It’s not Vail, but if you’re in Iowa and can’t get to the mountains, this is a great place to learn and hone your skills. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and patient, the lift operators are all really nice, and overall you get a lot for your money. We had season passes and they were very well used. It’s also very well maintained and groomed!I also really love that I could get so many more runs in with shorter lifts. Thanks for a great season!!
Recently took a tubing trip with the family. Everyone had a good time. Very relaxing and beautiful scenery. Staff was friendly and helpful! Looking forward to our next visit!
Awesome fun...river was low and slow, but very relaxing and the kids enjoyed kayaking a lot.
I took my family to Seven Oaks on NYE. We had a great time. The best part was the FREE group lessons that they provide. There were more than enough instructors and they were all so helpful. This was probably the best part of the experience. I want my boys to start off right and the fact that they are free blew me away. To be honest, every single staff member was super nice and helpful. We will go back!
Fond memories of Seven Oaks. Was on the Ski Patrol here almost 20 years ago. Glad to see it’s still here and thriving!
We did a family river tube float trip. Tons of fun!
I go to Boone a lot. The staff is very friendly and the park crew does a good job regularly changing the features. As an experienced snowboarder that enjoys riding park, it is very difficult to ride park when the hill is basically a sheet of ice. I feel like they only make snow to maintain vs. creating quality riding conditions. I went on 1/11/20, and the hill was rock solid ice making it brutal to hold an edge, or hit any features. After about 30 minutes I left as the hill was just not in condition to be safe for park riders. I understand the weather is finicky and the warmer weather caused some challenges, but with temps dropping some fresh made snow would go a long way.Changed to 4 star. Appreciate the response and update. Thanks!
Awesome crew here. Great easy float with trains and wildlife. #WORTH
A friend and I went snowboarding for the first time here today, we’re both just out of college aged. We got set up with the mini lesson and it was amazing! They were not very busy so they were able to walk us through everything we needed to know; how to stand, move around then into actually moving on the board and eventually to the hill.If you are getting private lessons, or a mini lesson, ask for John! He was wonderful, passionate, and very informative. He went way above and beyond what he had to do! We’ll be back again before the end of the season!
Iowa isn’t as flat as Nebraska, but it doesn’t offer much for skiers. Seven Oaks is our exception. It is small, but a great place to learn with a well staffed bunny slope, and best of all, lights for night skiing when you are going after work. It will help you look forward to winter!
Love this place!!! Great skiing for Central Iowa. Plenty of snow making equipment for when Mother Nature doesnt cooperate and their man made snow is honestly some of the best Ive seen. We ski in Colorado and Montana a couple of times a year so have seen plenty of man made snow and Seven Oaks really has some of the best.
Got sick and couldnt go the float on the morning of. Technically could have but it being a pandemic in all not the best idea. The part of my group that went still got charged for us!So in summary they would rather have some who is sick during a pandemic show up rather than not charge. My advice would be to go with another company that takes covid seriously.
What a great little hill. Our 4 year old niece went with us and the instructors were not only amazing but free as well. It was pretty quiet the Sunday we went with discounted kids prices. This was our 1st time here and we cant wait to come back!!
We had so much fun here on a thursday night! $5 an hour for tubing! Cant beat that! The staff was super friendly and hills were a thrill!
My little human never even heard of snow skiing befor we went to Seven Oaks after an a private lesson they had him skiing all by him self my big human loved this place it mad him a kid again its a perfect place to learn or to hone in on your skills or just to have fun they do give free lessons on the bunny slope to get you going the tubing hill they have is fast and fun I loved flying down the hill I felt like superman the price is right the staff is super friendly and all the instructors nothing but nice and are very knowledgeable this place is just awesome my human is already planning another trip to Seven OaksFollow us on Instagram @g.o.a.t_adventures
This place was overall AWESOME! Had lots of fun with the family. We tried snowboarding, Patrick and Spencer helped us with our training.. They were both very patient and kind with my 4 year old. Definitely coming back!
Great time floating.
Go somewhere safer
For the Iowan terrain this is about as good as can be done. The runs are well taken care of and have about as much variety as can be packed into the small area.
