I really enjoyed my first (and only) visit to Salon. A striking display of mobiles (I mean kinetic art) tempted me in. There, the baristas were lovely and owner Amanda most engaging. . . the history, provenance, purpose of Salon. And, most importantly, they stock really interesting, (mostly) appealing product. In old Boston? Just do it.
Am a fan. Great coffee and interesting furniture.
Dont get me wrong, the furniture is really unique and the coffee is delicious, but out of the two times Ive been there I had one really unpleasant experience. I was sitting there with my friend having a latte when the woman who I believe is the owner or manager started reprimanding one of the employees in front of us! And it wasnt just a polite suggestion, she was practically yelling! It was really uncomfortable and REALLY unprofessional in my opinion. I want to support an art focused local business, especially one with such interesting products, but I dont want to support someone treating their employees poorly. I mean, if it happened while people are in the store I can only imagine how many times its happened without witnesses. Its a shame really...
