Love the environment. Recently I went there and felt as if the manager Mark was super prejudiced to me. I understand COVID but taking off his mask and screaming at me to move my seat when several others in the bar had done the same was ridiculous.
Patrons and staff respectful of my having my own social issues. Great service and upbeat despite pandemic!
Love Al’s! The bartenders are so nice, and one of them is BOMB singer (not sure of her name, but she wears a ponytail a lot). Drag shows are a must-see and the staff is always welcoming.
I absolutely love my overall experience the only thing I did not like is yes I was 19 at the time, but I couldnt leave through the front and get back in without paying the cover charge again thankfully though they had a smoking area so all in all an awesome place!
The bartender Brandon was so nice and made great drinks. He was amazing, We can be friends lol. Nice bar nice people love it!
Decent place but the patio needs attention. Door charges can be ridiculous on certain nights. Drag shows can be fun but is becoming old hat these days.
First of all, I recently came out and I was just looking for a good “gay friendly” place to feel more comfortable. (I’ve been to Indy a few months ago and I loved it, thought I’d give it a try in Birmingham.)So, I walk in hoping to meet some new nice people.First thing I notice as I survey the room. iIt didn’t bother me.I figured I would get 2 drinks and I would go.(My friend Bill was waiting outside for me)So, I sit down, as I am sitting I see that the Blond hair heavy set bartender notices me and I just ask for a water (I am not sure if I want to spend my money at this place because I am already a little uneasy alsoI was kind of nervous)So I’m just sitting there drinking my water and I see the same heavy set bartender notice that I’m just observing the room. She see’s me in her peripherals and it feels like I’m making her a little uncomfortable? Even though I am just keeping to myself? and I’m just trying not to come off as awkward.I guess I looked like a loner and I looked a little down (I had a rough day) but the older men seemed not to mind me. I mostly kept to myself.I go to put some songs on the jukebox. And I come back to order my second drink so I could get ready to go because my friend Bill was still waiting outside (20-30 mintutes had passed) I wait there and no one seems to want to help me.I tried to explain to her that if I seemed a little off that I smoked a little earlier, that if my eyes looked a little red that’s the reason why.I only had one shot of vodka (when I asked for whiskey)I came to this “gay friendly bar” looking to feel comfortable and accepted. That is notat all what I felt here.
Great people in a fun atmosphere with inside and outside seating.
Been a customer for several years, but the newest owner Mark just went above and beyond for something that wasnt even the bars fault or responsibility. Without going into any more details, if you want real service and community in Birmingham... This is for real the place to go.
Mark the owners a great guy but I think he should change his name to Fark
I’ve been going here for years, I can honestly say now that their manager is back it has turned into a very eventful place. The atmosphere can be overwhelming and with any night club type bar there are conflicts however it’s been a meeting spot for the lgbt community where everyone is accepted. Friendly loving staff.
One of my favorite spots in Birmingham! Staff are always awesome to be around!
Great lovely place to go when you want a drink or 5 lol and the owner is awesome and lovely bartenders they are very nice
Great drinks and fun drag show!
I went out for a local event supporting LGBTQ and BAO. The place was packed but never had a wait at any bar. It has 3-4 bar areas in the place. (I obviously tried to find them ALL).
Horrible service, drinks, and music. The scene isnt that great either. I would highly recommend avoiding this bar.
Love it! Often hang here after work or catch the shows at night. Cool spot
Best gay bar in Birmingham! Great service, great drinks, & great shows!
Tacky. The cards they require demand intrusive information and the moderators at the door are often less than pleasant. Drinks are okayish? I generally only visit when my friends are there, but there arent many great venues in Birmingham. So..
Fun place to make friends and have a cocktail
Went during karaoke lots of fun&loved the long islands, perfect(&thats saying something cause Im extremely picky). =) Bathroom so clean too! I didnt know bars could have a bathroom as clean as a 4★ restaurant.
A fun place to hang out at and get some solid drinks. Their Thursday night Karaoke and 6 dollar LITs are all you need for a wild night.Beware, if youre under 21 the staff is almost straight-up hostile towards you. Ive had my drink dumped out twice, because they thought one of my underage friends had taken a sip. Not cool.
I absolutely LOVE this place. The drinks are well priced, the staff is friendly and the drag shows are fantastic!
Extremely rude to underage goers. One of my friends was kicked out for absolutely no reason. Avoid this bar as much as you can. The staff is extremely rude and unpleasant and they completely kill your vibes.
Love it, go see Dylan, Grant and Rodney because they will not disappoint.
Extremely rude service. I will not plan to go back. Dirty facility, hostile staff, and unnecessary cover fees. If you want to go to a gay bar then just head to Quest.
The drag show is too long and drags on. Otherwise its OK. The drinks and service and cross are good.
Great staff & service!!
Tragic excuse for a gay bar, but its the best Birmingham has, which is again tragic.
Nice folks
Most fabulous karaoke in town.
