Nice place to visit in Binghamton. Lots of good-looking wood carvings and furnishings. Gives you a good idea of late nineteenth century opulent living in the country. Guide was informative and helpful, being able to answer any questions. The price makes this a great value.
We had a great time. Our tour guide was a real nice and thoughtful lady who enjoyed answering questions that the 3 young teenagers that I took asked. I couldnt have asked for a nicer person to show us around. The mansion was beautiful and our guide was very informative
Very nice. Having a chance to see the homes hardware and joinery alone is worth the price of admission. The tour guide to did an outstanding job presenting the story of past and current owners of the property in a graceful manner. Sure Im glad to be in the 21st century though.
We went on the candlelight Christmas tour and we had such a great time learning about Christmas history and lore and heard some history about the mansion and area. The home is large, beautiful and ornate. I cant wait to go back and see and learn more.
Its a beautiful place that has been taken very good care of. Staffs are nice and very professional. There are lots of events, concerts, and more happening all year round. The piano in the performance space is in excellent condition which is very impressive considering how tricky the weather could be in Binghamton.
Wonderful turn of the century history experience in Binghamton. It was amazing to go up and see the roof where the old 40s metal roof still exists with the new facade roof over top. Perfect example of great Victorian Architecture.
This is a beautifully kept piece of Binghamton history. It is sad that there arent more of the old homes left around this one. The tours are fun and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable! If you have the opportunity to attend an event you wont be sorry! They had The history of chocolate a few years ago and it was really awesome and delicious! Not to mention fun and educational! Well worth the time to see a piece of local history!
Excellent stop. Great tour guide. Would highly recommend. If you enjoy older architecture and history this is a must see.
Lovely Victorian architecture, and full of wonderful history of the earliest days of settlement and development of the Binghamton area. Displays complete with beautiful era clothing pieces, photos, and decadent fireplace mantles.
A fabulous New Years Eve dinner, opera, drinks n tour...an enchanted evening in a beautiful mansion..
Delightful period mansion house designed by a nationally famous architect and maintained by a small group of dedicated local volunteers. A rare gem in the rust belt industrial urban landscape that surrounds it.
I very much enjoyed the tour tonight on death at the Phelps museum. Very interesting.
Good to visit but some toilet are dirty
A nice piece of history. I highly recommend taken the tour, over just walking thru by yourself.
Very informative, interesting local history. A very unique gift shop.
Saw the theatrical event Never more there, it was a very good setting for the show. Antique furniture, paintings, molding, & elaborate chandeliers. Great place to tour if you are interested in history.
Only opens from 11am! Couldnt get in at the time of my visit. The house looks nice from the outside, but neglected, needs repairs. No entry though through the main doors, but through an attached house at the rear right side.
Really nice place. The house was decorated for Christmas, and it looked beautiful. The tour guide had lots of information on the house and the Binghamton area. It is worth checking out.
Very well kept, wonderful tour guides!
In the neighborhood, holidays and special events are always family fun
Very interesting historical building. The docent was very knowledgable.
Beautiful old Mansion built by Phelps family and good for tours and events like music and plays...and speakers....
Beautiful place and informative guide.
Love that this can be shared in its original period 1870 style.
Such a stunningly beautiful mansions! Our tour guide was lovely and fun. She was very knowledgeable and answered any and all questions we had. Ill absolutely go back and visit. They also offer coupons through Groupon!
Phelps Mansion has been preserved by the efforts of a womans society called the Monday Club. Just because the society transformed to become the Phelps Mansion society, do not believe that the womens society doesnt have a presence in the house. The renovations, bath room modifications and even the ball room addition carry the influence of this 1800s society into the Twenty-First Century. The volunteers who guide the walks through the house have been well groomed. My guide has just finished her doctoral thesis for a history degree from Binghamton University, so Chelsea could really handle almost any question raised by guests. If you love American paintings from the Hudson River School era, youll love that the Monday club decorated the drawing rooms and dressing rooms with unmentioned members of the school. The club bought the house for ten thousand dollars around 1905 and literally gave to the house a priceless number of rare objects.I hope to soon catch a concert in the ball room, which looks like a chamber with great acoustics.
A great place to visit and tour while in Binghamton!
Nevermore is a great show in a breathtaking location! Wonderful and timeless.

A part of regional American history. We enjoyed our visit here.
Fabulous!
Tour was a bit boring, the guides done it so much theres no enthusiasm left. Id stop listening after maybe a minute in each room and just explore the artifacts, read things myself.
Gorgeous old antebellum mansion.
This was a very good tour. There is a lot of information both historical and architectural. It is nice to know that people are making an effort to maintain the beautiful places in Binghamton. Thanks to all who give there energy to that cause.
