If youre into the Land of Lincoln and into Historic Route 66 you cant go wrong with making this a stop in your travels. The staff/hostesses are both friendly and informative. Lots of merchandise to choose from, lots of books to choose from, lots of info on Lincoln, restaurants, Route 66 memorabilia- too much to describe in detail. The tile work on the main floor is detailed and simply beautiful, showing off the expert craftsmanship of the original builders. Theres a McLean County museum on the second floor. The show stopper for us was the Pedal Car exhibit on the 3rd floor. Between 20-30 meticulously maintained pieces, most look like they were just taken out of the delivery box. For us it was the highlight of exhibits. Friendly people for staff and lots of stuff to see. And the picture shows a corny but fun photo op which we thoroughly enjoyed. Have fun and visit this place.
We have been having a blast during the Route 66 Festival. Free Trolley rides, selfies with Lincoln, complimentary horse Carriage Rides around the block, mini movies about David Davis and Lincoln, Classic Car DriveIn and soo much more! We havent even been able to touch on everything! Good thing its going on all weekend!
A fascinating part of the museum in the beautiful historic courthouse.
So much to see and learn. I could have spent all day here.
Very nice little exhibition & gift shop about Route 66. Their choice of books is one of the best and some of the gifts are nice & different from elsewhere.
There are a lot of displays in a small museum. Displays showcase several ethnicities that make up the town.
Its a fun place for me to take the kids. Abraham Lincoln is well represented
Its very knowledgeable in Illinois history. It shows all the cultures that Built This Town.
