This is a fantastic town park. There is a large wooden playground that has swings, monkey bars and lots of areas for kids to explore. There are also two more modern metal and plastic playgrounds. One is designed for smaller kids and one for bigger kids. Above the play ground areas are: tennis court, baseball field and a skateboarding park. There is also a CABOOSE in the middle of the park. If you have kids, this is a great place to spend some time. There are public restrooms near the caboose and by the baseball field. There are plenty of tables and benches for picnics.
Awesome Municipal playground with free parking. Lots of vestibular and sensory experience is available for any child from a little one to a big one. Public bathrooms are available with lots of grassy areas to play in too. Theres even a Big Caboose to climb on if you so desire. Theres also an Indoor Aquatic Center, softball fields, tennis courts, and soccer areas along with walking trails and picnic shelters in the area.
Such a cute place. Lots of parking. 3 playgrounds, a number of covered patios, tennis courts, an indoor pool, a skate park and more. Lots of green space and trees.
I played the 9 hole disc golf corse. It was very nice. You can find the layout for this corse on udisc app.
I love that they have three different play sets so you have lots of options. The only thing I did not like was the upkeep. The wooden play set needs a lot off work done. Several steps seemed to be leaning down, a lot if the wood is chipping off leaving it especially easy for splinters. (My son happened to get one) other then that we love this park.
I grew up with this park and I love it...but needs upkeep.
Well kept park with three playgrounds, a train caboose, picnic area and lots of running space. People of the area are cordial. FREE! Kids really enjoy it. Also has a swing for kids or adults with disability.
Great park. Tennis courts could use some maintenance.
Ive visited this park all of my life. The updates in the past years have brought it to a standard Im not used to seeing in a public park. Good restroom options.. covered tables and great equipment make this a go to destination to wear the little ones out... I mean...let them have fun :-)
Coolest playground Ive seen in a long time. Alot of craftsmanship went into building this playground. My kids love this place. I cant resist running around through all the maze like passages. Best park in Blacksburg/Christiansburg area.
Hand and hand park is a great, fairly large playground for kids of all ages. Its great to have birthday parties there if the weather is nice. And theyre pricing on renting a shelter is totally worth the money. They have great deals.
Municipal Park aka. Caboose Park is a staple for numerous family activities. We go often to the indoor pool, play tennis, soccer in the field or play on the Hand and Hand Playground. The gazebos are for rent or you can use them if they are not reserved as you wish. There is a skate park and baseball diamond and several sets of swings and slides. This is the spot to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July and the old N&W caboose is the kids favorite to play on. Its usually a first choice for the kids when we ask what they want to do. The reservations are on the town website and you call them to pick a date. Prices are about $30 and you get morning or afternoon blocks. Most have a grill and tables but no power or water. There is a restroom near the baseball diamond but just basic stuff.
The old style wooden playground is amazingly fun. My daughter and I ran around and played hide and seek and tag for hours. Also, much of that playground is shaded by big trees. I love older play structures because they often have shade. This is a good place to have fun with your kids for free! :-)
This is a nice large park, with multiple play areas. My kids love it.
Great place. We had a small party there for my nieces 4th birthday. Rented a shelter and pricing wasnt bad. Kids had a blast. I recommend this place for fun with th4 kids or a small get together/cookout.
My first time. Nice family park for all kinds taste. Play ground. Tennis. Skate boarders, trails, ball park. Soccer and more
Beautiful peaceful park.
Great concept just a bit run down, the wooden playground especially, but its a great place to bring the kids, bathrooms need an upgrade and better upkeep, shelters are great and trails
Three generations loved this park. We even had a baseball game on one of their ball fields. The little kids loved all the different play areas available and the caboose.
I found a castle made of wood there. The elves that dwell within its basement were mild mannered at best, and repeatedly asked for things and insisted I listen to their stories, most of which were pure nonsense. The architecture was fantastic despite a few flaws here and there.
Huge park. The want to play here for hours and never leave as they move around the playgrounds. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because for a large part of the year they bathrooms are closed to avoid freezing. I understand the reasoning, but wish they could figure something out, as there are times of the year when the weather is fine for playing, but has no bathroom available.
Had a wonderful time chasing around 4 kids!! Enjoyed the different challenges in the park
Very clean and my daughter loves it there.
Always a great time for the children here! Lots of variety and activities, and our son always has a blast making new friends. Definitely a popular staple for Blacksburg families.
I played here as a child and loved it! Now my son enjoys it too. Its his favorite park. Clean and restrooms on site.
We have always enjoyed the Caboose Park every since our Son was really young
Great park. Very unique and plentiful play structures.
Rented the big shelter for Cub packs end-of-year picnic. Plenty of space and trash cans. Easy access from the road.
Such a beautiful area we cannot wait to have our daughters birthday there
Lots of playground equipment for all ages. Comfortable shelters that you can reserve for your organization or family.
