Big lake warm water, nice sunsets. During my visit area was over run with Mayflys. Camping a little high priced, more of a RV park than a Tent camping area. Dry County no beer, wine or spirits available anywhere nearby.

Sometimes you live somewhere for a good part of your life and you only realize you never really experienced it until your no longer there. It was definitely the right time to correct that mistake especially with the great civil rights display the they have at The Vulcan Museum. #showup

I love it! Everytime I visit Birmingham, I head there to capture an amazing view if the city! They also have an elevator that gets you to a lookout point that has a see through (glass) back and its nice to see the city from there! I enjoy heading to the lookout point and snapping manny pictures of the beautiful Birmingham! Also, they have a small museum about the history of the iron and steel industry in Alabama and why this beautiful statue -the Vulcan- is a symbol of the iron industry in Birmingham.

Ther Vulcan was great. The museum is very informative. Its self guided, which is nice. The information seemed mostly impartial too. The view is amazing! The weather was perfect when we visited. I could imagine winter not being the most optimal time of year however. Early summer was perfect. There is an elevator for those unable to take the stairs. The viewing deck is a metal grate looking material for those afraid of heights. Be warned. Overall this was a great historical site visit.

Vulcan Park has a nice museum, and you can go up into a tower that has a nice view overlooking the City. Nice scenic spot to walk, or take a break from driving. Kid friendly, quiet, peaceful. Will return. Have gone a few times. Walked up the flights of stairs to induce labor. Didn’t work lol

Small museum about the Vulcan statue and the development of Birmingham, with rotating exhibits and a spectacular view of the city and surrounding area. It costs $6 for adults and less for children; tickets purchased during her day are also good at night. A nice little museum store sells great gifts.Sometimes it closes for special events. Lots of parking and its handicapped accessible, too.

Very good place to go for photos or on a school field trip. My experience wasnt the best because it was a very hot day, and because the younger kids of my family did not enjoy it very much. I found a funny sign in the elevator tho

What an amazing landmark! Full of history, such a cool sculpture, and you get to take an elevator up to the top to get a great view of the city. You can also walk up the stairs and get a great leg workout instead. If youre into mythology, sculpture, and beautiful years, this is a go to place.

You cant visit Birmingham and not see the Vulcan. Great view of the city. Largest cast iron statue in the world (I have been led to believe ;-)You can park your car and wander the park itself for free. This includes views of the city and the statue from ground level. There is a small charge for the museum and for going to the top of the pedestal that the statue rests on.

Vulcan was beautiful today! There was great parking, a park for the kids to play Frisbee, football, race and tag. The museum was small, but Was packed with a plethora of information, interesting installations, and many different exhibits on an array of historical topics. The museum really did a great job of covering Subjects that run the gamut from Science to geography to Architecture To geology to Civil rights history and more!! I was very impressed. Also, you get a great view of the city from every direction when you climb to the top of Vulcan, however, there is also an elevator if you dont feel like getting your exercise in for the day.

Ok, so I really wanted to give the attraction itself a five, and the museum a three. BTW There is nothing wrong with the museum!! Its great!! Very new, clean, friendly staff, etc. However, the museum could be MUCH bigger. I loved the first part, with the stories of miners and the mock-up of the company store. This set my expectations pretty high, but then the rest of the museum kinda... Fizzles? There is some stuff about the St. Louis Exhibition (for which the Vulcan was made) that could have been greatly expanded on, and then the exhibit sort of abruptly stopped after the civil Rights movement. I guess nothing happened in Birmingham after 1965? (Jokes). I would like to see the park add on to the museum. Add more of the immersive historical stuff, and tell visitors what Birmingham was like in the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. I know the space is limited, but it would be really cool to see.
