A lovely park with a variety of facilities. The views are beautiful and its easy access to some open space trails. Bathroom facilities on site.
This pond is one of my most relaxing spots. I really enjoy watching the geese.
Plenty of space to spread out in this well loved neighborhood park.
Pretty simple disc golf course. Fun though
My favorite park in Boulder. It has spectacular views and so many fun paths and little exercise activities around the lake. Plenty of wildlife to watch, definitely a ton of goose poop. It also has good picnic areas covered and uncovered. Part of an episode of Broad City was filmed here and Abbi Jacobson has walked these bridges. Epic.
Great little park around Viele Lake. The picnick shelters could use a good degreasing and power washing.
Nice cool shady spots for picnics and relaxing!
EXCELLENT place for goose watching... or is it geese watching..?Either way, I LOVE it.
Sweet lil course. Can throw two rounds n walk one. Not very hard though...
Beautiful and filled with wild life. Blue green algae warning!
The beauty of this area is something else
Peaceful, spacious, and A+ views of the mountains across the water
Good playground. Nice lake with running path and exercise stations. Rec Center at north end has gyms, exercise classes, exercise equipment and free weights. Good picnic spots
Nice path and playground with great views
Great frisbee golf course, and beautiful views
Wonderful, scenic neighborhood park adjacent to South Boulder Rec Center and Disc golf course. Dog leash required. Fishing. Boating (bring your own). Approx 1 mile loop walk around the lake. Restrooms. Kids playground.
Free parking, lots of space, beautiful lake.
The disc golf course is limited to 9 holes. Theres limited flat space for field sports and the pond can get a little ripe in dry years. On the other hand, if youre just looking for a pavilion to hold a party in a park or a place to walk your dog, its pretty good.
Great park for kids and groups. Nice to have shelter from sun
Always well maintained. Great job on the ice-free pathways.
My Mothers memorial tree is planted there by Boulder Parks and Recreation.
Beautiful park lots of carp
Very beautiful place .. I really recommend it for families and people who are looking for a quiet, relaxing and comfortable place for outing.
Super nice disc golf course in my top 5 for sure.
Close to town beautiful lake bike trail by the disc golf great place to play disc golf nice grass hard to lose discs
Nice, well kept playground. Very nice gazebo for handling and eating. Plenty of shade trees in proximity to the lake.
Beautiful grounds with play areas for kids of all ages. Parking lot nearby has a dawn to dusk bathroom that is good enough in a pinch. Sidewalk pathways meander around the lush landscape complete with a picturesque bridge and water fowl grazing. Excellent for kids to play.
Beautiful and not busy
Beautiful views
So fun. Great playground. Beautiful reflection of mountains in lake. Very chill
Its beautifully structured, lots of trees, has huge field. Baseball, bathroom, parking, nice for picnics, take your dog
Great place to sled for free!
Four stars only because at times this park is a mess of goose poop. Otherwise, there is so much to do here!Frisbee golf, walking paths, also great for kiddos learning to ride bikes, fishing ponds, clean playground, open grassy areas to enjoy and located immediately adjacent to the South Boulder Rec Center. This is a beautiful, sunny spot to enjoy time in Boulder.
I dont want to be tracked.
Great expansive park! 4 sand volleyball courts, disk golf, tennis courts, and a rec center with a great pool right by. My favorite park in Boulder. You can see the Flatirons and have a great view of the sunsets.
The dog and I had a great walk!
Beautiful and peaceful place. Great views!
Love this park. Lovely pond and geese.
Unbelievable sunset, small pod beautiful scenery. Locate at Fairview High School Boulder.
Relaxing area
Not enough fish to go fishing
Love the playground here! Lots to play with!
Great for kids to practice bike riding
Best park in Boulder. Great views of the mountains.
They missed an opportunity here, not too sure I like the boule baskets for each hole for the disc golf course but with such a small area I guess they felt they needed to do something unique. And since its 1 of 2 courses in Boulder itll do. Its not super challenging but I can throw a quick round and stay in form when I need to.
Theres a nice 9-hole disc golf course here behind the rec center. Not many obstacles (its more-or-less open), but the holes are switched around fairly frequently so the course changes up. Its also not a popular course, so you rarely need to wait to tee off.