Love this park!! Theres a variety of equipment for all ages separated into three different playground areas, one of which is an elaborate wooden one. Lots of swing sets, including a handicap accessible swing. There are picnic tables and a gazebo, open field space, shady tree covered areas, and an old train caboose! A decent amount of parking space is available. Definitely a must-visit if you have kids!
I have spent many days & hours at this amazing park spanning over the last 36 years! With my children and grandchildren!
Great park for all ages. Plenty of things for children to do. Id like to see some areas of the park renovated because they appear to be deteroriated.
We love this park and visit often. Its three playgrounds in one spot. For newcomers people also call it Caboose Park or Hand in Hand Park. Its our favorite park in the area.
Great place for a family reunion,as we had.Or a picnic, and to take the kids. The bathrooms should be cleaner, but Ive seen worse.
Love this park, it has it all. Tennis, good playgrounds, nice restrooms, skate park, & a softball field.
Its a pretty nice park but nothing fancy
A great place to bring the kids alotta space....It was like 4 parks in 1....
Very nice park. Family friendly space.
Absolutely the best park for any kid. Its really big so they dont get bored of the same old stuff.
Very nice park. Lots for children to play on.
Nice fireworks show on 4th July in this small town.
I love this park. i love the underground wood tunnels
Decent park with multiple playground areas, public restrooms, pavilions and shade.
Great place to take kids.
Love this place to relax on a sunday morning.
Kids always have a great time here. And always make new friends.
Great place for kids, I particularly remember loving the caboose as a child.
Good not great but decent for a park.
Great place for people kids and Dogs excellent dog training class on Saturdays
It will keep your kids entertained.
Wonderful and huge park at the residential / urban edge of Blacksburg. Theres a huge playground for young kids, an entire train caboose to play on, tennis courts, a skate park, several fields, and a lot of other things around in the area like the aquatic center nearby.
Good place to come to for sports, swimming, you name it.
Tons of small, low to the ground areas for smaller children to play. High castles for older children to conquer, in the shade of trees and wooden so it doesnt get hot in the summer! Best place to go!
Awesome park and playground combo. Perfect for little and big kids. Plenty of free parking. Lots of green space for the animals. Covered picnic areas. Tons of cool playground equipment!
The bathrooms are sketchy but the park is amazing! My favorite local park to take my kids!
Nice park, nice view.
Three separate playgrounds suitable for a wide range of ages. Our kids are happy to spend all day there. Go early on hot days as the equipment can get pretty hot to the touch, but the wooden hand n hand area offers some shade.
Needs a little attention but still a great play place for kids.
Fun, lots of choices for playing!Good shade and rolling lawn. Clean enough restrooms.
Its a really really nice park but it could use some maintenance
The Park needs a make over. The wooden area especially. There were no splinters, but the wood needs replacing.
Neatest design of a playground in the are. Lots to keep kids entertained and even has bathrooms on site. Love it
Great, clean park with lots of play equipment. Bathrooms are usually closed though and it is a very long walk to the next nearest bathroom.
Great place for kids to play
Lots of play areas in this beautiful park.
Amazing always clean well maintained equipment
Lots of areas for kids young and older to play
One of my daughters favorite parks, 3 seperate playground equipments. Large grassy area, tennis courts and soccer fields.
Good place for kids and picnic time with family
The dad at the park with a gun on his hip made the kid swings look really safe.
Had this venue rented out for a department picnic. It was a great area, and the pavilion had a lot of space. It was raining the whole time, but there was plenty of space under the roof for the 25+ people.
Beautifull
Great park, our kids love it!
Great place for the kids
The disney world of playgrounds around here! Very cool place!!!
How a municipal park should be.
Awesome park. Favorite part is the wooden playground for kids. It is absolutely amazing. A lot of work and love went into it.
Nice shelters, good variety of park activities and equipment, convenient to campus via BT
Its a great park been going since i was a kid but its very trashed needs to be cleaned more often but again GREAT PARK
Amazing play spaces. Our kids have spend days, cumulatively, exploring Caboose and Hand in Hand (wood park) playgrounds.
Huge and fun for the little ones
Good fun with the kids.
Played here since I was a kid and loved it. There are 3 main parks, clustered together. A younger childrens park; small and not to high off the ground. An older childrens park- pretty high and with plenty of things to climb around on. The hand-in-hand park- all ages, constructed of mostly wood, with painted handprints on railings. Slides, tunnels, rope and tires leading up down or across a gap, and swings populate this larger park. Twisting, narrow passages and towers rise out of the vast structure. There is also a bright red caboose in the park- with the doors locked of course. Children can go up steps and turn the wheel, but not enter the caboose itself.
Great playground equipment for young kids, a nice skate park, an indoor swimming pool, a recreation center with indoor basketball/volleyball courts, nice softball field, open fields for soccer, flag football, and other activities, plus several picnic shelters.
Lot of things for kids to play with.
Good on the 4th of July
A beautiful and fun place with many areas to play.
A very awesome park. Its got tennis ball courts, multiple playgrounds, a skate park, and a train caboose
