I had a good time here in April for some isolated camping. There is plenty of space and decently flat ground. I didnt like the amount of trash everywhere in the woods. When i saw someone leave they left all of their trash in the fire bit. I can see thia please being a good time. I spent half the day picking up trash and a few weeks of that might clean that place up a bit. It is nice otherwise

Free dispersed camping. Only one spot is accessible without a high clearance vehicle

I will say it is gorgeous to wake up to mother nature! However, there are only 15 sites available so Id recommend getting there early so that you can get a spot. Also, be prepared for very rough terrain. Im talking gravel, potholes, large rocks and branches in every road. A 4x4 would be highly recommended.

All in all it’s a good spot for some dispersed camping. Don’t come here if you’ve got a low clearance car

This is a rugged and rocky terrain in the Roosevelt National Forest with beautiful views and plentiful in wildlife. 226 is a dirt road with rocks dotting the stretch and parts where it becomes very rough and bumpy and at some points, deeper in, inaccessible, except to 4 wheel drive and private cut offs. My first 2 days i spotted a couple moose, one each day, both bulls, and got alot of video and photography. End of day 2, i was stalked by coyote, after dark, hiking a trail back to camp. Great camping experience. Worth the trip.

The road was a little rough for a passenger car but the absolute beauty of the area was well worth it. If you stay there you must head in to Nederland just a few miles away. The cutest little town ever!

Overall great experience. Apparently cops patrol this place every morning which is annoying... You cant go anywhere without them being there asking questions and bugging you. Otherwise great secluded area for some nice camping. You also get a cell signal here which is a nice bonus for emergencies!

We’ve camped here a couple years in a row, early in the season... which would definitely be my recommendation. It’s a popular area for transients to set up and you find some weird things there and a fair amount of trash, but if you go early enough in the season, it should be pretty clear still. It’s free and in a pretty setting. Not too high, making the early and late season camping trips not too cold.

Packed during the summer with transients and dirty hippies. Cant leave your stuff unattended itll get stollen. Best thing to do is wake up at 6am and empty magazines outta all of your firearms to let everyone know youre ready to party. Happy camping, hopeless dregs!

This place could be a gem, I stayed at site 2 in a front wheel drive van. Only issue is others not picking up and leaving garbage and toilet paper all over. When you get to a spot, grab a bag and pick up what you can and pack out. Leave it better than you found it .

Great camping spots, but beware if you do not have high clearance and good tires. The photo below is where my sedan decided we were going to stay on one of the few campsites before this hill haha. Pretty steep grades throughout. I think there may have been a vault toilet at the beginning of the two track but thats it .

When I stayed there there was someone having a psychotic meth break furiously screaming profanities and threats at the top of his lungs for 30 minutes at 3am, until the police came. I dont know whether it was a frequent resident but there was at least one campsite set up with a generator and it was coming from that direction. Also I found a mysterious shallow grave right next to the site I was sleeping in, amongst all the rubbish left by previous campers. People were leaving in the dead of night to get away from this incredible meth hulk before he started taking his aggression out physically. Hopefully this is a one-off, but I wouldnt be game to go back.

It’s a great place to get away from the city. Obviously when you are close to the city you’ll get a lot of unconscious behaviors but it is what it is. I always pickup garbage left behind by previous campers. This place would be awesome if there were a better water source nearby and a place to put garbage. However with a little traveling you can find great water (city of ward and caribou rd have fresh water to the public) and you can dump your garbage in Nederland for 2 dollars a kitchen sized bag. Happy camping!

If you love waking up to the sound of gunfire, like youve been recently dropped into a side street of Kabul Afghanistan - then good news, youve found your spot! Yes the sound of not so distant gunfire will provide the adrenalin you need in the morning to make up for the coffee you forgot to pack the following night. Not to worry though - officer Joe is very friendly and helpful - although lonely - if youre lucky enough he might just stop by your camp to say hello! All in all, this was the only place we could find that night where the camping was dispersed, and as officer Joe put it not suberb camping, thank you, Joe!

Great place to go ride atvs and camp. A little tough to get to camp sites with a 27 foot rv and a 20 foot trailer though. I wish people would clean up after themselves. Its your job as a human to take care of the places you visit. Leave your legacy by NOT leaving your trash and mark on the area.

While the scenery is fantastic at this site...there is no enforcing of rules or regulations. This was one of the dirtiest and unsafe campgrounds I have ever been to. Trash everywhere, very suspicous campers at everysite, camp fires (while a fire ban is going on), loud noises, ect... This campsite looked as if undesirable people had moved in for the summer.

This place is awesome. We stayed for two nights and did a little hiking in the area. Beautiful pine forest with some rocky hills throughout. Although its dispersed camping, you are required to camp in one of the 15+ sites scattered throughout the area. Most have fire rings.Only downside was the amount of garbage left from disgraceful campers. We picked up a bunch of it around our site (#5), but there were still some bags of it left that we couldnt pack out.Totally rustic (no bathrooms, no water). We were able to get to most of the sites in my Nissan Sentra, but a four-wheel drive vehicle with more clearance would be better.