Great spot to get on the trail!
Straight up legendary disc golf course. Im not here to say its the toughest or most exciting course... but it is legendary. Highly, highly recommend. (Might just be legendary to me as it holds a certain place in my heart of hearts)
Too bland
This is my favorite park in Boulder. There is always room in the parking lot, unlike many other parks, and there is a new, modern bathroom facility. There is a spectacular view of the flatirons from the lake. The lake is beautiful, with a scenic arched bridge connecting 2 peninsulas of land that jut into the lake. There is a cement walking path going all the way around the lake. There are also dirt footpaths going along the shore of the east and south sides of the lake. You can take footpaths out onto little tiny spits of land that jut into the lake on the south shore and feel like youre alone in the wilderness on your little spit of land. The picture I posted on Google Maps is from one of those points. The lake attracts waterfowl, not just the usual Canadian geese and red winged blackbirds, but also grebes, and once I saw a black crowned night heron. There is a high school just east of the lake, up on the hill above it, but I have never seen the park overrun with hoards of students, so that is not a problem.
This South Boulder park always has ample parking. A few years ago they added a nice restroom as well. The lake is the center piece of this park and beautiful to walk around. Right next to the South Boulder rec center, Fairview high school and the Shanahan Ridge trail. The only downside is that the lake attracts a lot of geese so there is always a lot of goose poop everywhere.
Great place for kids
Possibly the best views of the flatirons you could ask for. Tucked away in a nice neighborhood, a man-made lake and disc golf course nestle up to the South Boulder Rec. center nicely. Well worth a visit!
Beautiful place
Very nice outdoor area with access to trails
Great neighborhood park with a walking path, playground, and fitness circuit
This is a small dog park with no room for walking laps. This park is best for throwing a ball with your dog. Separate areas for small and large dogs. The little lake is fenced off because it is not healthy for the dogs to play in.
Caught a few 12+ rainbow trout during my last visit.
Grew up here and its amazing
Disc course has zero direction and awful layout. Literally unplayable. View was decent though
Tons of algee...
This is a nice park around Viele Lake with equipment for adults and children. The paths can be busy when school starts on week days at 8am. There were many people with dinner picnics on a Friday night.
Honestly my favorite local disc golf course, alternative pin locations mix it up a bit.
Beautiful park with lots of open space. I love coming out here when I visit my grandparents and other extended family.
Beautiful park surrounding a pond. Great for jogging, biking, or even fishing. I recommend checking out the goats and llamas on the south side of the park.
Very nice park for get togethers. Pretty view.
Clean with great scenery.
It is a pretty park but the play structure has no shade, my kiddo and I were burning up. Great lake to run around but hard to take advantage of that with a toddler.
Rec center sells some discs for disc golf, nice none hole course behind the rec center
I grew up in the area and the park only gets better.
A nice spot with mature trees and a pond. Watch out for the geese!
Beautiful
Harlow Plattes Community Park is AMAZING!
Charming community park. Has walking paths and an exercise course around the lake.
Beautiful park with a view of the flatirons with Frisbee golf for socializing.
I love coming here because it has a bug feild in which you can play Frisbee golf, a playground for the kids and a beautiful river and path for jogging, walking or biking
Viele lake is full of goose poop and there are tons of geese, also there is no flow in and out of the lake so dont expect to go swimming. There is a nice path leading around the lake that is great for running laps or walking the dog
Unfortunately my group came to have a bbq in the rain, but the park is nice and well kept. There is a lake and a playground, and lots of soft grass.
Beautiful park. Avoid getting near geese with young ones, they sometimes attack dogs & people.
Great location with such beautiful views and amenities. Its well maintained and has something for everyone!
Best spot for sunset views and disc golf! It also has a paved walking trail around a pond, a playground for kids, and gazebos with grills.
Ive visited this park since I was a kid. Its a nice place for locals to walk around the lake or take their kids, but there are a lot of geese that leave droppings and the water isnt very pleasant.
This would be a great place but there is far too much goose poop. On everything. Everywhere. Yuck.
This is the neighborhood I grew up in. Love it!!!
