Everything inside was great, but Im in the security business and there are one or two of those security guards I wouldnt hire. When we were outside after leaving the establishment we decided to get something from the vendor selling food. A SMALL commotion happened as a few people were leaving the establishment. There was a bald white security officer wearing a Safariland holster with the snap over clasp. His first response was to reach for his weapon. He didnt draw said weapon, but thats his response to a minor situation I would sure hate to see him if something major was to happen. Ive gone through the same training as him, and have even gone through some more enhanced training. Doing what he did should never be your first reaction when youre at work with 2 or 3 other guys out there to help with the situation. You shouldnt even be resting your hand on top of your weapon. Much less making an advance to potentially draw it. As armed security guards we dont vote by the same set of guidelines as the police. This isnt just my opinion its the truth of the responsibility that comes with being an armed guard. Sincerely, another white armed security guard.

This is a great place to gather and have a party. The staff was great and the drinks were reasonable. The DJ play music for everyone and gets to request quickly. The atmosphere is fun and safe. This is a staple of Birmingham nightlife and a must visit. Get there early because the line can get long.

Abysmal service, they once kicked me out for reading the issue date as the expiration date on my license, but that pales in comparison to tonight’s ordeal, slow staff created a bad experience even before I was kicked out after 2 drinks for a “dress code violation”; I was wearing a short sleeve under armor compression shirt under a tank top, and jeans. Bad business, bad service, weak drinks, tasteless music, 0/10 save yourself the ridiculous cover skip this bar completely and go to Marty’s PM a bit earlier.

This is place to go when everywhere else has closed and you dont want the night to end. It is one of the few places open past 3:00am the only other place that comes to mind is upside down. It is what you make it honestly.

They refuse to accept my legal form of identification. If it’s good enough for homeland security i would think it would be good enough for you hmm? When I asked them their only answer was “what if the abc comes in here?” and all I can is “yeah what if?? They will find a 23 year old with a non-expired state issued drivers license that matches her birth certificate” Overall would not recommend!!

Dont go here im a guy and the security is so paranoid they looked over the stalls when I was busy. I asked if he needed something and he just looked confused. But Ill be pressing charges have fun while its open

It is an okay spot if you just want a late night hang out and drinks with friends. The DJ is honestly average sometimes below average (unless hearing the same techno version of songs every week is your thing) but the atmosphere is worth at least one go around.

Always and I do mean ALWAYS party at Nana when my bestfriend come in town. This past weekend was MY LAST TIME.. I usually use my card when im drinking for the tab. Before leaving I tried clsoing out my tab HAD TO BE A NEW BARTENDER THAT TOOK MY CARD. because I never seen her before. Lets just make a Long story short MY BANK CARD WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND AND ALSO NO PHONE CALL OR APOLOGY MADE... NEVER AGAIN

Be prepared to wait in line for a long time, sign up for a membership and come dressed appropriately. No tank tops or gym-type pants for the guys. They will scan your license so dont try to sneak in a fake. You will bump elbows with everyone as you walk by, so hold onto your drink tightly. Head to the back bar for somewhat faster service.

I used to frequent nana funks maybe 11 years ago, and I went in tonight for a girlfriend’s birthday. Well after about 10 minutes, after paying $10 at the door, I decided I needed to go home and asked if I could have my money back. I was literally there for maybe 10 minutes like I said. No one was there, no DJ, nothing... crickets.. asked the bearded guy at the front for my money back, and he told me I needed to ask a manager.. asked for a manager, and all the manager said was. “ that was an entry fee.. I’m trying to run a business “ I said...” I understand business and that’s terrible customer service”What a waste of $10. Hope it helps your business nana funks.

This place is horrible they are racist even the police officer even said that they singled us out because my boyfriend shorts was to long even tho they let him in with the shorts and by this time we had been there for 2 hours I asked to speak with the manager about it he refused to speak with me I will never visit this place again and wouldnt encourage anyone to go either. I tried not to give one star but it wouldnt allow me to post it without but I would rate this place at a negative10 its not for people of color take your money elsewhere do not allow THEM PEOPLE to make a living off your money when the dont want or appreciate you.

I really enjoy this place early in the day especially M-F. The bartenders are cool and its a chill atmosphere. Late at night when its 1 of the few places left open on the weekend it can become a madhouse full of wasted 21 year olds which takes a star for me.

This place is an area for people thats already intoxicated. You have to wait in a long line 20-45min! Once inside its $10+. Theres a police officer counting out who can go into the restroom. It was broken glass around one stall and the toilet overflowed. Theres a bustboy cleaning and he shoved me twice with his dirty ass container instead of just saying excuse me. Its crowded and people are still bumping into you instead of saying excuse me when theres open space. I was truly disappointed about this place. It was my first and last time coming! The only thing I like was that it was a mixed crowd. If you like that vibe, then to each their own but it was a waste of money to me!

I never take the time to write a review but after my experience here I feel the need to prevent anyone from experiencing what I had to go through.To put it simply, this is a racist establishment. If you are a minority, particularly an AA male and choose to go here, be mindful that you will likely be targeted and are putting yourself in a risky situation.I myself am a upstanding BLACK working professional who decided to enjoy the night out with friends and left out handcuffed. A bartender asked me to leave and would not provide me a reason. I mentioned I paid $10 to get in and continued asking why and they had the security staff escort me out without justification. Never have I ever experienced such blatant discrimination. What makes matters worse, I was not the only one.

The bar tender gave me back a card that looked similar to mine but it wasnt my card. Unfortunately I didnt notice till about noon, the next day, but it was too late. Whoever ended up with my card took about $1,900 of my hard earned money. I wouldnt be surprised if it was a bartender or employee. Hopefully the Good lord has a special place in the fiery pits of hell for this thief. DONT GO TO NANA FUNKS! Youre better than that.

Only place open till 5am. Drinks werent great and crowd was ok, mostly college kids. When its 2am, youre better off getting Jimmy Johns across the street and calling an Uber home.
