Remodel has given new life to a great facility.
Very nice place to go skating. We rented skates for only $5 and paid another $3 for 1.5 hr.Had the ice nearly to ourselfs.
I brought my Son for a free try out class, everybody was so helpful some teenagers were helping our kids ice skating they were so nice with the kids. :)
Construction taking place. Enter at far north end of building only. Long walk if you park on South end. Normal door on West side is closed.
Its B.I.G.This is the mecca of youth ice hockey. The Miracle Team from the 1980 Olympics practiced here.2 standard rinks and 1 Olympic size. Ive been playing at this arena for the better part of 30 years, and its one of the best rinks in the country.
Fun place to be, good ice. Love it.
Decent place to play hockey. The locker rooms are spacious but could use an update. The ice was good.
Nice place, three rinks.
Once remodeling is done it will be great
Great building with lots of history surrounding it. In need of some minor improvements though especially with the locker room area bathrooms.
Bobby, Nancy, and the staff are always true professionals who are happy to see to your needs. 5 stars for sure.
Been to rinks that a much nicer!!
Well run facility with concession stand. Good viewing. Parking was good too.
Staff is very accommodating with multiple parties in rink 3 and no reservations. Even broke out additional tables and chairs for party that got to open skate late.
Great place!!! Was there twice last week. Rink two is a little chilly compared to the others and doesnt have very good seating. Hopefully you will be lucky and be on one or three.
Great place for Halloween for the kids. Little carnival games and candy trail!
Went ice skating here during an open skate time. Prices are amazingly reasonable. Rink wasnt crowded. Had a really great time.
We enjoy coming to this rink each spring to play in the Meltdown tournament. My only complaint is I wish they would turn all the lights on so pictures turn out better. Rink is close to the airport and Mall of America
Excellent. Needs some updates, but those will come summer of 19
During construction, it would be nice to also have a south entrance for tournaments.
More than a basic ice performance/hockey center. Seems to have an engaged community supporting the complex.
Very cold but tight locker rooms
Favorite rink in the world.
Nice rink three sheets of ice. They do a good job of sharpening skates.
B.I.G. is a great place to play hockey they have 3 nice rinks and overall a great facility
Good ice skating rink and food options!
Great place to skate and watch hockey! Great concession stand food! Concession managers who really care for their customers!
Well maintained facilities and family friendly programming all year round!
I watch a lot of hockey at BIG, and I spend quite a bit of free time at open skating there, too. Its a good facility - clean, the concessions are reasonable. The only thing I dont like about it is that most, if not all, of the rinks arent handicapped-accessible. My brother, who was unable to walk for a short time, wasnt able to get into Rink 1 without quite a bit of assistance from my parents up the steps (even to get a seat right next to the ice). The bathrooms are likewise non-accessible, being extremely cramped, they dont allow for access with wheelchairs (or, at least not with his wheelchair).
Nice rink. Clean and not too cold.
Stopped in to see a friends kid workout for the Minnesota Magicians. Nice place.
Nice arena, good consession stand as far as a rink goes.
Nice clean and always consistent ice.
Great prices not overcrowded
Rick solid ice arena! Great venue to bring the whole fam
Ice Garden Bloomington is the best pleace for iceskating...
Awesome !!! best figure skating and ice hockey arena in Bloomington period
Community Ice-skating Arena. The Bloomington Ice Garden has three full size rinks and food/drink concession.
Generally not too crowded, good prices for open skating for kids
Clean, easy to find your way around the arena.
This is my rink! Its a super high quality rink that trains, teaches, and entertains with public indoor ice skating, figure skating, hockey, pairs skating, and MIF.Three fantastic sheets of ice; Rink 1, an Olympic size rink with lots of seating (used for figure skating exhibitions, shows, and lots of hockey games. Rink 2, a standard rink with and overlooking balcony, used for FSCB (Figure Skating Club of Bloomington) practice ice, skate school lessons, and hockey practices. Rink 3, a standard size rink with bleachers on one side and hockey training on the other used mostly for hockey games, practices, and public open skate.Home to the Figure Skating Club of Bloomington! The FSCB is a great club (the only other club Ive found in the metro is the Figure Skating Club of Minneapolis) boasting elite athletes in Senior free skate, Sr. moves in the field and Sr. pairs, such as Kiri Baga (competed in the 2013 U.S. Championships Ladies free skate and pairs) and Kate Charbonneau, who both originated at our rink. Great coaches, off-ice programs, lots of ice time, fantastic opportunities for competitions and shows, including the Annual Bloomington Ice Show (March 14-16 this year, 2013).BIG has ice skating lessons which follow USFSA levels and run Snowplow Sam 1- Basics- Freeskate 6. Adult and hockey lessons are also offered. The lessons are a great deal and are taught by talented instructors who have trained athletes to their Junior or Senior levels.I dont know much about hockey, but I constantly see hockey practices and games (every time I go, which is often!), so I can tell you that there are plenty of hockey opportunities with BIG. All Kennedy and Jeffersons teams practice and play at the Bloomington Ice Garden.Whether youre looking for a place to skate with friends this weekend, a figure skating club in the area, or hockey lessons for your little boy, BIG is the place to go!-a BIG thank you!
Always been a great experience for the family.
Lots of stairs, and standing room only for the rink I was in.
We were put in rink 1, which is very cold for the spectators, also, there is no path around the rink, so players are forced to carry gear up the stairs and along the stands, then back down the stairs to reach the locker rooms.
Nice place to take kids