In regards to a summer time tube float: The crew at Seven Oaks went above and beyond to accommodate my large youth group of over 100 girls. They were easy to work with and so friendly. They made sure we had tubes, life jackets, cooler tubes and kayaks all ready to go. Any time you are doing something with that many people it can get crazy, but the loading on and off the buses, the getting in and out of the river, the transportation, payment arrangements, communication- all of it was smooth. My girls had a great time and we hope to make this a yearly outing. We loved working with Seven Oaks and highly recommend them!
Spoke to someone on the phone on Thursday and explained that we were going to be in the area on Friday and would like to canoe. Placed a reservation on line for a noon launch and when we arrived were told that they had not put anyone on the river all week and were not putting anyone on until Saturday. Wouldve been nice if that would have been mentioned to us when we called. Paid for two nights in a local hotel so that we could go. Waste of our time and money. Very disappointed.
It was our first time at Seven Oaks and we went tubing as a family. Great service, great staff, well maintained equipment. Would recommend to others to try then out for winter fun.
We had a great time but what I want to bring attention to the staffFrom the time we checked in to the time we left we felt like we were treated like kings. When we arrived at the drop location you were organized. When asked what we rented without hesitation they grabbed the boats and put them in the water. Loaded us and pushed us out.Later on we stopped at the first bridge for a break and ran into another staff member clearing a path to the river. He took time to explain the bridges and the significance along with a few other facts about the river. When we arrived at the end of the trip we were greeted by two young men that came out and pulled the canoe and the kayaks up to the shore. They asked us how the trip went and told us to leave all trash in the boat but take out cooler to the top of the hill and look for an Astro van.The driver greeted us and immediately loaded our cooler and took us to our car.I have been on many float trips where we would assist loading and unloading the watercraft but not here…it was refreshing. You folks took care of everything for us and that impressed us beyond words. We are planning another trip later in the month and drag some of our friends alongI will highly recommend your company to others
First time skiing here and it was great! Friendly staff, nice facilities, well-groomed slopes, and $12 lift tix on wed/thur cant be beat! Theres enough terrain to keep things interesting for a few hours but I wouldnt think to ski here for a full day. My only complaint would be the hard-seat lift chairs -- they make for a cold tush on nights when its hovering above zero. Cushions are preferred, but thats not too big a deal.I will be back for more!
Be prepared to see many moving logs (beavers moving large logs the entire trip). Easy river for a non-experienced kyaker. Just sit and go with the flow paddle to avoid moving logs. Very peaceful.
Nice place. Well kept. Its small and is no Colorado slopes, but its an excellent place to learn extremely cheap. Highly recommended.
I love canoeing the Des Moines river. Seven oaks handles all the hustle and bustle of getting to the river and returning. Decent prices, almost double the price in Colorado for a comparable experience. I suggest this for all!
This review is in relation to the float trips only. The staff was pretty friendly and the drop off and pick up went smoothly. I was a little disappointed in the state of some of the tubes, definitely under-inflated. We had rented a cooler raft and when we got there we were given a tiny black tube to wrap around our cooler that didnt even keep it above water... I was a little disappointed in that as well. It was definitely a family environment compared to some of the floats Ive been on before which is nice, not a lot of drunks.
Great time the instructors are very informed and extremely easy to work with, best time I definitely recommend going there to work with them
Love the river float that we did. We had a blast and the staff was so friendly and nice!
Good times, thankful this is the only decent snow resort in the mid Center iowa.
I have went river tubing several times through this company and always had a good experience.
Nice facilities, ski conditions great, grand kids loved it.
Fun for my grandson. Clean friendly facility.
Great place to go skiing, it is just a bit pricey.
Best time there the people that teach you are nice they will help you though everything
The crew were very helpful. The skii slopes not so much. They have a free tubing 7-8pm, which is also a lot of fun!
We tried sledding and it was soo much fun! We were there from 11:30 am until about 1 and it was pretty crowded.
Snowboarding there is fun and the snow is great :)
Fantastic for skiing and snowboarding without having to drive to far.
Its a very nice place, the slopes are clean and they are friendly. A little pricey, but worth it.
Fun for the family, camping is inexpensive, great atmosphere, employees are very warming
