and acknowledged they know the boy we said bullied our son and they know what happened in class when My son was kicked but made excuses for the boy doing it. There is nothing that makes this acceptable, all we asked for was the annual fee refunded, not the full amount we paid for the month and didn’t finish the classes because we were not confident he would be safe in class. The gym was more concerned with a bad review - not the safety of my son.
Not a totally bad experience until today. When Judy from the gymnastics office calls me after two months since my daughter finished the school year to tell me I was behind on my payments. Mind you before going to summer break, I had told them that my daughter was going to be out of state for the summer. They let me know that I was going to have to register again for the upcoming school year and didnt ask me to put it in writing. When I told her (Judy) this, she let me know that everyone knew about their policy...so I told her (very mad) that I would pay as soon as possible and I hung up the phone.A few minutes later I had to call back, cause it is just not fair that I have to pay, since I had already told them she wasnt going to be there for the summer, and they had NEVER before today communicated with me. So I let Judy know that I was not going to pay absolutely nothing...that is where she hung up the phone at me...and now I am letting you know....They are disorganized and RUDE!
Rude people, well below average training compared to other programs in the area.
Great facilities, nice coaches
