My husband and I made a last minute decision, bought tickets over dinner, and enjoyed all the singing, dancing and storytelling of the Horn in the West drama! This is a great option for a family event, date night, or just night out with friends. Outdoor theater has such a great atmosphere! Definitely bring a seat cushion and a blanket for when the sun goes down.
Went many years ago...a FIRST CLASS Production...Not to be missed.
The show was excellent but it was a little hard to hear at times in the back. The cast performed excellently and the staff was helpful. If I were to go back I would get the nicer seats further up though.
I really love this play. It’s definitely one of a kind and worth experiencing at least once. The gunfire is a little startling. It’s really nice to be outdoors in the mountains in the summer watching a play. It’s kind of a cozy with nature feeling.
Been going since I was a child. Always a great show
Its something to do, the fire dance was real cool
This is a very entertaining and educational outdoor theater drama about how Boone was settled. The show has been produced here for many decades and includes signing and dancing and is great entertainment for people of all ages. If you have a free night in Boone this is a GREAT experience. The show runs in the summer and is cancelled if it is raining. Make reservations prior to the show starting. Go an hour or two early and visit the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum right beside it. Have fun and be sure to leave them a review here!
Always a great experience & worth many visits!
Wonderful play, wonderful museum, wonderful people.
I love working with these folks with any events! A great place to take the family!
Traditional attraction for the high country
Good entertainment
Saw Horn in the West last evening and it was one of the best shows we have seen and we have seen lots of outdoor dramas. Attention to detail was outstanding from costume, to dialog, to action. Music was wonderfully used to enhance the entire performance and give a real flavor of the beginnings of mountain music. Even the light rain at the very end of the show could not dampen the experience. This is one of NCs best kept secrets and should not be missed. Great value at a reasonable price should encourage more folks in the area to attend.Suggestion: If funding is a problem going forward, perhaps grants or connections with the Fine and Professional arts at the University could help keep this telling of living history alive. One suggestion: child Jack was very hard to hear as was Danial Boone in the beginning!Congrats. to cast, crew, and all involved in this wonderful production!
The cast made you feel as if you were there in history as it was happening
Great outdoor play depicting historical events in the area. During Halloween they turn it into a haunted trail!
Well worth seeing. I will recommend to everyone.
Great entertaining outdoor show that teaches some of the history of the area and Daniel Boone.
